MichalS
Doing my research regarding reloading I spoke with a couple of guys I know who are all decent shooters... They all have different ways of doing stuff, especially when it comes to brass preparation. Some full length resize and anneal after every shot, some just wash the brass in an ultrasonic cleaner and call it a day... How do You prep Your brass? jcampbellsmith
At present my process is very similar to the above, I do the following - deprime anneal steel pins clean Full length resize trim deburr Ultrasonic clean Put away in a box. Write up my reloading notes. These steps are subject to change without notice. One thing I have also started to do is label each batch of brass and try and keep it together in a 50 round box for its lifespan. I have some batches that I use for practice and others that appear to work better and are marked as competition batches. Regards JCS
rhhudson
Tumble Anneal F/l size Trim/chamfer/deburr Tumble again. Normally size/Tumble in batches of 50 but when annealing I normally do 100 (keeping them separate). I tumble twice. First time to clean a bit of the carbon to stop it all going in my dies. Second time to remove any remaining swarf/case lube and polish.

Catch-22
1. Deprime 2. Tumble in walnut media 3. Brush necks out with nylon brush & check flasholes 4. Anneal (usually every time) 5. Full length size (FL Whidden die has a neck bushing inside it) 6. Use Sinclair Expander Mandrel on necks 7. Trim & deburr 8. Prime 9. Charge & seat In addition, keeping reloading notes and tying it all in with your range notes, chronograph readings and targets are all key imho. chaz
De-prime. Ultra-sonic clean, then cases left to dry thoroughly in a warm place. Full length size without the de-capping/Expander ball attached. Trim, chamfer, debur if needed. Use a Sinclair Expander Mandrel to resize the necks. Clean inside of neck with patches on a nylon neck brush. Inspect brass with an L.E.D lit, jewellers magnifying glass. Anneal every 4 to 5 firings. Then reload. Nick 53
Try to anneal brass every third firing. Tumble in walnut media , re size full length, check length. chech cases for cracks, if found brass is scrapped. if trimming is needed spend more time in the garage! ( find this trimming seriously boring). clean primer pockets with Lymons prep centre. prime using RCBS rock chucker, use Hornady lock and load scales, charge ! seat bullet check each loaded bullet, check OAL , 3”117 . Wipe cases down. Box and write load data and date of re loading. Nick

Big Al
8 hours ago, DM308 said: most people seem to anneal prior to resizing - why is this? Only asking as i anneal after resizing. The theory is it gives a more uniform sizing. After firing the cases can work harden at different rates, once annealed all the cases are again uniform so putting them through a resizing die will in theory yield more consistent results. Of course after sizing you have also worked them a little. How about annealing both before and after sizing then?

BobSki
1. Ultrasound clean (gets crud out of neck and case 2. When dry de prime 3. F/L resize 4. check length (trim to 51.0mm / 2.008”) if required 5. If trimmed, chamfer and deburr 6. Ultrasound clean (more crap out of case also cleans primer pocket and gets lube off) 7. Finish clean primer pocket with K&M cutter NOTE TO SELF - must try to afford annealing machine ? This would then be done between step 2 & 3 above
