  1. Try RS 52 powder with a 155 grain bullet. Powder is available at Bisley, Hut 60. Pete
  2. I use factory coated 6mm 115grn DTAC's in my 6x47, and I've coated various other bullets myself........it does reduce fouling, and also reduces MV a bit, so there is some reduction in friction. As to whether or not it's worth it as far as achieving smaller groups are concerned, the jury's out........suck it and see, it won't do any harm. Pete
  3. +1..........but as well as the grass, don't forget the rain, snow and frost..........we sometimes suffer for our fun. Pete
  4. I pay £18.50 an hour at Bisley, low season electronic targets.......... Pete
  5. You really need to give RS 52 powder a go with the 155 Scenars........... Pete
  6. It's the long building next door to the green building 31 on the attached map. There's a one-way system, so I drive past the front of the lord Roberts centre, bear left and Hut 60 is on the right hand side. https://nra.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/campmap-2019.pdf Pete
  7. As a full NRA member with a SCC card, you can shoot at any of the distances offered, whenever there are lanes available......the electronic targets make it simple, just book/pay online, rock up and shoot. The NRA website has a page which gives range/distance availability, week on week. Pete
  8. Even worse if it includes a phone with a realtime link to a camera so you can actually watch your place being ransacked while you're 200mls away............ Pete
  9. You should have tried Crispin Eng, at Hut 60...........they keep RS powders, and possibly Murom primers. Pete
  10. The locking system looks a bit more substantial than the Blaser LRS I once owned..... Pete
  11. The barrel on the rifle that I mentioned earlier in this thread is a 30" Lothar-Walther 8 twist s/steel (button rifled), dating from 2007. It was "well used" with unknown round count when I got it in 2013, and I've since put around 2500 rounds through it. The throat area and first 100-150mm is badly fire cracked as can be seen in the pic. However, the forward 60% of the barrel is good, and it can still shoot a sub 1 MOA group. Pete
  12. I think it's a case of whatever works for you...........if you feel confident that your procedure is good, then you'll feel good, and probably shoot good. There are many aspects of shooting that fall into the "black art" category. I recently shot a 0.64 moa 10-shot group at 300yds with a 6BR barrel that was described as "toast" a while back by someone who saw my borescope photo of the throat. I'm assuming the Shotmarker system was working OK.........🙂 Pete
  13. What furry bean said Pete
  14. The proof rounds will have taken care of most, if not all, of any swarf and machining burrs............ Pete
  15. There's scope for a decent 2-stage fully adjustable match trigger at a sensible price...........I'm in the frustrating position of owning an old Musgrave target action with a 6BR barrel that'll still shoot 1/2 MOA, but with a trigger that's definitely on borrowed time, and there's no longer any alternative available....... And what JDT just said +1... Pete
  16. Surely, if you already have the CNC machinery, the expertise, and the time, all you need are the materials.........the big money has already been spent. Pete
  17. I have a CG-RPA 2000 which has an 11mm dovetail machined into the reciever. I use Optilock bases and rings which have a nylon insert. I needed a bit more elevation to get this up to 1000yds. https://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/optilock-plastic-ring-inserts-30mm Placing a shim between the rear base and ring doesn't stress the scope body at all, as the nylon inserts move in the rings like a ball and socket. I made one up from a bit of 0.75mm brass sheet. Pete
  18. They're my first call for barrels, bullets and brass, and if they were south of the M4, I'd actually be seeing a lot more of them............. Pete
  19. Anyone who likes Pink Floyd and bikes can't be all bad............. Pete
  20. I wish they were south of the M4....... Pete
  21. Way to go powder funnel kit.......... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lyman-Precision-Powder-Funnel-Inserts/dp/B079ZQWM1T Pete
