  1. Me too.....it would be interesting to know how many shooters bother to read it and give feedback. We're frequently hearing people bitching about firearms office staff on these forums, but I have to say, the Winchester crew have been exemplary for the 15 years we've known them. Pete
  2. Thanks for that. It says it all, almost... I think it would be also useful if the FEO's had actual hands-on experience of shooting, and the associated firearms nomenclature as part of their training. (Years ago, we experienced some confusion about additional user-swappable barrels.....) Pete
  3. Were the Muroms KVB-223M, or std? Pete
  4. Yes, but projectile also applies to RPG's, bazookas, artillery shells and the like.........for small arms firing a single projectile at each bang, it's primarily a bullet........get over it...😁 Pete
  5. Pay attention everyone...the "BULLET" is the correct name for the heavy pointy bit that flies out of the long pipe thingy as it goes bang when you pull the little lever underneath... Pete
  6. Three of us for two hours on Century at 300yds last Weds......a cracking morning (see pic...) for £13 apiece, and two of us got through 40 rounds each. We do 5-shots a go, which makes it a bit easier on the barrels, too. Pete
  7. RobinC: I managed one 0.7 MOA 5 shot group using 80gn SMK and RS 52 at 600yds when we last shot at this distance (2019) on a reasonably calm day, but in mitigation I shoot prone off a home made bipod and my wind reading skills are somewhat sketchy to say the least. In view of the current weather, we're generally happy with 2 MOA, and ecstatic with anything less as far as the 223 is concerned. I've also tried the 223 at 1000yds, just for a laugh, and I was surprised to get 4 out of 10 shots inside the 4 ring on a fairly calm day shortly after the Intarso's were installed on Stix. This was with a slightly hotter load of RS 52 giving an MV of around 3000 fps with the SMK 80's................never managed it again, though. We've had quite a few < 0.5 MOA's at 300 yds on calm days, so I think the 223 is definitely up for 300m in competent hands. iK_surrey: The Trakker rear dovetail has been machined out to fit the Tikka dovetail, which is wider than the 11mm Anschutz standard, so it's really part of the M595 TR set, together with an adjustable laminate stock.......afraid I'm not planning to sell this anytime soon. Pete
  8. I have a Tikka M595 based "TR" in 223. (It came with Trakker front and rear sights originally, but I use it with a scope now). It has a 30" 8 twist barrel, and is very accurate using both SMK 80's and Berger 80.5's with RS52. 73 grain Berger's also work well with Wild Boar. Pete
  9. https://www.andover-rpc.org.uk/ Take a look at this one.....arguably the most beautiful smallbore range around, and a friendly crowd. I was a member for a few years until I dropped smallbore. A bugger to find, though, actually in Harewood forest just south of Andover. Parking, covered firing points, ranges up to 100yds, tea making facilities. Pete
  10. This from ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353196319912?hash=item523c2424a8:g:XCMAAOSw6b1gsBKt&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4ICkD%2BU2Wf8R%2FGbBlxVpdSQ4nadC60s30cWDKMOXQ0uJxSn0gAecmFKbwqZii8hSGqiTZzEAGqhtnWo8IgPQn3wqaxeNlCRrVFfFw9siMphHE3VLmi3oiXNiB5st%2Btp28c6P73xII%2BYlOPJr3whp9xhTg7BUz%2FdXtRJ3HjQ9%2B7L4Alz5X8ZJLo66WPxZ2shG7ojkABSwSf2zeAA%2FgIapVThPxtmlGt73gssxjctdpLcX6SEQft5WMP9WkmtR7wxWCcvjfdlCeUhmik2MrLfDqJ1Jb7hNWUgxJMPaXkV03DHi|tkp%3ABk9SR9Luxq2qYQ And these from spud1967: https://1967spud.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=tumbler+pins Use with warm water + a dollop of washing up liquid + half a teaspoon of citric acid. Pete
  11. And Wild Boar with 73grain Bergers in .223......also good with 80grain SMK's. Pete
  12. Best powder for 308 and 155grain Scenars is RS 52.......... Pete
  13. Pure voodoo.........that just about sums up reloading. It doesn't matter how much cash you throw at it, you WILL have good days and bad 'uns at the range. Pete
  14. I'd have thought consistent neck tension trumps tenths of a grain every time............ Pete
  15. I'm presently shooting 6BR from a 24" 8 twist barrel using 31 grains of RS 52 with 105 Scenar's.......speed is around 2850fps. Pete
  16. I quite fancy one of these: https://www.invictastores.eu/collections/gladiator/invicta-reserve-gladiator-36626-mens-quartz-watch-55mm/ Pete
  17. On the subject of dud electronics, we lost 45mins at the start of our two hours on Century yesterday at 300yds.......I enquired about a refund in the Range Office, and was told to email them with details of the problem. I've had part refunds before, but no offer of compensation for the irritating waste of ammo while you try to decide if it's you or the system that's fallen over. We had to call the techies out, and it transpired that the Shotmarker sensors had been installed back to front. Once sorted, they were spot on. I can't understand what is so difficult about testing the system BEFORE the paying punters arrive....... Pete
  18. Anyone using it on an Amazon Fire tablet? I already have it working fine on a Galaxy, but it won't let me install it on a Fire HD. Pete
  19. A quick "bodge" to get round the pathetic fragile micro USB socket which started to fail after a few sessions...........(assuming you'd rather use a rechargeable USB powerpack instead of half a dozen AA cells, and you don't want to spend money and be without it while you get the USB socket replaced). I bought this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/362259358711 And this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334535894410?var=543598957761 I've been inside my Labrad, and there's pretty much nowhere to do internal wiring as they've plastered hot melt everywhere. The main PCB has very fine tracks, and I wasn't about to risk a disaster. The two wooden "batteries" in pic B are there to avoid soldering to the Labrad battery holder, which could end in a lot of molten plastic.....the hole in the battery compartment lid is 8mm, which gives a tight fit on the magnetic USB adaptor that's plugged into the PCB. Polarity: The PCB GND is negative, and VBUS is positive. The + & - are embossed at the top centre of the battery compartment. And it all works fine....solid reliable contact even when jogged. Pete
  20. I'd say there was something VERY wrong...... Odd that there's no mention of such an animal on the Riflecraft website, though, are you sure it's made by them? Pete
  21. Had similar results with Rem 71/2 SR primers......chucked 'em in the end. Pete
  22. I didn't buy online....I just phoned, then rocked up, paid cash and collected. Quite happy to repeat when necessary. Pete
  23. Yep.......bought some powder last week, really nice guy, and very handy for Bisley, which is where I shoot. Pete
  24. What civil liberties? For starters, free speech has gone out the window.... Pete
  25. The main problem is lack of a national police force, all reading from the same manual..... Pete
