  1. I sold my 308 after a side by side comparison with a newly acquired 6.5x47 at 1000yds.............the 6.5 is a Tikka M595 with a 30" barrel. I've also shot the 6.5 at 1200yds with 136 grain bullets on one occasion... Pete
  2. FWIW, I use this stuff https://tripeek.com/ I've also used Autosol, but I think the Peek paste is a bit less aggressive. Pete
  3. He can't even spell it.........😁 Pete
  4. Mine was plumsaucemerchant.pegging.douchnozzle.knockers, back in the '70's 😁 Relatively mild........... Pete
  5. Or in the case of blokes, that mass of subcutaneous lipids known as the "apron".............😁 Pete
  6. What he just said................RS 52 is the go-to powder for long range in both of these calibres, 80 grain bullets in 223, and 155 grainers in 308. Pete
  7. I think they were upside down because I hadn't checked properly after shaking 'em around and closing the lid....🤪 Pete
  8. I've been using the bench mounted autoprime,(triangular holders) for quite a while now and apart from the odd one going in upside down (mea culpa?), it's brilliant......... Pete
  9. Cheap looking glass back, (the same as on my £80 Invicta diver).............and you'd need wrists like King Kong in order to not look stupid. Pete

Hi, did you go to Triptons secondary at Becontree Heath by any chance? Pete
  13. How d'you know what my face looks like???
  14. Meanness: So tight he wouldn't give you the skin off a turd / the steam off his pi$$. The morning after: My mouth tastes like a badgers arse / apes armpit / Turkish wrestlers jockstrap / a buzzards chuff. Pete
  15. No, not Chatham............been to HMS Vernon a few times, though. Pete
  16. This will give a Pmax of 58,026 psi......the design Pmax for this cartridge/bullet/powder combination is 60,191 psi, so this IS a high pressure load, and definitely NOT a safe starting load. I suggest you get a copy of Quickload and come to your own conclusions, bearing in mind that you have a potential pipe-bomb under your ear when shooting. https://quickload.co.uk/ Pete
  17. Or a clowns pocket...🤣 Pete
  18. About as much use as a nine-bob note........... Up and down like a fiddlers elbow........... Pete
  19. I just ran the above load through QL.......I may have missed something, but I'd be VERY nervous about trying to get anywhere near this. I'm also surprised at the ballistic efficiency. I'd have thought this would be higher. I get 33%+ with my calibres. (6BR, 6.5x47,6x47, 223). Pete I
  20. Post cartridge overall length with the V-max and I'll run it through QL for you. Be warned though, RS60 is a high energy powder and is a bit heavy on barrels..........I moved to RS62 for my 6x47 for this reason. Pete
  21. RS 52 with 80grain SMK out of an 8 twist 30" barrel does 600 and even 1000yds for me.... Pete
  22. When you've decided on a powder and you have a cartridge overall length, post them and I'll run QL for you. FWIW, I use RS52 with 73 and 80 grain bullets. What length is your barrel? Pete
  23. Thinking about a "release agent" to make deposited carbon less likely to stick, might this stuff do the trick? As an aerosol, it should be easy to apply. https://www.screwfix.com/p/wd-40-dry-ptfe-lubricant-400ml/36613 Pete
