Barrel length and twist rate.
Re-Pete replied to Frederick's topic in Target Shooting & Informal Long Range Shooting Practice
This is my plan for a CG-RPA 2000 that I have, presently in 6x47.......the second barrel will be 6BR. Pete -
I just laughed myself sick........... Pete

Musgrave 6BR, CG-RPA 200 6x47, and a Tikka M595 .223 TR.............I particularly like old Anschutz walnut stocks. Pete -

Tikka T3, AICS bottom metal and mag, GRS Bifrost
Re-Pete replied to farmer t's topic in Other Sporting Rifles
Inject polyester or epoxy resin mixed with filler in the stock bolt holes to give a solid region where strength is needed, then drill and add pillars to taste............at least, that's what I'd do. I assume the Bifrost is the cheapest option? Pete -
The second link is just for the wire coils, not the heater.....read the description. (Unless Condition 1 meant that you'd need both?) This is a regular ploy used on ebay........... Pete

The mini-USB power lead socket on the Labradar is ridiculously flimsy for such a piece of equipment............a standard USB would have made more sense. I'm looking at ways to modify mine. Pete

Well at least it's reassuringly expensive, like the "high end" brands......... Pete

Presumably, the auction house takes a fee from the seller as well? Pete

Bisley closed again.
Re-Pete replied to martin_b's topic in Target Shooting & Informal Long Range Shooting Practice
I'm sure this "should not" as opposed to "must not" confusion is deliberate. Pete -

Re-Pete replied to martin_b's topic in Target Shooting & Informal Long Range Shooting Practice
What I'd really like to know is that if I drive from a tier 4 zone into an adjacent tier 4 zone to a legally open venue, according to the govt. website ie Bisley, will I be breaking the law?........................anyone?? Any police officers out there? Pete -

Re-Pete replied to martin_b's topic in Target Shooting & Informal Long Range Shooting Practice
I've managed to shoot throughout the inter-lockdown period without getting anywhere near members of NRA staff. The online booking system & electronic targets have made this very easy, and long may it continue. Pete -

Triffid +1...........I don't have a bubble, and the argument that one shouldn't take any risks because they may have to rely on someone else if things go tits-up is frankly, risible............ Are you really suggesting that people shouldn't climb, dive, fly, bunjee jump, paraglide, ride horses, or even ride a bicycle, in case the unexpected happens and someone else has to take responsibility?? Get real....... Pete -

Re-Pete replied to martin_b's topic in Target Shooting & Informal Long Range Shooting Practice
If I worried about all the unexpected things that could happen to me whenever I left the house, I'd never get out of bed...............it's all about doing your own "risk assessment" and taking sole responsibility when you get it wrong. Pete -

Re-Pete replied to martin_b's topic in Target Shooting & Informal Long Range Shooting Practice
The next question: Is it legal to drive to Bisley (tier 4) from any of the other tiers..............the word "should" is used in the guidelines, rather than "must". I really can't see any increased risk to myself or anyone else if I drive from a tier 2 to Bisley, shoot alone for a couple of hours, then drive back. Pete -
Bisley closed again.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/tier-4-stay-at-home#sports-and-physical-activity To echo what Martin B said........ Sports and physical activity Indoor gyms and sports facilities will close. Outdoor sports courts, outdoor gyms, golf courses, outdoor swimming pools, archery/driving/shooting ranges, riding centres and playgrounds can remain open for individual exercise, and for people to use with others within your household, support bubble, or with one person from another household. Organised outdoor sport for under 18s and disabled people will be allowed. It does say "shooting ranges and individual exercise", so I'd say Bisley would be within the rules. Pete -
Some of the other articles are also interesting...............the piece on Branson is worth a read. Pete

Funny how the media in general haven't picked up on this story about such a high profile "celeb".................or have I missed it? Pete
