  1. I didn't appreciate you meant have both............for me, the trigger will suffice. Pete
  2. That still doesn't get round it's tendency to miss the occasional shot, and having to pfaff around wasting shots trying to find the muzzle sweet spot relative to the unit when changing rifles etc. I have mine on a decent tripod, so I can poke the buttons without causing it to move. Pete
  3. For what it's worth, I've had a 30" Lothar Walther straight taper s/steel hanging on my Tikka M595 (6.5x47) for around 5 years and a couple of thousand rounds...............hasn't fallen off yet. Pete
  4. Well I don't know enough people to make owning a smartphone worthwhile................. 🙂 Pete
  5. You need to speak to 1066 for tech details. There are various technologies that can achieve this. His version is just so convenient and easy to use. It's a no brainer because apart from the 100% reliable triggering, as long as it's still pointing at the target, the Labradar itself can be within easy reach of the shooter, not at the end of the barrel. Pete
  6. I've had a Labradar for a couple of years, and up until now, I've not been 100% happy with it. When it worked, it was OK, but frequent triggering & bullet acquisition failures, plus the pain of trying to reset/adjust it while shooting prone, (I don't have a smartphone or 1 metre long arms), have led to it slowly moving to the back of the cupboard while I checked out the latest Magnetospeed.................until today. A chance comment by another forum member led me to 1066 on this forum, and his Labradar recoil trigger project. I tried it for the first time this morning, and I have to say I'm impressed. Two of us fired a total of 110 rounds, using the trigger attached to a couple of rifles, one to an Anschutz rail under the fore end of a 6BR, and another with the trigger lashed on to a bipod leg with the supplied velcro tape, this time a 6.5x47. It was 100% reliable, not a single failure to trigger/acquire the bullet and record the velocity, and all with the unit comfortably within reach to adjust and reset without needing to get up or wriggle forward. As it's not in contact with the barrel or action, it doesn't affect the barrel harmonics, so no change in POI when in use. Highly recommended. Pete
  7. JockStalk, I'm primarily concerned that you might wind up hurting yourself or others, and if you are reloading, then sorry, but I'm surprised that you need to ask the question........... Pete
  8. It is a VERY daft question, and would probably result in a split case neck or collapsed case shoulder. As already mentioned, if you did manage to seat the bullet, the resulting pressure spike could prove "interesting"...............have you done much reloading? Pete
  9. It's actually a CG-RPA 2000.............I think that's the same as a Quadlock?..............it's been round the galaxy a few times, but is still tight, and looks as good as new when spruced up. Pete
  10. How often do you clean out the action, and how do you do it? This is my approach, using the ultrasonic cleaning bath (full of water), plus a 500ml measuring cylinder with enough paraffin to cover the action. After 15 mins or so, I mop off excess paraffin, and rinse the inside out with a good squirt of brake cleaner which dries in seconds. Takes around 45 mins, including dismantling and re-assembly after lubing. I've seen shaped brushes etc. for reaching the lug faces, but I've found this to be the simplest way. Even if you don't have a suitable ultrasonic bath, simply working the action up and down in the cylinder of solvent will achieve the same result, especially if you use a better solvent like petrol. Pete
  11. Drawing compass, a pair of scissors, and a can of photomount spray................they'd stay on, as well............. Pete
  12. Maybe a bit off topic, but how do you get to be an "advanced member" on here.........? Pete
  13. Thanks for that DIY snapcap suggestion...............I've been jamming bits of solder in............ Pete
  14. I have a flip-phone............... Re-Pete
  15. One of those square plastic boxes (about 9" x 9") with the gasket sealed clip-on lid from Poundshop, 2/3 full of cat litter, covered with a bit of towelling...............works for the ladies as well 😀................... Pete

My mobile doesn't do apps................ Pete
  17. Could the sensor be attached to the fore-end, rather than the barrel? Pete
  18. Did you check the bore before firing it for the first time? It looks very much like a faulty new barrel a colleague showed me a couple of years ago..........it was returned. Maybe a faulty billet was used to pull the original blank.......it looks a bit extreme for rust in such a short time, and you would have noticed it when cleaning before it got this bad. Pete
  19. I always call them "copper projectiles".................never had a problem. Pete
  20. Hermes lost £80's worth of stuff that I'd sold on Ebay..............vintage radio valves. Despite my accurate description of contents, and delivering three packs of these without a problem, when I tried to claim, they said "we don't deliver anything with glass, it's a restricted item"................wouldn't use them again. I take anything I'm sending to the local Uni branch of the Post Office now, 2nd class recorded delivery, or special deliv if it's expensive..............never let me down yet. ( hope that doesn't turn out to be "Famous last words......) Pete
  21. The trigger guard could be a weak point, depending on the grain orientation, and the action would need to be bedded. Probably OK for airsoft, but maybe not for a centre/rim fire job...............they do look very nice, though. Pete
  22. Here's a couple of my regulars enjoying some peanuts..................they always eat these first. Pete
