  1. Ronin, Agree, do that with BPCR's but no so easy in an enclosed range - the RCO gets all bent out of shape T
  2. Have one of the Mageneto speed items which I find pretty easy to pop into rifle between strings while writing down data etc. Compact and does not take up any room - I’m one for keeping stuff to a minimum. Like the idea of the air bed inflators but would want to put some from of filter on it to stop crap being sucked up and blow down the barrel to then be ground into the rifling. T
  3. Martin, Pretty certain the bullet needs to be supersonic at the target so 'no' as most accurate 22rf rounds are not even that at the muzzle! T
  4. Not so much ‘companion’ more ‘part of the family’
  5. Concur whole heartedly NB light is not rabbit/Walt value, it is for run and gun in the dark stages at local club comps - much grin factor
  6. ....someone needs to convince Baldie to make a few 22rf AR’s perhaps 😉, just saying. Not sure why the reluctance to spend a few £ on a good 22rf? Think a 22rf has great appeal and probably more opportunity for use? A good 22rf AR even more so 😎
  7. Stan, When I had a 7mm SAUM I had best success with H4831sc under the 180g Bergers. Was running well north of 2900. What about the ‘RL’’ powders - RL25 perhaps? But my guess is N165 would be as you say cool but slower. Down to you re which powder - how many rounds are you hoping to get out of the barrel? Regardless, real nice cartridge the SAUM, think it is one that’s a bit underrated IMHO good luck T
  8. Annie MPR is magazine fed , 5 & 10 round , and can accept target sights.
  9. Concur with PbG, FFP scopes are very useful re. correcting fall of shot but also, I believe, the internal mechanics of a FFP scope is more resistant to any change in POI if you change magnification? 25x should be enough, more is nice if the optics are good, you can always turn it down. T
  10. PBG That is how I do it, neck bushing for sizing then separate ( carbide) expander. during the boredom might look at the LFC?
  11. PbG, Only ever checked on the 22K Hornet and halved the ES (which improved the SD) As I said I’m content with my current techniques re neck tension so doubt if I’ll be adding a crimp by any method. But that is just me 😉. Caveat: I do ‘crimp’ the 38Spl/357 mag in carbines Brgds T
  12. Kaboom, Personally I do not taper crimp CF rifles I did though crimp the 22K Hornet when I had one and it made a difference, but think this was due to the thin cases in this cartridge. Not had issues with SD’s I’m achieving, pay attention to case prep, control (as best I can) neck tension seems to to be enough to give low ES and SD’s. Caveat - not sure if my test group sizes give a meaningful SD? T
  13. Our club is trying to organise a shoot in very near future - will post the ‘experience’ if/when it happens.
  14. Why not just use a FFP scope and ‘in close’ use a different horizontal cross hair for zero to allow for the offset and when you get out to 600 plus then use the regular central cross. just saying this might be simpler?

    Knife kit?

Srvet, They are rose wood scales, not too expensive i.e. if i cocked up i'd not cry too much 😊

    Knife kit?

Colin, Obtained all the parts from these folks: https://www.english-handmade-knives.co.uk/acatalog/Knife_Making_Supplies.html Very helpful, prompt delivery etc. Yes, the scales came out OK, took a bit of shaping, they start off like this, was actually a bit worried when the parts were laid out - sort of a ‘WTF’ moment 😯

    Knife kit?

bits have arrived - first aid box on hand..... let's see how it goes? 😉
  18. ...apologies in advance about going off piste but... Martin, I actually do not care about the rest of the World’s media (I know it overlaps a bit internationally) I’d just like, and being really naive here, a press that dug into and reported the truth with no spin or agenda so ‘we’ can make our own decisions/views and politicians who are not bought and paid for. I know the first is never going to happen and examples of the corruption in the second HS2 - people I know in the industry who’d actually build such a thing can not see where the figures are coming from i.e. lot of folks with noses in the trough. Hinkley point - FFS who agreed to go with the Chinese/EDF’s design when the French one is currently (NB ‘currently’!!) 7 years behind schedule and 3 times the original cost (also think there is a Finnish one in the same boat?) again - follow the money! It is all a joke and the older I get the more I realise it is - very frustrating. now, back to our normal scheduling.... 😁
  19. We are getting a bit off OP but I’d actually think I’d put Al Jazeera above BBC, but there are very few media groups (if any) who are not doing things for a personal gain/agenda of some sort or another, pretty much like any/all politicians etc. e.g the either scripted or stoooopid questions put to the three stooges each day re. C-19, FFS do they really think the public are that dense - or perhaps they do? Do not trust any of them, with anything. T
  20. Did not know ITAR had been changed that much? As per Catch-22’’s post (and actually the folks he’s linked to, used them myself a few times and very good). sort what you want to do, get it all in the exported permit, same cost no matter how much you put on it, also you Do not need to buy it all in one go i.e. the permit has quantities on it you can work up to. This end is not and issue, your FAC is effectively your import permit, IMHO work with a proven experienced importer - I’d recommend March Scopes UK (part of PBS Int who are purely a freight handling company i.e. that’s their day job 😁 ) You should not have any real issues. T

    Bore Scopes

Kaboom, I've owned a Hawk Eye for years and used it a lot, very helpful tool. Recently purchased one of the Teslong unit (USB based) and found it pretty good. Believe there is a Bluetooth version to go direct into a mobile device so probably the way to go? As already noted - be prepared to be horrified! T

    Knife kit?

Gents, As this is all dragging on a bit and even the reloading & DIY is drying up - anyone ever bought a knife kit or discreet components and made a knife up? Any recommendations/links as to what and/or what to avoid in a 1st build? Thinking along the lines a small full tang e.g. neck, EDC, hunting design. Cheers T
  23. Martin - How about a ladies Rolex on my son’s 83 Dan Smith Strat ?
  24. Ps... the trick is to freeze methos in ice cubes and drop them into folks coke 🤡 (then wait)
