  1. Did have this opinion until my son was violently attacked, no provocation. UK has highest rate of rape sexual assault in Europe. No interest (or ability) to control violent destructive protests, hum. are we living in the same country? ๐Ÿคจ But concur, to a degree, depends where you live, so long as its happening elsewhere I suppose its OK? Agree re defending yourself, I'm not big enough or good enough to do anything bar be on the receiving end. ๐Ÿ˜’
  2. Had a 7mm SAUM and thought it was a real sweet cartridge. Run a 300WM for a while in a AWM had no issues with the belted case, in fact forget all the myths re. belted being awkward etc. just get the Innovative technologies sizing die and you're all set to go! http://www.larrywillis.com/ Brass can be had for both, bullets the same for either. Would think the SAUM is a little more efficient/accurate - not always about fps. more related to 'moa' perhaps? T
  3. I use the Century 21 adjustable primer pocket tool/cutter to uniform all the brass (NB after 1st firing) then the C21 primer tool mentioned by Catch-22. it is actually .00125 adjustment per click. From my perspective the whole process is to, as far as possible and as stated, to compress the anvil by the same amount each time in each cartridge i.e. when load developing you are only changing one thing not 'assuming' the ignition is the same each time. T
  4. Dave, indeed full, Iโ€™m in a B&B between Lockerbie and the range. Actually booked in for food at the Town Head on the Friday night ๐Ÿ˜‰ looking fwd to some shooting and BSโ€™ing. T
  5. HaB Noted, will put the 22rf in - gets the most out of the day/shoot/travel. 'Assume' (always dangerous) 22rf's shot out the the 100 yard mark, or there abouts? T
  6. Think I'm down for this shoot, looking fwd to catching up with a few folks. Question - is there opportunity to 'clear the tubes' / check zero after travelling with rifle? B&B booked - who else on here's going? Anyone staying over locally Saturday night to grab some food etc.? 'up and down that bloody hill all day killed me!๏ปฟ!' - ๐Ÿ˜ณ, that wasn't in the manual!! ๐Ÿ˜จ ๐Ÿ˜ (and there was was thinking 'throw the 22 in a well and shoot both - scratch that, lugging 2 rifles )
  7. Concur, but the inference was no hard/hardened cast bullets - period ๐Ÿ˜‰
  8. ??????????? really ๐Ÿคจ
  9. B&Bโ€™s within 15 minutes for range. 340 mile drive up so 2 nights stay is only way.
  10. .... indeed, a balance between 'Oooo bloody hell, did he say that! ๐Ÿ˜ณ' and 'give the man who tells the truth a horse - he'll need it to get away on' ๐Ÿ˜‚
  11. Bit Off OP but I always wondered how the Westlake's performed vs original 38spl revolvers, cheers for that.
  12. Re making solids, you know the matl. just need to find someone who uses a โ€˜Swissโ€™ style of CNN lathe. My guess that amount of matl. youโ€™d need to buy and batch size to keep costs sensible. Setting up is pretty straight fwd if you have a drawing of the bullet Personally do not hold out much hope I tried about a year ago to see if anyone was interested in bulk buying solids and importing them legally , was even a mixed cal and weight setup, not enough takers so price could not be dragged down.
  13. T-73, It looks from your post you are not looking at reloading here but buying ammunition - yes? If this is the case it might come down to what you can get hold of on a regular basis from your local gun shops? Once you know that you could start making a choice of a couple to try? The only 308 factory ammo I've seen used recently was some GGG 175g match which a new member purchased at Bisley and it performed very well at 900 & 1000 out of his AI, they also do 155 & 168g versions. Brgds T
  14. BD, I'd load the mags by hand, don't use the auto loader if you're going for pure accuracy - it can deform the nose if you're too enthusiastic, Just sayin' (look what it did to your middle group for instance! ๐Ÿ˜‰) T
  15. Please come back with results John?
  16. JDT my AR based semi does not have issues cycling 'funny' ammo bullet shapes e.g. Tenex. You have to try different types/makes to see what your rifle likes, sometimes lower cost ammo works?: Here is an example But you need to give each different type of ammo a few rounds to clear out the previous ammo's lube, the above 50 yard target, top left, was trying the CC plastic coated ammo, after a couple of rounds it shot well. Also found the CCI AR specific copper washed ammo, bottom right group, shot well. the middle top group was 20 rounds of R50. All shot with relatively low power 10x scope
  17. ....'poor ejection'.... yup, the Annie 64 action had this issue , they swapped to a cheap stamped ejector = failure to eject, 15 minutes with a file/stone = fixed. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  18. Ronin, I learnt to shoot on a friends 52D and when he was feeling in a good mood a Freeland stocked 52E - incredibly accurate rifles. Not sure in the repeaters accuracy suffering, if you look at the results folks were achieving with stock MPR's prior to the advent of VooDoo's etc. some very good results being obtained. The CZ's are very good accuracy wise for off the shelf rifles, might be something related to the hammer forged barrels i.e. the chambers in straight? The new MTR and LRP models seem to be about right? Also, from memory the Walther KKM target rifles were based on CZ actions? Building a 'nice' 22rf repeater is definitely interesting, I'm leaning towards the Zermatt action (same as Baldie's build), VooDoo's good but the Zermatt has a few nice features. RimX and Ultimatum are in the mix but the Ultimatum comes with a 20" barrel with no chamber options so a bit limited IMHO. 22rf is sometime a bit neglected and ignored? T
  19. Kipper loading cast GC bullets should not be an issue in the 303, are you buying the bullets - are you going to cast them yourself at any point? The Lyman cast bullet manual has a page for the 303, Accurate 5744 (now sold as a Lovex DO60 powder) is a good powder made specifically for use in loose filled loads. My guess is your cast bullet will be between 180-200g so you should be able to comfortably attain 1800 -1900 FPS - more than enough. Loading the 44mag might be a little different, but not much. T
  20. Re. tuners, they do make quite a bit of difference on the couple of rifles I've use them on. The groups became 'rounder' in nature - so might help with your fliers? shooting 22rf' for accuracy/consistency is fun and not too expensive (caveat - ignoring Midas + etc. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ) Will have to go shoot some cards and post. T
  21. ..... or get something turned up from a 5/8 UNF bolt to go into a standard die body perhaps? Custom 457/460 on left, โ€˜31โ€™ M on the right -which you are welcome to. T
  22. Kipper, The other die that is designed around cast bullets is the Lyman M die, this bells the mouth as per the Lee but also expands the whole fo the neck to give a more gentle grip on a cast bullet. With jacketed bullets the amount of grip that is sometimes found by using a FL sizing die does not really matter re deforming the bullets - you just have a lot of tension. This can be too much for a cast bullet, hence the M die sizing the whole of the neck. If you are going to use a gas check and hard cast then this might not be an issue - just something to have in the back of your mind if you have an accuracy problems. T
  23. Dave Donโ€™t think the (woke) police will do anything, nice bit of overtime ( cynical head on ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‚) โ€˜Tis a shame when a minority mess it up for others. Makes you wonder what the true motives are - insuring identity politics rules? ( sorry, thatโ€™s BLM) Who knows? hope you all have a good weekend? T
  24. Some folks cast then sewage to size/compress and voids Swaged billets are nice but can be expensive to set up for think being 30 cal you can have a turned mold made, do you want/need a skirt on the bullet? BACo could turn you up a mold if you told them what you wanted This is interesting stuff ๐Ÿ˜Ž. What weight are you looking. Is it a true 30 cal ie 308, if so you could cast then stage to size using the simple but effective Lee sizer. be good to see your progress/results T
