  1. Martin I‘Ve 38 spl brass you’re welcome to and can probably cut down and trim square a 45-70 or 40-65 brass to give you the other option ( as it’s a wet Saturday 😉) PM me Terry
  2. Martin, The Hornaday 'C' would work or if you are looking specifically for the Wilson design look up the Chamber specs for the Swiss and determine the shoulder angle then go find a more common cartridge with the same angle perhaps? One point when reloading for the 7.5x55 Swiss, I'm assuming you are using the ammunition in something like a K31 (brilliant rifle 😎) ? If so be carful not to be too close on setting back the shoulder i.e. .001-.002. From experience this can cause a misfire as the camming function of the K31's action is prevented from fully closing. The firing pin goes fwd but the rifle does not go off. You can roughly tell by looking at the position of the serial number on the bolt, it should easily end up at 12 o'clock. So go for a .004-.005" set back as a suggestion. Brgds Terry
  3. Very nice indeed Dave, Everything you need and nothing to don't. Tidy bedding job 😎 I know that 'plastic' stocks are not trendy vs chassis but the Sentinel still feels right, although in saying that Terry Cross is coming out with a chassis system in the near future which will be interesting to see?
  4. Nick, As per C-22's comments, have found the AB products very good and the custom curves are not expensive. I've also got Tresol, Strelok (Pro), Lapua's freebie etc. on my phone, they can all be played with, try them see what you get on with, the AB stuffs seems to be most accurate. T
  5. Jeffo, As a guess 3.2% import duty (using tariff code of 930520) whic would be put onto the cost of the item & shipping, then you stick Vat onto all of this. T
  6. Mk2 here you go, http://www.ezellcustomrifles.com/home-3/pdt-tuners/ just a different approach to barrel tuners March Scopes UK have them if you’re interested? Not sure who keeps Harrell’s? brgds Terry
  7. Mk2 put a Harrels on a Annie MPR, used the Purdey method to start with . Found it produced more ‘round’ groups in an already accurate rifle. Does take a bit of setting up initially As stated you find the make of ammo your rifle liked then improve on that. Will be fitting a particle damper on the new 22rf build. T
  8. ....ah, eye ball reloading technique I believe?? (or was that McQueens at Bisley by the same person?? ) 😂
  9. Sorry BD, don't understand your banter 😉😂
  10. Mark, The 'factory ammo' bit is probably your main factor? As per above, probably 6.5 Creed(s)moor. Shot a friends Tikka Tac using Hornady factory ammo a little while back and was really surprised at its consistency. If you reloaded, even using basic tools, then a 6BR would be my choice out to 600 (and probably a bit further). Think Savage do a target type rifle in 6BR. T
  11. PbG, Exactly how it works, you can give a lifetime warranty if you are banging out lots of scopes, so the odd one fails, no worries plenty more dropping off the production line (in relatively cheap sweat shops). I struggle to get to grips with peoples scope manufacturer selection statement 'well they have a life times warranty' on a scope as a primary influence, as it is only a 'toy' after all? Using the same logic (and borrowing your car analogy) they should be driving something like a Kia, it has a 7 year warranty 🙄 I too remember the British car vs the first Japanese (an orange Datsun estate comes to mind) when you realised that cars could always start in the rain 😁
  12. Mark, I personally like grey MarineTex after trying if from recommendation by a known US Gunsmith (and it turns out a couple of good UK ones), it is what the US Marines use (nothing to do with the 'Marine' in MarineTex) when they build rifles. Have found it very nice to work with, consistency of clotted cream, not too bad to clean up. , does come in small 'one stocks worth' pack sizes - Unfortunately not always easy to obtain in the UK Here's an article by Speedy Gonzales who's quite a recognised US gunsmith on the merits of different bedding materials: http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2019/01/bed-it-right-bedding-compounds-compared-by-speedy/ Brgds T
  13. Brock Sometimes feel this is in the same category as discussing politics and religion 😁 Personally I struggle to see the benefit of cleaning the snot out of a rifle every time you use it so my regimes are driven by both the firearm type, its use and thirdly round count. Easiest to clean and fixed method would be BPCR's, cleaned on the point before going into the gun bag, 2 x patches with solvent, 1 x dry patch, 1 x patch with Ballistol. When back home, 1 x patch with Ballistol and a wipe over with Ballistol on all surfaces. Put away. 22rf , barrels seldom cleaned but looking at BR and LR so this might change (NB 'might'). Actions of 22rf do need IMHO a bit of regular TLC especially semi-autos. Good application of a solvent, rimfire magic in this case, tooth brushing, blast out with break cleaner and light lube, Ballistol specific gun lube rather than GP lube. CF rifles again depends on the cartridge, some need more effort re. the chamber end, carbon removal and occasional use of Lusso paste on their own nylon brush. Normal range day with say 60-80 rounds then a 'light clean' Carb-out on a patch and leave for a while, then Wipeout accelerator followed by Wipeout Tactical all this on the VFG felt patches. Remove all cleaning fluids using isopropyl alcohol, then light coating of Ballistol. If deemed necessary deep clean using above method with Robosol process added prior to clean up and storing. Lugs always cleaned regardless using a tool that holds a dental swab thing. Bolts etc. wiped over and cleaned then lubed with Milcom TW25 gun grease. I have two different bore scopes which are used now and then to check things in general, an old Hawkeye and one of the new USB gadgets, the Hawkeye getting most use. As I said, this works for me and I have confidence in my processes - which is after all what your need. Their is no 'right way' to do it. Comment - cannot understand why folks clean rifles between each load during load development, seems counter intuitive to me? Brgds Terry
  14. not sure about the compact bit, but as you need a long barrel and a stock think these are nice, handled one the other day and saw it shoot - very nice: https://www.gunfellas.co.uk/gsg-stg-44-german-made-schmeisser-semi-auto-rifle-22lr-595-p.asp all metal and same weight as the original
  15. The 6.5 CM should be more than capable of reaching 1000 yards accurately - but what model Sauer, twist rate, are you reloading etc. helps folks give suggestions or answers. Is this an occasional 1000 yards use or going to be more often i.e. how important is the 1000 yrds capability Both the 7mmRM & 300WM will have more 'power' than the 6.5CM but think you are after accuracy - yes? T
  16. This (and then some) 😉 When you get to a certain level in optics it becomes what your eye likes, each makers coatings gives a different 'feeling' to what your eye sees/likes/can put up with in extended use.
  17. That is my thinking, looking at the Berger 85.5g Hybrids over R25, should be well past 3000 fps, 1:8 recommended hence the 1:7.5 being fitted. Should be interesting.
  18. BD, Dang, think Tony gave me one of those 😀 need to go and have a dig round?
  19. BD, think the idea is if there are multiple targets at different distances so there is a need to write down the come ups for each target ( caveat: ‘I think?’ 😉). So a tape’n’Sharpie’ is out. But I’m strugglin’ a bit with this if I’m being honest. I can see if there were say 4 targets as remembering 3 come ups might be a problem under pressure. 3 targets not so as only 2 come ups involved. So the card is helpful, but a bloody big one obscuring you’re view of the multiple targets sort of seems funny approach, unless you’re taking your head off the stock each time to find the next target ( not so good); perhaps listing the order of shooting Could someone more enlightened help me out here?
  20. As per Baldie's comment, depends on your end use, standard vermin 1:12, heavy bullets then 8, I'm just having a 22-250 built but with a 1:7.5 to use the rather nice selection of heavy bullets available.
  21. Out of interest (boredom?) an arm mounted 'dope card' would personally be better? You do not need it all the time and I loathe putting crap onto a rifle, actually always looking to make things lighter/simpler. So utilising the same OP's card holder , which is quite nicely made (unfortunately in China) and some wide knicker elastic : All I need to do now is work our what it could be useful for? 😉
  22. MaxO, In base matl. probably not, add in costs of running business(and possibly making in the UK) and then making a living then £20 for the convenience is OK. T
