Think police have always been a bit anti anyone who'd shot before. Many years ago at my old pistol club we had police who wanted to practice but could not be seen to be practicing with us, all very strange. About sums it up 😁

Bit off OP but feel we are currently 'lucky' that the yobs have not discovered house invasions to any great degree. As BD points out response times away from any town are in the 1/2 hours, least was when I lived in Cornwall. Everyone thinks things are 'nice' and safe until something happens to you or one of your family, you then realise how useless the system can be/is. Don't think I'd fancy being an armed cop in todays environment, which is actually a bit hypocritical of me 🙄

Topscots Sorry, the police have not done me any favours both in relation to shooting nor personally when needed so I will criticise. If you feel shooting a potential suicide bomber and not checking they are actually dead is good SOP then plugging them multiple times 10 minutes later when he wakes up we can agree to disagree. Concur I would not know what to do if confronted with a bomber. If the average armed policeman is as you say not sufficiently trained then he should not be armed - period.

Does read a bit ‘iffy’, from memory of the videos at the time it was handguns initially. not exactly great advertising for armed plod 😳

I do find it hard to understand the mind set of someone or a cluster of people who harbour malice and deliberately want to do others harm or make their lives miserable? Very strange way to behave. Childish at best, a bit unbalanced at worst, puts a question in my mind if these are folks who should have unsupervised access to firearms? As to ‘too much noise’ was on Stickledown when some LEO types were shooting handguns ( poorly 😳) in the small range in the left. one came over and asked us to move as the rifles were too loud - just hope if they really have to play cops and robbers the robbers are using suppressors 😂😂

Thank you 2dogs, this all started with a county scorers course but the more I’m getting into the details more I see different rules for different comps, eg difference between BR, NSRA and ISSF rules, even on how a target is noted on to show gauging. Have now accumulated some plug gauges and overlays brgds T

....This and then some 🙄😁 I had a re-visit of the web site, trying to be positive but it is very easy to become a bit jaundiced, not much info, I read the only available verbiage, the Constitution & Policy and found it a bit unnecessarily Woke and contradictory in places. With Gardeners and the RMPRA shoots being very 'inclusive' and fun (and lots of them) plus arranging my own trips to Orion etc. I'm not sure what the GBPRA can contribute - apart from being the (self nominating as) WC selectors? Perhaps it's just the lockdown that is tainting my POV?

BD, It is allowed in the current version of 'PR' (add whatever suffix you like) competitions therefore folks will use them if it gives them a few more points. Same as any sport, if it's in the rules then you can use it. 'PR' , as observed by Mr Galli, has become barricade bench rest, MD's come up with challenging stages and competitors find way's to negate the challenge thru' (allowable) props, it's just a game and not meant (I believe?)to be real world at all. There was a glimmer of hope re. the Hunter class - then you see a video with a guy running round with a (big ol') tripod attached to his rifle FFS!! But, If you do not want to go that way you do not have to, I too have a dislike for 18-20 pound rifles, lots of bags (just choose 1 and run with it). The predecessor comps to 'PR' were great fun and a personal challenge and even the top shooters only made about 50% of the available points -it was difficult and meant to be that way. Each to their own, I'm no longer competitive anymore (both in capability or attitude) and just shoot for fun, might try a tripod for S&G's, who knows? T

Have a couple of the C-21 hand priming tools for 'accurate' rifle application along with their adjustable primer pocket reamer, need both tools to do it right IMHO. Also have the older Lee hand tools for gallery 38spl (where I end up doing s slew in volume) and rifle cartridges that use BP as not so critical. Not tried any bench mounted units but could see there would (should?) be less effort.

Ronin, The AICS is designed such that you do not need to bond an AI action, you ‘un- glue’ your existing then bolt into the new chassis. T

Dave Think folding stock will be an option. Tried the 6.5 Cm version which then had one of The Valkyrie MB’s fitted, very effective design with, by the looks of it, gas ‘defectors’ ( for want of a better term) in each chamber T

If you are shooting off a barricade or more so off tripods then this straight line recoil does make a difference as you are trying to spot your shots , this is aimed at the ‘PR’ market not square on scored back paper. As to ‘why not a tube gun?’ Cannot answer you on that only my observation that no one at any ‘PR’ matches I’ve been to ( pre money making and post) I’ve not seen a tube gun used and ( I hate pointing folks to the US) look at the ‘what the pros use’ do not think they feature there? Caveat the one comp where there was close to a tube was where David Tubb was using his T2000 and he lost to a ‘standard’ rifle. Tube rifles work, but perhaps not in all applications?

Designed to accept’AR’ grips so you can fit a vertical etc. If you should so wish.

The AT-X AICS had its world preview yesterday. the chassis is the same configuration and design features as the rifle but takes the existing 308 size AICS magazine system. initial inlet is for Rem700 clones, the AI actions ( if you want to un-glue your existing rifle) with Tikka T3 planned for future. There will be a 22rf version of the chassis which will have a 3” shorter forend should you wish. Dave Wylde demonstrated the ease of swapping from the demo REM 308 to a Bergara 22rf, which when swapped back did not change the POI of the 308. One small neat thing for me is the 2 action bolts are captive in the chassis, nice detail. Shooting the old 308 ( glittery brick 😉) in the AT-X chassis was very stable and the difference between the AI target trigger and the slightly upgraded Rem700. Again the rifle is neutral in recoil, straight back 😎

Shooting the rifle at various distances was spot on, felt right and even though it was steels it grouped with the Hornady factory ammunition This is a nice rifle, take a bit to impress me these days but it just feels ‘right’. In base form it is lighter than some but you can add weights inside the forend or on the outside. Natural balance with no weights is just about perfect at just in front of the mag well - which is a barricade stop. A RRS ARCA rail runs the complete length of the forend.

UKV was invited the UK launch of the new AI competition rifle and chassis where both the rifle and chassis were displayed and available to shoot on the Cohbam range, Bisley. I will follow up this post with more detail but thought folks would be interested in a ‘snap shot’ or these products, first the AT-X rifle Proven AI action, fitted with their competition trigger which is a fully adjustable 2 stage and as tested very nice, crisp at, as a guess, about 1 1/2 pounds. Rifle comes in 6.5 Creedmoor and is fitted with AI’s now made in house barrel. The chassis has had input from shooters both sides of the pond with the most significant feature being the lowering of the barrel in the chassis, recoil is noticeably straight back, IMHO feels ‘less’ and certainly reduces (removes) muzzle climb between shots - off a tripod you remained on target. The actual form of the chassis is a bit more svelte compared to others out their , the pistol grip is AR fitting so adding for you favourite is simple. Butt end is fully adjustable in all planes. The top cover for the for-end comes in different lengths

Yes, made from a good steel unlike a lot of others that can flex and lips bend = right old PIA 😧 Couple of my mags must be over 20 years old now and are carry overs from when I shot a 308. T
