  1. S11(4) is not a loophole, it is the entry point for many in to the world of shooting and is part of the law as written. It is abused by one or two, as are many laws, and the police and courts can sort them out. There are many clubs and organisations that use the 11(4) exemption to run a successful operation and the NSRA use it (they used to be called the Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs - or something similar). The NSRA doesn't have their own FAC, they operate under the 11(4) exemption. It appals me that shooters are so willing to throw to the wolves something and/or someone that they don't like or understand - reminds me of: "First they came for the self loading rifles I did not speak out, when they came for the pistols I didn't speak out because I didn't shoot pistols, when they came for the LR and MARS they weren't for me, when they came for few firearms that were left there was no one left to speak up for me." S11(4) is doomed partly because of twats like Hammond on the M25 and partly because so many shooters don't understand it so fear it.
  2. The fact you are asking shows you have doubts and I think you already know the answer. Label it up and put it to one side and use it to start a bonfire. Or better still get rid of it sooner (doesn't it make good fertiliser?).
  3. The 21:1 mix I use is a lot thinner than 12:1 and I've no issues with either clogging or stuck cases.
  4. Roy has it right. No time limit for applying for the 1-4-1 but there is a limit on the time to tell them of any transaction, and it doesn't have to be the same type (although some forces try to insist it is like-4-like but will back down if pressed). It is asked that the 1-4-1 is done in a timely manner to help the firearms department mainly but there is no actual limit except the expiry/renewal date of the FAC.
  5. The calibres you (we) are granted permission to acquire depend on a few factors. Your request to possess it. Why you want it. Your access to somewhere to actually shoot the calibre in question for that reason. Finally your previous shooting experience.
  6. use a 1.5-5 power scope. I've found the smaller magnification better for the more dynamic comps and 5 power is more than enough for 25-35yds of the other GR comps I shoot. I have shot against those with 4-10 power or similar and on the quick fire rounds and speed steels although they may shoot the targets quicker I can find them faster so finish before them. the wider field of view of 1.5 power is often the biggest advantage of the scope.
  7. Sawbridgeworth. I'll message you details.
  8. Paul, As an RFD in East Herts, I can take it off your hands. 😎
  9. I would think you'd get the most un-uniform barrel conditions, shot to shot, for the first few shots. Unless you clean and allow to cool between each shot. True the starting conditions should be the same but the first shot will lay some residue down the barrel, the next will remove some and lay some more, and so on. It'll take a few shots before the last bullet fired removes the same amount of residue as it leaves behind giving you the most uniform conditions, shot to shot.It may be predictable but it does alter the POA/POI. It's what fouling shots are for.
  10. The way I see it the biggest problem with keeping mods on is the moisture they 'attract'. Usually, modded rifles are used at night or in the late/early hours when the air is cool and most likely damp. You fire and the hot gas fills the mod, when it cools it draws in the moist air which you eventually take home and if the mod is left on the moisture sits and condenses in the firing residue in the mod, on the crown and possibly down into the barrel. Taking it off will allow the air to circulate and the moisture to evaporate more easily. I have seen some good rifle barrels (and mods) ruined by leaving the moderator on.
  11. Is it the shape or colour of the mags that is a problem? Or the fact that most of the 22 mags have screws all the way round and/or a thin part down the middle? The only ones I have seen that fit the bill totally are the M261 mag insert (and the Air Force conversion kit that I haven't seen in the UK) as these use the standard magazines. CMMG make a good looking mag just needs the holes filling and painting to get the colour correct.
  12. I use Bullseye, 4.4gn with a 220gn bullet. It's a bit fast as powders go but never had a problem yet. It is slightly up on the load I used in my pistol and it is on the lighter side, think more 44spl in a magnum case.
  13. I'm curious how many will have jobs where they'll be allowed to take a few weekdays off just after coming back from furlough. 🤔
  14. I haven't got the old CoF here to look at but from my poor memory aren't the frames only really used for triple Fig11s and showing scores on things like multiple target practices/run downs? I think almost everything else is hand held or on turning frames (CQB).
  15. What happens if you mount your scope on a 20MOA rail? The OP is off centre by 5mm, about the diameter of a 223 bullet, I wonder how many mm of the target is hidden by the thickness of the crosshair at 100yds. That could account for some of the error right there. What size group are you getting? Anything greater than ¼" and I wouldn't worry.
  16. Hadn't thought of that. Perhaps he's making room in the cabinet and generating funds for all the ARs and pistols he can buy now.
  17. These can be the shooter's worst friend. It can make you doubt an otherwise perfect rifle and then you'll worrying about what you saw in the borescope rather than what you see in the riflescope. You'll already have your excuses. They have their place but as with many things, don't over think it.
  18. I should think no. I'd charge a bit more for that service. 🤪Sorry. Couldn't resist.
  19. Just right for Tactical Skeet. Not sure they'd want a long barrelled over and under on the balcony. BTW, they'll all be at the 40th celebration of the Tasmanian Embassy Siege this week.
  20. Sorry, I was thinking it was a different Lee press. I don't think that's possible on this one.
  21. Can you remove the thinner lock ring? That will give you a few mm extra travel with the die. You can always use the grub screw to lock the ring to the die.
  22. As with many things concerning firearms; the police, RFDs and the FAC 'end-user' doesn't always know the law or comply with it fully. Take distance selling - many dealers don't follow the rules, they are written on the FACs even and breaking FAC conditions affects the holder as well, Take posting firearms - it doesn't have to go from a dealer, and it doesn't always need to go to an RFD (depending upon circumstances). The law is so convoluted it needs sorting out, but I can only see any re-write causing more trouble.
  23. I bought a few off Viking when they stopped importing and wanted to get rid of them. They were a big surprise at how well they shot and the ease of use. Not the best finish but certainly good enough and the barrel floats. My only niggle was we had a few feeding troubles with some of the rifles. It turned out to be a small burr on the inside of one feed lip on the magazine. A little light filing and all sorted. We try to keep mag and rifle together and not swap them around and this works.
  24. The CZ452/455 are great rifles and good value. A couple of years ago we bought some CBC MagTech bolt guns as beginner's rifles, and these are excellent value for money and as accurate as the CZ. I was amazed at how good they shot for the money.
