I also have a GSG 1911 that I like to shoot. Good 22LR ammo is hard to find here. In this area, you can't just go buy a box of SK or Eley. It's all by mail order. That is how I got my small stock of SK Biathlon, The only exception is that the local ranch supply sells old stock "Federal Ultra Match" which is RWS rebranded by Federal. They mistakenly ordered a large quantity of it and some of us have been buying it at $12.50/50 and stashing it away. (It will as good as I can hold from my Tikka) The Biathlon is almost as accurate in my Tikka at half the price so I have tried to stock up on that for general shooting. In truth though, the accuracy from my Tikkas ( I have three of them in the house) has been great with everything but the last LOT of CCI Subsonic: Horrible in that it shot 3/4" at 50. The Tikka my girlfriend shoots will ring a 3.5" steel swinger at 200 yards with inexpensive, Eley-primed Aguila Standard Velocity as often as the wind and good follow-through will allow. All of ours are 20 inch models and other than cleaning the action and bolt, the bore is left untouched. It is quite dry in Montana so this is never a problem. When we do clean the bore -like after a windy, dusty outing- it's a patch with a scant drop of oil, followed by dry patches. That is all the cleaning it ever needs. ~Andrew The difference in your gsg and mine is I have a 12 inch barrel and a steel rod hanging off the grip to make it legal over here, it has to be 24 inches overall lengh
Andrew
Here, the BATF would consider the rod a shoulder stock, condemn the whole rig as a short barreled rifle and toss you in prison! It's all madness. I like my GSG and once used it for informal bowling pin shoots. I still shoot it whenb th efit takes me. ~Andrew

One on top of two
Well seeing as everyone seems to be having fun I thought I would have a go as soon as I get a nice day ( not too windy ) I only had one box of my usual.22 subs ( RWS subsonic- field line ) and after messing about and zeroing my scope on my new rifle I only had 20 rounds left and I used one to check my hold over at 100m . and some Winchester 42 grain subs for a bit of a comparison, i shot at 60m and 100m off a bipod from a Heston bale , 60 m is my usual zero for my rimfire and so the 100m was hold over I couldn’t be assed to mess with the scope and to be honest I tend to just use the reticule as I only shoot to 100m max anyway with the rimmy . nothing really to write home about but it’s clear to see the RWS is a clear winner there was about 2-3 mph leftish to right wind as you can see by the markers on field and before anyone asks yes I did fluff the 60m RWS target , I pulled one shot and after telling myself of for the school boy error, I went and done the same thing again ....Doh but that’s life . Mark II
Did some more ammo testing at the weekend with the T1X at 50m any crossed out shots were my doing. Not sure what happened to the sk match its normally better than that.
Andrew
I'd say it shoots very well. Good shooting on your part also. I just ordered some Lapua Center X. It was the only 22LR ammunition my main distributor had and I've been wanting to try it. I suspect it will shoot as well as I can hold. ~Andrew

The whole thrust of this thread is that people shouldn't ignore the parts of their groups that they don't like just because it's a .22! 😂😊😊

The frustration of the. 22 rimfire ammo can drive you mad😨

I don't understand how shots are not counted in the group regardless of reason. Brexit pro euro thinking. If I discounted shots I messed up I would be incredibly good lol. I agree what you are saying but I am testing ammo not my shooting ability unfortunately I don't have a proper rest to put the rifle in to take the shooter error out of the equation once I have finished the ammo testing and found what works best it will be purely my fault if it all goes wrong which it probably will. But I will still put it in a oryx chassis when I get the funds

Dr. Strangelove
Has anyone been able to get out recently? I’ve currently just got my BAR22 but seriously tempted by a bolt action .22 for longer range work!

I'm not sure a bolt will necessarilly be noticeably more accurate than a BAR22... put enough scope on the BAR and give it a go. Mine is silly accurate. fourtyvoats
Shot recently on a very still day at 50 metres . Rifle was Anschutz 1712 in an MDT stock. Ammo was red SKC.A perfect 200 although one shot needed gauging and was in.
