  1. We lost our old boy in April, he was a Battersea boy and was 17. Our other JRT is an aggressive bitch and in charge of the two lurcher lads. Although we would like another rescue, fitting in a potentially also abrasive character into the pack might not be possible. For this reason we had thought about buying a pup. BUT! When did they get soooo expensive? I've seen prices north of £3000!! Worse still, when did a crossbreed cost over a grand? A couple of hundred or three is doable, but four figures? Come on!! Any pointers?
  2. I thought this was going to be about gun dogs. I'll get me coat.....
  3. That's basically Wilko's knock off of WD40. Good stuff. https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/3-in-one-200ml-original-multi-purpose-oil-spray/p/0242762 This is good too, available in poundshops for er, a pound! 😁
  4. That's odd, sorry for the misinfo.
  5. Have you tried NFU? Farmers often have quad bikes and the NFU insure all sorts of stuff. I've got a recovery truck with them and I'm not a farmer! 😁
  6. Here's hoping for another success this year Dan!
  7. I misread that as loser applies the sauce and was going to ask to where. I'll get me coat......
  8. It's now clear the competitions are going ahead. I can confirm that there will be NRA markers as I am in possession of an application form.
  9. Good to know Deserttech! Bisley didn't have the target centres so I had to improvise. All part of the service!
  10. Ended up stapling the circles on to the target. It worked OK, don't think anybody noticed. Unless they read this......
  11. I went with circles of white paper in the end. I usually have pritt stick in me kit. Let you know how l get on tomorrow.
  12. Sorry to drag up an old thread. I can't get hold of the 5" white target centres for clients. The NRA are no help. At this rate l will be doing a Blue Peter with 3" centres! Any ideas?
  13. Just tried to PM you, it said you can't recieve messages Deserttech!
  14. 1200 is Stickledown, to the right hand side of the range only. There are maybe four electronic targets that side of the range, I have marked 1200, but very rarely.
  15. Hmmmm, there's a suspicion that Bisley are only booking the young markers because they are cheaper than those over 25. All I can say for sure is they aren't booking the older markers. If you don't want a bored teenager on your target, best book a private marker.....
  16. I get what you mean Leeman, maybe I didn't put it clearly. Either way, according to the NRA Bible, it doesn't look unusual for shooters to mark targets in competitions, if there's a shortage of markers.
  17. It's always been mentioned before that shooters would have to supply markers for competitions, if there was a shortage of NRA markers, it's in the NRA Bible. It could be the NRA can't organise enough markers in time. Last year, the Imperial was 17 days solid, and there was very little else happening at Bisley. There was approximately 130 markers across the ranges at any one time. To be fair, I doubt this Autumn will be on the same scale. When it says no paid markers, does that mean paid by the NRA or paid at all? F Class don't use NRA markers and CSR self mark. So that leaves Trafalgar, Autumn Action ect. Not as intensive on the marker front as the regular Imperial. So I don't understand why there would be a problem getting markers.
  18. Good news indeed! Just one thing, usually the NRA start looking for markers in May for the Imperial in July. I hope there will be enough to go round. That said, it doesn't sound as intense as the usual Imperial so it might be ok.....
  19. I know what you mean. Dodgyrog, we lost our 15 year old lurcher (ex Battersea) a year ago in November. We weren't looking, but our vet rang a month later and asked us to foster a saluki lurcher that the dog warden had brought in. Eighteen month later he's still here!
  20. I am very sorry to hear of your loss John MH, they don't live long enough do they.
  21. @justin credible is that eight?? I thought we were mad with four! Well three since the old JRT went. Are those borders?
  22. According to Facebook, competition details will finalised in July.
