  1. I just had a look at the membership and I don't think they would have me without a 5 day training course!
  2. I got sweet FA from the NRA, we get told nothing! Luckily it's on the public facebook page, it was RobinC that prompted me to look.
  3. Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant outdoor competitions at Bisley. All the electronic targets are removed for competitions like the Imperial. I just checked the NRA Facebook and the dates are not clear. At one point it states Mon 4 July. Also no mention of Tuesdays . At least the bogs are open again!
  4. Yes, obviously I do work on manual targets. I'm an NRA marker, as well as a private marker. As I am told I am better than OK, we obviously haven't met across the ranges. I can't remember when I last had a message 4. Interestingly electronic targets aren't used for competitions. As you can see from the other posts in this thread, electronic targets aren't suitable for all disciplines. I could tell you many many stories about the electronic targets going wrong. Every time I get a control radio, I hear somebody complain about the electronic targets. As much as it seems the NRA would like to be rid of the markers, it's not going to happen any time soon, so I look forward to marking for you some time in the future 😁
  5. I think you have had bad markers in the past. Have you only had NRA markers?
  6. I heard that on the radio. It also said that the NHS app could barely find iPhones, and only found 75% of android. Now it looks like they will be going with an apple/Google developed app. Yay! Not just the gov having a rummage through my phone, but also two of the most intrusive multi nationals too. What could possibly go wrong...... For the record, I am fully behind track and trace. I just don't see the point of involving (in this case) unreliable gimmicky technology. Added to which, giving the government and multi nationals access to my details is a big no no.
  7. A 5L petrol can comes in handy too. Choose one that's the opposite of your vehicles fuel to prevent nasty refuelling mistakes!
  8. I can't help how I grew up.......
  9. For weeing into? So much better than a coke bottle..... 😉
  10. Not of my generation, but respect all the same for her war effort. RIP Dame Vera
  11. It never ceases to amaze me how little some people are prepared. Not talking about those who have posted on this thread obviously. They're the people who go up Snowdon in flip flops. I've got food, clothes and boots in my van, and water.
  12. There's nothing I can do about ANPR and cctv, so that doesn't bother me. No point in being bothered about something I can't change. I just listened to the track and trace ad on the radio. It doesn't stress the app. It's humans that do the tracking and tracing. The app itself is only a part of it. If it was entirely the app, what about the people who don't have a smart phone? Aside from this, the app itself may not be available until next year as it's not yet perfected. As for choosing a private marker who had the app, I would have thought the ability to accurately mark a target would've been the main factor. At least one of my clients never turns his mobile on. So having an app would be neither here nor there, assumiing his phone could handle the app. Would you not want to be on the next firing point as somebody without the app? Or is it only markers without the app you don't want to deal with? What about the NRA markers? How would find out if they had the app? As I said the app hasn't been perfected yet, so it's not like it's essential, important or even relevant is it?
  13. Of course I think it's a good idea to protect others, I have been doing it since the lockdown. I honestly don't think the app is the way to go, least of all the way the government has structured it. Other apps that have been developed stored info on the phone, the NHS one insists on keeping it in one central location. Aside from that, I come into so few people as it is.
  14. Sorry but there's no way I would install that track and trace app. Don't care if it sounds paranoid, I don't trust anything to do with the government, even the NHS having access to my phone.
  15. Any more news on this, now Bisley is partially open and will probably be fully open then?
  16. Gutted. A mate of mine has got a private marker job on a manual target ahead of me on Friday!
  17. I agree about tap water. Haven't bought bottled water in years. Life Straw is good for anything else, down to a puddle.
  18. Get yourself a life straw filter. Good for tap water and rain water. They are WHO approved .
