  1. Whilst my comment that they have to pay for the hand gel was a joke, there is an element of truth in it. Weekend only opening must have actually cost money, as it's the limited lanes available has of course in turn limited revenue. Baby steps, I understand, but don't make the paying members pay for the alterations that aren't their fault. An extra half day on Friday mornings is a step in the right direction.
  2. N/A means they don't normally offer electronic targets by the hour at weekends. On the table, an hour's hire in the week is £20. At the moment, if you managed to get a full half day, you would pay more for an electronic than a half day on a manual target with an NRA marker.
  3. Well I suppose they have to pay for the hand gel somehow...
  4. The way it's going September could be the first work I get after the lockdown!
  5. Welcome to the forum mate!
  6. Buy yourself a camper. By September they will probably be cheaper than a hotel! Also, Fat Tony's is open now so should be open for competitions. I can recommend a top chippy 10 mins from Bisley.
  7. Reading the comments on Facebook I see somebody's noticed the hourly rate for the electronic targets has gone up.....
  8. You need a manual target, and a person with two ears!
  9. We lost our JRT boy a few weeks ago. He came to us from Battersea 16 years ago. He was a top ratter, the hilight of his career being him getting a rat under the Eifel Tower! Missing him badly. No rush, but if anybody can point me in the direction of another, that would be good.
  10. I don't get what you mean Mattnall. Who is taking time off?
  11. From reading the NRA Facebook page, I had a feeling it wasn't busy. On it they were offering slots for tomorrow. Given booking opened on Tuesday, I thought they would be fully booked. Maybe it was all the "one firer, one hour, one booking" put people off. I know it was possible to book more than one slot but that wasn't instantly obvious.
  12. Oh. Well you can't blame that on the electronic targets ha ha ha!
  13. Butt ten's target frames are fine. It was refurbished, new roof and everything. I have only ever seen it in use for the Imperial.
  14. Have to agree with you Sapper811! I'm fitter now than I was a year ago...
  15. I don't want to go too far off topic, but there are good and bad frames. On the second day I worked at Bisley I was asked if I had any aches and pains. Honestly I didn't. I'm not a gym bunny or a twenty something, though I have always had physical jobs. The frames are counterbalanced. Some have wood, some bricks or concrete. You can't pop down to the target as the hooter goes. I get there half an hour early and try the target up and down. That's when you make any adjustments or apply grease. I knew a professional marker who carried a brick to add to the frame. Another used a 5L container of water. It's part of the service most shooters (and even the NRA) don't see.
  16. Keep us informed Elwood! As for normality returning, Bisley did say bookings were cancelled up to 1 June. That may indicate regular bookings would be honoured after that. Who knows?
  17. Thanks John MH. It works this time. Reading that, looks like loads of fun. Not.
  18. Fig 11 and fig 12 might be the answer then. Baldy the frames can be awkward, but I manage. I'm no kid, but even on the first day it wasn't too bad.
  19. To be honest, Roy W I haven't asked. I don't have a lot of confidece in getting answer. Dorg I look forward to it!
  20. So what if that happens with the social distancing in place? There are no guarantees.
  21. CSR are self marking and (worse) tend to have two markers per target. Not sure how social distancing would work there. Electronics are not an option with CSR as far as I can tell.
  22. I am wanting to go back to work. In a direct email to me it was explained that Bisley was "concerned about social distancing in the butts". I didn't understand that. If every other target is used, that's plenty of room sideways. As to getting to a target, you can walk down the sand between the targets and sand bank. It's that simple. Bisley is treating us all like the under fives. The person who emailed me has even, on occasion, been a private marker so it's not like they never saw the butts before. As far as I can tell it would be possible for me to do private marking whilst on furlough. Oh and I have never let anyone down, not Bisley or a private client.
