I fancy having a go at some far away targets again.ive not done any since the 50 cal club stopped shooting on Salisbury plain (javelin range). It was nice watching them tracers go out to the 2450yd gong hanging off the tanks barrel

Do you intend buying new....? Why not buy a top quality used scope that has a lifetime warranty/long warranty....! Not sure you can have too much scope. That's the beauty of variable magnification. Turn it up or down to suit your needs

Maybe they've been shot at and missed and noticed the ir light then it becomes an association thing

Vortex golden eagle 15-60x52 if you want plenty of magnification. The gun pimp (Vince Bottomley) Did a review on it on target shooter and well worth a read. I purchased a second hand one recently and it seems very good glass,I've only used it once so far and I like it.

I wasn't aware you travelled that far, Alot of the club members I know travel as far and further than me ,there is some more local shooters but I only know a few, it's more a case of finding the time in the busy lives we lead Ive only ever been there once in 8 years on a week day that was a Friday and i stayed overnight.

Good for you Pete, I too had to work 🙄 . I get up there quite often these days but all my shooting is mainly club comps, 100 miles each way is a long way for a plinking session, if I lived closer I would do my load work there for sure.

What disciplines do you intend using the rifle for or Is it just a extreme long range plinker. Do you intend doing any comps with it..? What extreme range comps are there besides the recent Gardiners range I glimpsed somewhere a couple of weeks ago.

Fun is what it's all about.i know quite a few shooters who have the bigger more capable calibre rifles yet they choose to do it with a less capable calibre.
