Cases - to clean or not?
Richiew replied to Ralpharama's topic in Target Shooting & Informal Long Range Shooting Practice
Anyone tried stainless media as an addition to put in a vibratory cleaner along with the corncob . Or plastic triangle media . There’s a lot available for industrial uses and different sizes and shapes . -
Cases - to clean or not?
Richiew replied to Ralpharama's topic in Target Shooting & Informal Long Range Shooting Practice
Hi there I’m cleaning the 308 for target work with a walnut vibrating thing but still have black inside the cases and sometimes a dirty stain on the neck . As for 223 I’m only cleaning the neck with some scotch brite then neck bushing resizing then reloading for foxy . Anyone using a LEM tumbler?? cheers -
Try Dauntsey guns web page . you’ve just reminded me to get another 200 lapua 308 cases . Just ordered these so only 100 left on the web page .

Easy option , as I’ve had similar issues with stock not being as advertised . Just go elsewhere. I’ve learnt the hard way and bought other gear in stock to use up my credit. Now I ll ring up or email first to check for availability then stick with my new found trusted suppliers. Waiting for the reloading world to settle down a bit but if you’ve got favourites buy in bulk more than you need it’ll always come in handy. cheers

There’s a few powders similar ish to n150/ 550 ie the win760 and the 4350 . So possibly 41 to 45 area , starting low etc . Hope it’s useful

Form Sabre Rimfire Stock
Richiew replied to Novice1's topic in Suppressors / Moderators, Bipods, Anything else
Think it’s only tikka t1x or CZ inlets . Looks like a new model from form . Got a Churchill thumbhole stock on my tikka t3 which needed a bit of fettling , ie taking off some wood near the cheek piece to allow the bolt to fully pull backwards without causing any bending/removal problems. All ok now and it’s very comfortable and fully adjustable version . The sabre looks non adjustable and maybe rather basic going by the price . Hope this was helpful -
Wind and Strelok Pro
Richiew replied to Ralpharama's topic in Target Shooting & Informal Long Range Shooting Practice
Hi there lads Im using a kestrel 2500 on a vane on a camera tripod and manually put info into StrelokPro. Often find StrelokPro gives far too much wind click’s so I start at half of what it says then build up to get on target . Kestrel does wind speed, temperature , pressure etc , compare the windmeter to StrelokPro s own get weather info button. Shooting to 300+ doesn’t need much compensation but 600 and beyond to a 1000 will . Trued up StrelokPro when shooting at eskdalemuir to the actual drop by tweaking bc when I’ve measured and put in the actual fps speed. Or if your happy with the bc info just tweak your speed to match up actual drop to predicted drop . In a 308 my prediction at 300 will be at most .2 mils out depending on weather. So no big deal . Cheers -
Fiocchi are excellent in 308 lapua cases . Last lot came as 1500 in a box . Down to my last few now and moving onto try Muron . Cheers

Richiew replied to newsatten's topic in Target Shooting & Informal Long Range Shooting Practice
StrelokPro gives a 308 ,175 gtbullet 1.6 mils or your full adjusted windage. , for a side wind of about 9 mph at a thousand yards. Sandb blurb says it’s ideal for benchrest or F-class use . Standard windage is 6 mils or 60 cm at 100 m on my ultrashort/ high power scopes. Defo need to aim off . Good luck -

How many rounds?
Richiew replied to BobSki's topic in Suppressors / Moderators, Bipods, Anything else
On a good day out I’ll shoot off 200 rounds and have less fouling than that shown . Don’t like the look of the blue gunge . It could have been used and badly stored without any cleaning. A good clean and a check with a bore camera. -
How many rounds?
Richiew replied to BobSki's topic in Suppressors / Moderators, Bipods, Anything else
Not after just 50 rounds . That’ll need a good soak in carbon remover to shift/ loosen that lot . Scotchbrite 3m stuff will help. Check the state of the barrel too . Good luck -
Sick of reloading .223. What are my options???
Richiew replied to chaz's topic in General Discussion
15000 grain s in a 1 kg tub easy numbers !! So will make 600 charges of 25 grain (£98). 6 times £29 per 100 bullets = £174. £8.33 per 100 primers =£49.98 £321 per 600 rounds not including brass price . Brass comes free after the initial outlay of buying factory ammo. Cheers Rich -
Sick of reloading .223. What are my options???
Richiew replied to chaz's topic in General Discussion
Had my tikka a few years now and am still using the original sako brass from my first 100 rounds bought ( 55 grain soft points ) think these were £22 a box . If you compare loaded rounds price against factory price I found that after I’d made 600+ rounds of 308 with ex factory cases used , I had already covered the cost of a basic rcbs kit. I try to build up about 20 rounds from foxing and plinking then reload. Then it’s not too much of a pain. Cheers -

You’ll need to measure the length of barrel forward of the stock and buy something which will not foul the frontal area . The wildcat predator 12 has models from compact upto full size and a plus 1 size . MAE models are very nicely designed. Otherwise just a forward mounted one from ase . cheers -
