This is my set up , still slow but very accurate. Would a version 4 be worth the expense ????

22 lr pass through bunnies and I’ve moved onto cci 20 grain jacketed bullets in the 17 hmr which don’t expand much at all . Mostly using target bullets for fox nowadays and pick up all the shot carcasses.

Thought most bullets no matter what type usually pass through so very little lead in the carcass to pollute any raptors feeding on left over meat . Pick up your dead shot animals and there won’t be a problem????

Can easily see bullet holes at 300 m with my scope at 27x . For more I have a spotting scope with 20-60 x eyepiece. Biggest problem is mirage at that distance. Splashes on steel is ok but holes at 1000 on paper are going to be hard to spot .

Thumbhole. With 100 and 300 yard groups in 308 ,Berger 185 juggernauts , 44.5 grain of N150 , 2.234” cbto . Happy days nauts

Worthwhile trying a tab gear biathlon sling to spread the load , but otherwise I’d try ambush tactics.

Just looked at the price of iron sights £300 plus for a pair of AW ones . Mirage band from dolphin rifles and a screw out of the bucket in the garage much cheaper!!!

It’s a stainless Allen bolt and nut to fit in the hole but not all the way through to hit the barrel so I can use a mirage band as said above. The thread protector does have a hole in but don’t think it’s threaded. We often do the same with nuts at work to make sure they don’t bind up on dirty threads ( non load bearing) ,easy to squirt some release oil into . The other option is to cut a groove inside the thread protector across the thread s ie front to back with a hacksaw to the depth of the thread this will then clear any carbon out as you put the protector on . A small wire brush in your tool box helps too at the range . Cheers

GREAT IDEA . Think an AT in 6.5 will do it all . Long range targets and deer etc . Probably wouldn’t bother with the 243 . Keep the 223 for night time foxing. No problems with removing barrel then putting it back on and no significant zero shift - maybe a click or two just an Allen key and a spanner to fit the flats on the barrel . Hand tighten to put it back in then a nip on the Allen bolt . Mark the barrel and action with a dot of tipex then you’ll have a reference point. Simples!!!!! One rifle to rule them all .

Got the WIEBAD cheek cover and am very happy with it. Much softer feel and still has the grip . Fastening Velcro works a treat. Just need to get the hoptic one removed. cheers all

Looking good for uk bullet manufacturing. Lots of good options for expanding ammo at low velocity and match / target bullets to come . Btw good looking AT there cheers

Going by the colour options it must be black . Maybe too much light/ flash on the photo s . Nice bit of kit .

223 Tikkas come in varmint 20” 1:8” inch twist so would do 53 grain Vmax upto lapua 77 grain types . With a moderator you’re going to be 24” . Even my 16” barrelled.22 lr ends up about 22” with a mod on it .

What’s your favourite 223 fox bullet . Richiew posted a topic in Varminting Hi all Any info on good bullets for foxing in 223 . Have a 1:8” tikka . Currently using 60 grain Berger varmint and also 52 grain Amax which are very good but not always available. How do 53 grain v- max work. Cheers Rich Hi there have a look at the above thread for info on the 223 . Fast 1:8” twist tikka is doing great in a form thumbhole stock . Maybe should have gone for the tikka tac a1 but fancied the stainless look. There’s a pic of 73 g bergers on a yellow plate which shows good accuracy. Currently reloading for @70 pence. As usual if component’s are in stock buy in bulk . Good luck in your choice.

County Cleveland. If you don’t ask/ need too many it seems a smoother journey. Also size of storage locker will dictate how much you can store . My top storage locker of the bratton sound 14 shotgun cabinet is full with my allotted amount and have no need to store more .

My last renewal I added .223 for fox and asked for 100 rounds . All went through ok . First grant was 600 .22 , 400 hmr and 200 .308 . 100 of 223 let me try a few packs of ammo and settled on sako 55 grain soft points. Reloaded ever since . cheers

Yep that’s the one. Not too happy with its coverage of my AT cheek piece and did a review on the sporting services website which didn’t get put on their pages . They’re happy to put good reviews on tho . WIEBAD one looks good but it is a fair price £50 plus £8 postage, any info regards cheaper places . cheers
