Paddy, I doubt if anyone will be using slow loads in them, my guess is more than 1000 less than 2000, but just too many variables when you get into this type of shooting. Think you just have to treat the barrel as a consumable and add say 75p/round to each shot fired at each outing and put the money into a pot π³ Have a trawl round the US sites perhaps, more users. T

.... bit off OP and possibly a bit sad, but this threadβs been one of the more interesting parts of my week. Iβm off the Gin, gone over to using wine in my over night oats! π -
Cam, perhaps something like these? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stainless-Polishing-Magnetic-Tumbler-Polishers/dp/B07M91FQ94/ref=pd_lpo_60_t_0/259-5601924-5356961?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07MMSXK1P&pd_rd_r=b678007e-34d3-4fea-b93b-d3174c52c0d4&pd_rd_w=QeDjA&pd_rd_wg=nBCc8&pf_rd_p=7b8e3b03-1439-4489-abd4-4a138cf4eca6&pf_rd_r=S3M58QY6QGQNMDFBZ49Z&psc=1&refRID=S3M58QY6QGQNMDFBZ49Z They are 5mm and various diameters, but seem expansive, so Googlefoo might be your friend? BD, Sort of resolved a similar quest a couple of years back, wanted a watch that I could were to the range etc (which is as close to the 'field' as I'm going to get!) but needed a stop watch function when running competitions but also would take some knocks and was not expensive. Ended up with this Seiko air diver X, solar powered so just leave it on the window ledge when not in use, bit bulky but does not matter My every day while DIY'ing is a Pulsar G10 donated by a friend π other watches for high days and holidays. Fantastic news from FCSA
terryh replied to ruger7717's topic in Target Shooting & Informal Long Range Shooting Practice
Saw that earlier, it is good news as I joined the FCSA when I moved close to Warminster with the sole idea of shooting with them on the Javelin range - just in time for it to become off limits! Better get the new barrel for the 300NM underway then! T -
Tony, Another good backer is the βplasticβ sheet that estate agents use for their for sale signs, itβs like corrugated cardboard but plastic. Or, if you can leave your target holder in place, builders use an orange netting as perimeter debris control, stretch about a metre of this between two posts and you can then clothes peg targets to it. Trigger - warning , think cocaine might be cheaper? π

Kaboom, The economy of it all obviously features but refining ammunition that works in your rifles must be βup thereβ in the reasons. Caveat: some factory ammunition currently available is very good, like silly good π e.g. recent play with Hornady in a stock Tikka Tac gave sub 1β group at 285 yards and a measured ES of 5 3 shot group. Accuracy was consistent throughout the morning. In some cases (no pun) it is a matter of necessity e.g. BPCR, 6mm Dasher. But I also, call me strange, quite enjoy reloading/casting - but I do it in stages and batches to avoid the brain fry you describe - also Iβm lucky in that my middle son now shoots so I can delegate some of the less critical/easy to setup tasks to him. The end product is the prize π T
