  1. Nigel Concur on this cartridge, I’m on my 4th barrel, the rifle was originally built by Terry Cross for me in 2007. My original combination was 37.5g RL15 and 123g Scanars thru’ the 1st 3 barrels, simple load and shoot. Just been trying the 130g Berger hybrids which were going well over N140 but the new batch of N140 was doing funny things - hence asking the QL analysis. Think i’m Running a bit too hot, on more accurately this new batch of powder . Thanks T

  3. C-22, cheers for input. I did try (briefly) RS60 & 62, did not get a good feeling, but it’s was in passing tests. I’ll give the 140 a go and see what the velocities are, not too worried about top speeds as most of my shooting is only out to 600 yards. If I clear 2700 comfortably I’ll be happy T
  4. Chanonry, I’m not sure that picking out one part of the whole equation is appropriate (or even accurate?). You have Landmark in there somewhere (which has part of their contract to maximise the use of ranges, which seems to be ignored). Big organisations, regardless of their areas of operations. (Civilian or military), do not communicate, so a TA unit cancelling use of a range or pre-booking ahead of time and Landmark not knowing its vacancy is to be expected. My observation was general in nature, and not pointed at (or soliciting) any witch hunt. T
  5. The Marlin SBL is up to the job - but are you 😁? No sure if you’ve ever fired full loads thru’ a light lever gun, you might not notice it in the heat of the hunt but the recoil will be quite ‘noticeable ‘ I have shot quite a bit of 45-70 but normally at lower levels (500g bullet @1200 is FPS) in a heavier single shot rifles - with a shoulder pad, and they are OK. so full loads on Boar then load down for range use and you’ll have a nice rifle, put a rear peep or ghost ring on the rifle for hunting and it will be very pointable, stick a tang sight on for range work and get nice sight picture. Please fo the love of God don’t put a scope on it !! Brgds Terry
  6. Adrian, Thank you for info. “MoD staff are prohibited from getting involved in the planning of civilian shoots and the placement of targets. As a result access to FFAs was withdrawn two years ago.” I find this a odd and actually a bit sad, that the MoD cannot work with civilians - ‘sad’ this is not exactly too stressful or a QHSE threat as it is, under normal circumstance, part of their daily routine i.e does not require a PTW or whatever the MoD call it? (No planning involved) ’Odd’ , (actually a bit annoying), as I support the army as in contacting my MP re things like Soldier X etc, but fundamentally I pay for the Army, cloths, food, toys, pensions the lot, so am I naive in expecting just a little bit back in return? (Silly me 😉 ), you know ‘biting the hand that feeds you’ etc? Terry
  7. Could someone run the numbers on 6.5x47 with N140 please? My measured fired case capacity is 3.12g vs the published 3.11g Buller is the Berger 130g AR OTM Hybrid seated 2.620 LOA Thanks in advance Terry
  8. C-22,, without going into too much depth, what was the reasoning re. No civilians (the owners ) being able to shoot on the FF ranges - just a spin off of the 50 cal thing? T
  9. NID, well that is minute of rabbit i suppose? You’d think that making a match bullet into a HP would be the way to go, small jig with a centre drill , whatever? I’ve a barrels tuner on an MPR which I’ve only rough tuned using the Purdy method, it won our clubs 50BR contest against ‘proper’ target and more BResq setups 3 x 5 shot groups came out just under 13mm average (measured widest outside). T
  10. NID You might also want to look up O ring barrel tuning, bloop tools etc. there is a plié of interesting info out there re. Sorting T
  11. Elwood, Not used or know of them but this bunch in Wales: https://www.aquagraphix.co.uk/about-us/ made a good job on my rifle, quick turn round T
  12. Lee, You can adapt the Kestrel vane, just in the process myself. T
  13. Lapua The London proof house goes down to AI and proofs them on site. brgds Terry
  14. Pbg Recurring question at our club also! All of those cartridges will work and if you miss it would not be down the the cartridge 😁 logical choice would be the creed, good selection of off the shelf rifles and availability of brass etc. I shoot a 6.5x47 as the Creed was not really available when I went the 6.5 route. Though in saying that, if I was starting again now I’d go for a 6-6.5x47, which does not really help you (apologies) Terry
  15. What twist is required? Who’d you get them from/thru? Cheers T
  16. Brock, Perhaps the 30 Nosler then, but think that’s is a std mag bolt face? None of these cartridges are going to be that ‘barrel friendly’ T
  17. Shendy Actual load is 89.5g RS80 (aka Reloader 33). Norma brass, Fed LR mag match primer. Seated to fit mag (can go measure if you like?) This is in my rifle, which has a 1:9 Krieger barrel, from memory 27” For ref. tried N170, accurate but a bit slow, N570 got the speed but not the consistency. third powder (that is going to be available i.e. not H1000 etc.) was the RS80/Re33 which appeared to be working for others namely in the US. T
  18. Have a 300NM, find it fun to shoot, not running it silly speeds, 2930 with the 230g Berger OTM’s. only gone to 1450 yards so far, it held elevation but lack of anything to read the (gusty) wind had left and right ‘variation’. Once more familiar/sorted would like to try the 2000 yards Have a second barrel on the way, would like/hope to pass 1000 rounds on a barrel 😳 Terry
  19. Reeonip Did not have enough take up unfortunately. I am familiar with RI, that’s who I’ve used in the past few years for all my export from the US, good guys and very straight fwd to deal with. Will handle your own kit as well as sort items from their own stock or suppliers. Brgds Terry
  20. John, The 1st round hit on the deer at 1140 yards was impressive - big smiles. The custom curve for AB seems to work very well as elevations at all distances were spot on - wind was, well a bit gusty! RS80 seems to be a good powder in the 300NM, I've a very solid load giving 2940 and low SD's so happy with that. elevations TBA as the ballistic app i was using was out (consistently out, but out none the less) - 1st time out with rifle and Apps so not too worried. Need to add the red dot to save time and stress at distance though! Good couple of days shooting at Tiff's place, good crowd as well 😎
  21. thank you markR and Mark ‘Bradder’ - all is now clear! 😎 T
  22. Cheers for input Dave question: how do you time up the ASE muzzle brake / adapter? Skim the back face or crush washer? Terry
  23. Dave, Do you know if B&T do the brake / suppressor adapter (as in the AI design) in other threads than the AI metric i.e. 5/8-24 UNEF? I like the B&T as they are LH threads but as you say a good few beer tokens! T
