Has the phoenix burned
Has anybody been shooting at the old eskdalemuir site since it was closed down ? it just seems a shame if nobody’s using the facilities obviously there’s COVID at the minute ! Kipper
If I remember correctly from an old thread the issue is that range no longer has a RDA in place so can't function.
Popsbengo
FCSA have the rights (whatever they may be) and are 'developing' the site. I'm sure covid has not helped progress. There's still some open issues according to the original range developers and operators - Gardners Guns. FCSA have posted no information on their website for months - apparently there's a Farsebook group reporting progress.

Last update I saw was on NYE, looked like heavy snow then so imagine its been a bit of a struggle!
Has the phoenix burned
There’s a photo on Fcsa fb page which shows the old caravan has gone and been replaced with a shipping container but there’s a red flag flying at full mast 🤔
John MH
Only ever shot there once, looked like a great site.

It was pretty good when Gardners ran it so it could be again. The new range in Eskdalemuir village is even better. It's just a very long day for me to drive there shoot and drive home - on the road at 3:45 latest to get to the range for 07:30 ~ 08:00. There's always the possibility of an overnight stay, wallet allowing. What makes it good though is the ambiance; Gardners run a friendly and cheerful range. Concur, only made it up there once so far, overnight is the only option, but nice facility friendly atmosphere and was a very mixed bag of folks. Covered points for some of it and good potential - 'really' good potential for run and gun with 22rf's Should the World ever bloody open again will make the effort to go back
martin_b
Ive joined Gardners this year for the first time, and by my reckoning to get there by 7:30AM I'll need to leave at Midnight! So a list of good Local B&B's would be wellcome. PS: If you think thats stupid, I also fish the Rivers Ness and Nairn in the Autumn for Salmon, so the Borders are almost local. Has the phoenix burned
We stopped at the Eskdale in Langholm, nice people and lovely breakfast
ruger7717
It’s been totally refurbished inside and out, new larger covered firing point built, dozens of new steels in place. FCSA UK will be open for bookings as soon as we get the nod from planning.
Richiew
Try the premier inn at Dumfries. We used to do an early start from home then shoot all day then over to the premier inn for overnight stay etc . nice view of the valley to 1400 y . FB66
Bizzare I had just read about SD about both ranges, petitions and planning permission etc https://eaccess.dumgal.gov.uk/online-applications/advancedSearchResults.do?action=firstPage https://eaccess.dumgal.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?previousCaseType=Application&keyVal=QE4WO0GBL2W00&previousCaseNumber=20%2F2013%2FFUL&activeTab=summary&previousKeyVal=QKAE11GBHIH00 https://www.change.org/p/elaine-murray-leader-of-dumfries-and-galloway-council-stop-high-velocity-shooting-ranges-becoming-established-in-eskdalemuir Have to say cant wait to go up there and shoot.
