  1. Has any body tried this powder at all, ran some in my 300 wm same thing pressure spikes bad es before usable velocity. Noticed a big difference in the kernel sizes too and the fact they wernt evenly dispenced from the chargemaster, bigger ones 5mm + sticking a bit in tube then a few would drop together, so you had 2 consec drops 1 with lot more of the v small kernels 1 with the bigger ones, would this effect the burning speed, creating the speed jump and pressure spike - its bound to have an effect on case fill levels too.
  2. Anybody tried this in their 284 with 180 g bullets, i found it closer to 4350 than 4831 which its supposed to duplicate, got pressure signs early too.
  3. I hear theres going to be opposition from the retreat centre up there, as there will be 3 ranges within earshot.

    RS50

Difficult to give you an exact weight without knowing, your brass make & oal, but weve found a full case, just before the bullet compresses the powder charge produced the best es and accuracy with 69 - 80 g bullets. Never saw any pressure signs in various actions.
  5. Thanks for the replies, will pass them on, shifted mine
  6. Couple of us got joypods this year, primarily for f class , weve found you continually have to ajust the leg height, then as a result the cant, av every 5 or6 shots even when shooting of a well positioned mat, a very labour intensive job, there dosnt seem to be enough internal ajustment, the flat bottomed stocks dont help eithor. Weve gone back to the teir 1 s. Joypods work ok of the bench but then rests are better. Has anyone else found this.
  7. The 44 s and most pistol calibres would do without the gas checks unless really pushing them hard, ive stopped using them altogether because theve gotten expensive, i just cast them a little harder, dont run them as fast, you could nearly buy a fmj for the price of a checked cast. I lube with allox and canuba car wax mixed 50/50, tumbled. Henry crank used to carry a large range of gas checks.
  8. Anybody have or used one of these or if there available retail yet.
  9. Switched to RS 50 in mine
  10. We have several of these actions, and john carr was our first call , unfortunatly john no longer works with stainless steel, though we have various moa of his aluminium rails, it was stainless we were after.
  11. Just back from 2 great days at mark gardners 2 mile range, running out of elevation at 1800 yrds is there any one in the uk could make me a 40 moa rail for a john carr action, its the same as a short action borden i think
  12. Did you check out the prices for the new redding comp dies phew we paid £400 including 2 bushings, then got a mint full length bushing die £50. I think the match bushing sets run about £250 without any bushings
