22 LR Average Group from your gun
No i deer replied to Ronin's topic in Varmint Rifles & Heavy Plinkers
No photo of the RWS Club ammo as it was dreadful and worse than the 42gr winnie subs.. The Norma subs were good for line but verticle dispersion was not too good.. better than the 42gr winnie subs though. -

I've been out and tested some target ammo today.. Shot from 50yds prone. CZ452 with a 9 mag leupold rimfire scope. It's a little blowy today and bloody freezing.. I took some Norma subs which I've never tried before.. Used Harris bipod and rear bag. Used some Eley match and eley club. RWS club, match and special match.. Zeroed my new leupold rimfire scope with the 42gr winnie subs.. After some inconsistent results I tried a different approach as I suspected my eyes were at fault because I'm overdue a eye test and some glasses are needed as target was blurring ð. Old timers setting in ðą Anyway I thought I'd try aiming at white discs on a black back ground and I could focus and hold crosshair better. Left to right Eley match. Eley club RWS special match RWS match. I shot 2 groups of 5 shots with each. Top and bottom are the same ammo -
Amax's are great bullets and probaly more explosive than the nosler.. I used mainly 85gr nosler ballistic tips in the 25-06 I had and couldn't fault them. I did try the 120gr nosler ballistic tips in a 6.5-06 but I didn't get to shoot how I wanted so I gave up. It was probaly down to myself not using the right powder, primer combo etc. The 140gr amaxs shoot very well as they do in my 6.5x47 which bugholes and shoots amazingly well. One of my all time best loads

Cohesion and a better strategy is needed rather than bitching amongst themselves. As already said a proper committee is needed and collective decisions made rather than individuals wanting to call the shots.. There has to be alot of groundwork done to have a chance of getting this to work..!! Good luck NID -

Ive shot at the javelin shoot and on F range at Sennybridge and the arcs of fire are very narrow but that was probaly down to being able to use 338's and 50 cal type calibres.. Military venues i imagine will be by far the best options for this type of shooting as these would have all the range templates already in place but would need modifying for this type of shooting and alot of planning and persuading to get the go head.. It could take years..!! -

Getting places to hold these events will likely to be the main stumbling block in getting up and running.. There seems to be alot of intrest in this type of shooting so it would be good to see it take off.. I'd have ago myself if I didn't have to travel too far to participate.. -

Then likely too have to be a military playground like Salisbury plain. A shooting mate ran the shoot for the FCSA on the javelin range on the plain at Salisbury and just taking responsibility for the range and handing it back was a major palava. He put alot of time and effort into making it happen as did the other people involved in helping run the FCSA.. -

There can't be many private venues available that has approved range templates for this type of shooting. -

They seem to be carrying on over there as usual ðĪ -

If you go on the forum just scroll down to 7mm 30 cal and big stuff or words to that effect you'll see it.. I think it was a 300 Norma improved but the reference was on the bullets more than the calibre.. It's a very accurate cartridge

I think the 230gr Atips are working very well.. They like them on accurate shooter. There's a thread on the 300 Norma now

I tried the torqueleader torque driver on 40 inch lbs to see if it would tighten the screws which it did a just little..!! I then undone them and had the stock off. Wiped it around with a silicone cloth and torqued them up to 35 inch lbs which seemed quite tight.. applying 40 inch lbs and the flat headed screw head would easily chew off the edge of the slot if I slipped. 35 inch lbs felt more than enough.. -

I think its the mk1 CZ452. Probaly over 20 years I've owned it. Had it from new.. One of the action screws is on the barrel a few inches out from the chamber.. Not sure how this affects the barrel but the old eleys subs would shoot touching bullets or better. I've no I deer what torque setting the screws are done up.. Knowing me very tight lol I do have a torqueleader wrench now so I could check it.. Any I deer what CZ recommend for their torque setting on the action screws..? -

I'd be happy to spend more money on ammo for better accuracy.. How do the likes of tenex perform on vermin..? I think I've tried most 22 hunting subs and there a pile of poo. What increments do you batch the rims in..? I am prepared to try this method out of curiosity. -

I tried the sharpshooter x ring barrel deresonator today for a play.. I only had 42gr winnie subs as they were the best out of a bad bunch of hunting hollow points.. 50yds test and 4 shot groups, rear bag and a Harris bipod. I started of the rubber tuner touching the mod and moved the tuner back 5mm for each group.. The group's did open up but never shot any spectacular groups either.. The group's that shot the best wernt repeatable.. I took tuner off and shot the last few groups not shown and on average they shot the best.. I ran out of target stickers so that's as far as I could take it.. I definately need to try some target ammo to see how well it can shoot. The old eley extra hollow subs did shoot way better than the 42gr winnie subs -
I'm glad for you and it's good to treat yourself in miserable times like now..!! I'm going to be doing some retail therapy myself in the coming weeks to cheer myself up ðĪĐ.
