  1. Go to any Steyr Scout user forum and see what guys are shooting or recommending. I have a Leuould IER 2X on my 6.5 Scout. Shot placement on mule deer is easy out to 200 yards. ~Andrew
  2. Why do you need to load handgun cartridges quickly? I shot 200M handgun comps and never used a progressive press of any kind: not even a turret press. I loaded 200 rounds each of 357 and 44Magnum weekly for practice. I have a Dillon right now but only set up for 9mm to keep my girlfriend's 9mms fed. I still load 44, 32 S&W Long, 38 and 357 on my old RCBS press.~Andrew
  3. A 22-204? That's getting silly. Kinda like a 30-7mm08.~Andrew
  4. There is plenty on the internet about this cartridge. My only concern would be getting 6.5 Grendel brass to neck down. Hard to come by even here in the States. Feeding is a whole nuther issue. It would depenmd on the gun. A single stack mag like a CZ would be fine. ~ Andrew
  5. Good shooting! 256M is a 'fer piece' indeed! ~Andrew
  6. I have a pair of CZ bolt guns I shoot regularly. One a 2020 American Varmint and the other a 2019 vintage standard American. Love them? You bet. I hunt deer with the standard American using Sierra 120 grain Pro Hunters over LOVEX D073.6. Highest velocities and enviable accuracy. I'm getting 2685 fps with a grain and a half left to go in the load data. For Target I shoot the Nosler 123 grain Custom Comps. They are as accurate as I can hold and I have used them off hand on steel plates at 700 yards with good consistency. (Didn't hit them all the time but I called the misses) I have shot 1/2 MOA from my back pack at 200 with these bullets. Same powder, by the way. Half a grain less. For varmint i shoot Sierra 85 grain HP over H335. Haven't chronoed them but they are in the 2900 range I'm sure. Accuracy is superb. I am glad to hear someone else likes the Grendel. I am in the US but I have opined that if I had to live in the UK I would shoot a Grendel. As a friend of my once said, it "...hits above its weight class" True enough. ~Andrew
  7. Too bad you guys can't get Aguila Interceptor. I ran some field tests years back when it first came out. A 40 grain RN was clocking 1500 fps from a 20 inch barrel. (average of 20 rounds at 10 ft.) Pretty accurate too.~ Andrew
  8. Yes on both counts. I love the TX1 in the KRG. Shot it out past 400 yards last spring on open prairie, shooting at prairiedog-sized steel targets. ~Andrew
  9. I shouldn't need to suggest this, but Hodgdon would be the best source. There is only a few grain powder range between min and max in most instances. Start at the bottom and work up. ~Andrew
  10. P-14. There are some poor 1917's out there but P-14's tend to be very good.~Andrew
  11. Load it hot and hard. Make sure your bore is free of copper fouling. Good luck. ~Andrew
  12. I didn't even check to see if they were still made. Lee has been slowly trimming their lineup. I ran a test of bench loaded 223 and that made with the Lee. Total time to complete 40 cartridges was about the same. With practice I was producing a loaded round in the trimmed case every 90 seconds. The average group size from a Hart-barreled Howa was within a few thou of identical. I have a few of the more odd-ball ones like 25-20 WCF that I still use. 30-40 is one of my favorites. I am told that when Lee first shipped the 30-40 units they came with a flaring tool to facilitate loading cast bullets. My old set had one in it. I always wondered if that was true. ~Andrew
  13. I have a 303 Lee and have used it a lot. Safe and easy. Good results especially as it only neck sizes and that is perfect for my old Enfields. I think that 303 has been discontinued tho, along with many, many others. Lee made over 70 models at one time. I try to keep one for every chambering I load for. ~Andrew
  14. I wasn't 100% certain but I checked. That CZ is a 1:7 as well. You can't go too far wrong with that twist. ~Andrew
  15. I have a few 300 AAC. (Ruger, CZ 527, AR 10" and a 20 " AR) I think they are all 1-7" and all shoot well. ~Andrew
  16. I don't know about 17 Hornet, but my two 22 Hornets feed well, as does my 204, 223, my two 6.5 Grendels , the 300 AAC and three 7.62sx39s. I have had a couple of bad magazines through the years but otherwise all was fine. If handloading, make sure you load them to fit the magazine with some clearance at the nose. Be forewarned that CZ has dropped the 527 so find a rifle and pick up a few extra magazines. I recently took delivery of seven for the Grendel/ 7.62x39 when I spied them, in stock. I think CZ will continue making mags for a while but it won't last. ~Andrew
  17. Like I said, my first runs with it were crap but I realized that I didn't follow the instructions completely. ~Andrew
  18. I have one but I don't use it much. Only for large batches of 308 and 223. It takes some practice but my cases some out dead on. For a while I was getting crap results but I didn't follow the instructions exactly. Once I did it right, all fell into line. Now I SBFL size a LOT of military 308 and have them trimmed up quickly. That said, I use it for cleaning primer pockets all the time. It's noisy but it's got a serious gear box inside. A lot of power. ~Andrew
  19. Eight grains of Unique has worked in all my 44 Magnums over the years. ~Andrew
  20. I also shoot the 70 grain in 223, the 130 in 6.5, and the 210 grain in 300WM, FWIW. ~Andrew
  21. I have heard the "Random Damned Fliers" thing for a while but I shoot quite a few RDF. I buy them by the thousand lot. From my 1-10" RPR I get no random fliers. Admittedly, I uise them on MOA plates out to 1100 yards. No misses I can't attribute to heavy winds over varying terrain, or (gulp) me. ~Andrew
