So a couple of hours ago I went to confirm group at distance

Set up a target at 942mtrs (random but thats what it was) and estimated wind (my Kestrel 4500 is dead) at 10 mph gusting slightly higher

Set the target with a flat horizontal line (as per THLR recent videos)

I dialed in date into AB program with estimated wind set up on atlad bipd and Ulfhednar rear bag

First shot I was able to spot fall was slightly right, so added .3 MIL more wind on the scope, sending another four rounds down range.

The results are I think pretty good.

~You can see four shots on target in a nice group

This shows Ab program and data pretty accurate to less than .2 MIL trajectory (id call that good)

Load ES is very stable too

Group of four  (at 942 MTRS) replicates data at 100 shot yesterday = (sub half MOA gun and load)

These babies work just fine

Thanks guys

Ran the four shot group through Ballistic X this morning - .37 MOA - 1030 Yds - not too shabby

The finished rifle, in Precision Rifle Comp mode (I have shorter barrel set up for deer, thats works equally well)

Relatively mild charge of  RS 60 bobbing along circa 2900 FPS Es v low

Very efficient case when improved

Is there a reason you chose to run that powder over the likes of RS62 or even N160 / n165?

I get very similar speed to you using N160 with 147eld

Accuracy / VO was not as good with 160:165 when I tested earlier in the year

I don’t have any 62 to try

I’m aware that 60 may prove to be a barrel killer but the barrel is likely to have a hard life anyway it’s semantics - if (when CV19 restrictions allow) we return to competitive shooting it will be fine for 12 months competition and replace . (If it’s as hard as that )

Are you using improved case too ?

That’s interesting to hear, it will be good to find out how the barrel copes with the rs60 especially in competition use etc.

no it’s a 6.5CM in SRP brass 44.7gr

Ah, I see, that’s a stiff load for CM to attain similar VO as the Improved 260 - I’m using less powder than that - quite a bit less

The improved case seems to be quite efficient

It was worked up to 46 grain before experiencing pressure that was just shy of 3000fps I run 28” barrel. That’s been the key to my high velocity I would think.

it

certainly sounds it Andy, how long a barrel are you running?

It’s 26 Bartlein 7 twist

My reason for using lower powder charge is to enable use in all Uk conditions - didnt want it too warm in our sunny climate 😂

Dave, yes it is unique here in the UK, but commonly used in this guise in Skandinavia (maybe not in 260 )

Ive really just followed a rested route that’s been followed over there that works

Been fun making it though 😃

Not unique in the UK ... ... ... we must have taken delivery around the same time.

I too am delighted with the Vision chassis, I currently have just the factory .308 barrel, but ordered a second in 6mm Creedmoor today.

Superb - two of us seen the way forward then 😀

Truly a very versatile chassis and rifle action if you can think outside the box

Yet to be tested in Comp conditions here (though entered a Comp in July ) but they seem to do quite well in Scandinavia

Glad you managed to get yours too without much trouble, I found the process trouble free and an easy company to deal with.
