  1. Guys. Im getting a 300PRC for the primary reason of hitting steel at 1 mile. For that I think I'll use 230g Bergers. Now sometime next year I might need to get my 6.5CM rebarreled so for a few weeks I'll use the 300PRC for plinking at Bisley. If you were an old man like I would you develop an "out to 1000y" load with something like 200g berger to save your shoulder or should I save money and man up!

    .300PRC

A rather steep £950, which buys you the Stainless and Cerakote barrel, the Premier action and a TriggerTech trigger, plus a few other minor upgrades. I think its also assembled in the States which may explain some of the uplift. Expensive I know but alternative options are few.

My variation has come through 🙂. Ive put a tentative order in for a Bergara HMR Pro, (your rust story scared me!)
  4. Ive been a member of the OSMSC for a few years now, A few other points that are worth knowing, Dan ( the Chairman) often runs "Dans Days" in the week normally 100 Bench sessions on a Friday, theres a monthly? mid week evening session at Cheylesmore (Gallery rifle) thats just started back up, and the club has close links with a club in NI and try to visit yearly for a Pistol shooting weekend. They also run several courses First aid, reloading, etc.. and if its your thing a Target Shotgun course and run Target shotgun sessions.

    .300PRC

Apologies if this has been covered elswhere but the forum seach function seems a bit sick. I've put in a variation for a 300prc for shooting out to one mile plus. it will probally have a minimum of a 26inch barrel. Im thinking of using berger hybrids but im unsure as the weight and powder combo. (I've a prefernece for either Viht or RS as they both seem available at Bisley) any advice or sugestions? (Oh and the reson Im asking now is I need to put in a large order for some other bits and Im trying to save on carraige!)
  7. Well covid has slowed the process down a little but ive now rationalized my rifle collection, and I've got a HME course/talk booked with an NRA instructor on the 11 september. Once thats out of the way I'll put in for a variation. Im still undecided about calibre, 300 winmag, 300PRC, etc.. but one question I'd like to ask is do you think it will be OK mounting a magnum action in a bedded laminate stock? Ive got a GRS hybrid for my 6.5cm and I get on well with that, plus as an old bloke from a game shooting background I much prefer the look of "wood" over "tactical" rifles.
  8. I’ve had a cursory look at the barrel with an endoscope, but Ill get someone who knows what they are doing to take a look.
  9. No offense taken. e Yesterday at 300Y on the electronics at Bisley in a set of 10 shots I'd get 8 or 9 within the 5 ring but one or two out in 3's or further, ( and scattered not just vertical stringing). The reason I dont think its me was I was using a Dolphin trakker bipod and a rear bag so a pretty stable base. When I pull shots with my other rifles generally I know Ive done it and they dont go that far off point of aim. Other people have experienced the same issue.
  10. Guys, what causes fliers you're sure arn't all your fault. Options as I see it are.. Warn barrel, ( .223 and its nearly fifity years old) Less than premium reloading compnents.. Im happy the powder weigth is consistant but cant vouch for the rest of the components Act of god.
  11. Computer/ server UPS? (will be expensive.) When I kept marine fish I allways had a petrol generator around in case of emergency but it was so useful I kept it once the fish had gone.
  12. Gents I’ve currently got an Atlas BT10 on my 6.5cm but I’m finding not been able to lock the pan and tilt a bit irritating. The Pan I can live with but even with the knob locked down as tight as I can, closing and opening the bolt tilts the rifle. If I am to get something different I’d also like something with a bit wider footprint. Any suggestions. < £300 My other question is the Atlas attaches to the front of my GRS stock with a spigot. Is this a custom fitting unique to GRS and any ideas on if its possible to move it to another bipod?
  13. Or this one? An auction bargain at $7.8million
  14. I dont need a lift as Im a local but im there most weekends. I shoot Clays and Rifles (both this Saturday), Happy to give you a tour. It looks a bit imposing but its not, just a load of like minded guys. If youre there on your own and feel a bit lost just go to Fat Tony's buy a tea/coffee and ask someone, thats what i did!
  15. I use an Aimsports Triton 50 on my 6.5 absolutely no complaints. I'm 100% targets so not worried about the weight, but it doesnt seem that heavy to me.
  16. Guys.. Not sure if you've seen this or this follow up.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1449kJKxlMQ but maybe Im right to dislike muzzle breaks In all seriousness just glad the guy is OK and lets all be carefull out there!
  17. I hate muzzel brakes! However if you have to use them please show a bit of courtesy to your Neighbours and let them know when you're going using them please. Im in lane X this AM at Bisley in X+1 X+2 and X+3 is a club with between 1 and 3 of them using brakes, The rule about one free lane between shooter seems to be ignored now, the blast is bad enough but its the noise I really object to, so please have the decency to warn your fellow shooters. <Rant over>
  18. Now funny you should say that.. I didnt, but I did put the scope elevation values back into Srelok and got it to calculate the speeds S&B 2653 f/s Home made 2634f/s. So mine are slower but needed 9.5mils of evevation where as the S&B needed 11mils (plus or minus a bit!) The big difference is I'm using Nosler RDF which have a much better G7 drag coefficient. Not a very scientific experiment but interesting.. PS: Quickload gives a predicted velocity of 2725, Gordons, 2660. ( thats with a lot of default values but I plan to refine the data of the long weekend)
  19. Interesting comparison i think. The group on the right 5 concecutive handloaded 140g 6.5CM the string on the left 5 S&B factory 140g ammo Shot at 1000yards with about a 8mph breeze. Just put in scope values in from Strelok and used the same aim point for every shot.
  20. Surprisingly quiet at Bisley this morning but perfect conditions for a quick hours shooting. Just to remind myself what end to hold 🙂
  21. Just saw this in SD.. https://www.guns.com/news/2012/06/27/149mm-sop-elr-cartridge-prototype-rifle I wonder if Bisley will allow it?
