Did a similar job recently on a 6.5 Creedmoor that a chap had built bt someone - original custom Brux barrel was re profiled and rechambered to 6.5/284 with some rectification work done to various bits omitted by the previous “skilled worker “ Rifle now shoots small groups and accounts for many “harder to reach” deer that barrel came off without any issue but factory barrels are quite another thing

Easy job though I’d suggest moving the whole chamber .050” forwards to ensure the throat is freshened up The main issue you have is it’s on a T3 which can be notoriously difficult barrels to remove without undercutting the shoulder to relieve tension on the thread I’ve a 20 ton press and specific contour shells to hold barrels and still find tikka barrels hard to remove unscathed, which is why you have the reluctance of the people you’ve approached I suspect I guess it could be done with a custom made thin parting tool (fifteen mins to make on the DBit grinder) - so the undercut is as minimal as possible but you would likely lose .070” of the barrel shoulder in doing so No great issue there - though another factor for consideration is the time spent on the job would surmount to basically the work involved for a Rebarrel (therefore potentially 3-400 plus proof Afraid I don’t have the 22-250 improved reamer so can’t help 👍🏻

Echo what others have posted - who are very experienced “effers” The standard when I dropped out of the league was a 1/4 Moa vertical dispersion at 1000 to be “competitive” The 6.5 class of cartridges are simply outclassed ballistically in F Open and not contenders in FTR 7 mm was the datum to be in it (180 hybrids being one of the more common bullets used and Senar L I guess tge 47 would be good as an “out to 600” rifle but I think you would be best served with a dedicated rifle to fully enjoy the sport without the frustration of being hamstrung from the offset

It’s similar but not the same Tang difffernt and action hole spacing (from memory) last one I rebarrelled was 2018

Had one of the first Vision chassis in the UK which I imported myself for an ssg3000 it was really good The ATX factory chassis is better in my limited opinion The balance of the ssg was too rearward but the ssg action is a beast with a lot of metalwork under the main action body which contributed to the balance point I am not serious prs type shooter so my view is only my view The vision is a great chassis, well thought out and extremely well made

Nothing it’s still running as is the rest of the forum The site isn’t just about sale posts, this is a tiny facet to it

Just order one from McMillan direct or the F Class stock from Manners The latter I had two of when I was seriously competing in F Open and they were really very good stocks The waiting time for MCMillan will likely be 6-9 months Use something else in the mean time

You could look at importing your own action from the States, but it’s likely that it would take almost as long to get the paperwork and importation process complete as it would for any RFD to source one for you There are many alternatives to BAT actions that are as well put together Unless you “have” to have Bat because you have planned a chassis or stock around this Barnard P (Lapua bolt face) , Borden BRXMD is offered in Lapua Bolt Face Both would be serious contenders against a BAT The Barnard coming with a world class trigger makes them a very attractive consideration

Yesterday was the last of the MOA Comps this yearThey have proved to grow in popularity and yesterdays was very well attended with 30 attending to test their skill on the steel as far as they were able In essence the comp structure is thisCold bore shot at 300 mtr, then Three shots at that distance. Should there be no hits, that is where you end the comp.One or more hit, you move to the next distance until you miss all three shots The furthest target distance was 1572 yards (1437 mtr)There was eleven stages (11 distances ) roughly in 100 mtr increments out to 900 then 972, 1050, 1237 and 1437 mtr)The classes were 22 RF (100, 150, 200, 250, 350 mtr )223Short action Long action So the competitors were split into five details (with the RF comp running separately) and we then shot in detail the compEarly on the weather was cloudy wet and little wind, this changed to clear without rain and a yellow glow appeared in the sky previously unheard of in the area - it actually became warm and dry Wind remained very mild though I still needed 1.0 MIL of windage despite zero wind reading at the firing point The details shot well and flowed through the day taking about an hour per target series There was on display some seriously well put together rifles and some stellar shooting under almost perfect conditions In particular Mike who was shooting a T3 in 260 REM who won the short action class and attaining 616 points The Long action class was won by Greg who managed to go the entire distance and hit the furthest target twice (first round hit and third round hit) using his 30-338 (728 points) The 223 class won by Graham with 212 points Rimfire- sorry I don’t have that info to hand What was apparent (apart from the seriously high standard of shooting) was how enjoyable the competition was and how many people were obviously enjoying themselves The Gardners Team in particular Rich and Gareth have worked really hard to make this a uniquely challenging event and they have excelled doing so Well Done Some images from the day If you are interested in participating in the same competition series in 2024 there will be four comps running Affordable accommodation is available nearby and camping available at Longtown whixh is a forty min drive from the area used, practice is usually available the day before too as part of the entry fee (this may be subject to change in the planning for the next events ) The MOA challenge is a true test of skills for the precision rifle man (or woman) and is thoroughly enjoyable event No egos, no frilly shirts, group hugs or folk demanding likes on social media Get yourselves there for a truly friendly and open to everyone event 👍🏻

Can only be a good thing for the steel plate shooting community Makes perfect sense to run competitions in house - adds another provider to choose from

How far do these things work to and is there a maximum dimension for target frame (obviously you don’t want to be in a position that you spiral staircase a sensor )

The coating rarely removes the marking through preparation it can make it harder to read but it’s still there If the markings are “light” to begin with, simply ask the person doing the coating to mask off the area and leave uncoated
