  1. Dont forget the sour grapes 😁
  2. I had 2000 shots with my current 6.5x47 and it's been great and have another barrel ready too be fitted to follow on for when my current one dies.. it's shot great out to 1000yds but I use it mainly out to 600yds and has plenty of legs to do that. I prefer a 7mm bullet for long range 😁
  3. Thanks Varm. I read an article not long ago and si snipe was using 147gr ELDM's in his 6.5x47 and I think he was running about 2770fps on or very near 41grs of RS62.. Nearly 200fps down on somebody on this thread was getting 2960fps I think on 46grs of N160 in their creedmoor 😳. 200fps is a huge difference.. This may see a pressure spike on a warm day 😅
  4. Will the carbon wrapped barrels make it more work for a gunsmith to work on.? A different approach..? Atb NID
  5. I thought the N160 I have in stock for my 284 for launching the 180gr ELDM's would of fed my 6.5x47 aswell being on my last 1kg of RS62 which is lasting too long at the mo 🙄. I do have a few 142gr smks I could use to find the oal for Mark to run the figures with.. The RS62 quickload predictions are very close to what I got. 41.5grs didn't shoot or feel right when I tested it.. 41grs was much better. When my new barrel is fitted it will be 3 inches shorter which was another reason I hoped the N160 would have a higher performance..

    Case prep

The best way has to be with a primer pocket uniformer and it also keeps the primer seated at the proper depth as they get shallower every firing.. They may take out brass up to 10 firings until they've finished stretching and mainly take of the carbon. Being seated to the right depth may also stop any piercing of the primers and any high primers that's proud of the case base
  7. At 41.5grs of RS62 in my 47 the 139gr scenar doesn't seat to the desired comparator measure as it's compressing.. sometimes 2 pumps and a a slight adjustment on the micrometre to get them within a thousanth as it's pretty compressed... Seat a bullet without any powder and it seats really easily..
  8. 42grs tapping the case a few times settled at bottom of the neck and would be slightly compressed with a 140gr amax. A 139gr scenar would be way more compressed. I thought I'd get more powder in than that 🤔.
  9. It's not something I thought about before but the laser measures in a strait line and the bullet has trajectory which is longer than the strait measure of the laser.. I'm not sure if this is calculated into the equation on your ballistic app or not 🤔
  10. T I thought they were held via magnets.. Can we have a view through sight picture of the Charlie tarac..??
  11. I will be trying N160 in my 6.5x47 when we can get back out..
  12. I will try later to see how many grains of N160 the 47 case will hold up to the neck junction.. 41.5grs of RS62 is up about that far and is a compressed load. Have you tried RS62 and what was your max load..?
  13. Dave hasn't let this info out yet.. After reading this again I looked on the viht reloading again tonite to see what the load Is for the 6.5x47 and they don't show one.. N160 is only slightly slower burning than H4350.. We are missing a trick here with them blistering velocities. I think the difference between the 47 and the creed is about 1mm
  14. Seems like John is well ahead of the game..!!
  15. There's several 338 lap mag variants that may float your boat but I'd imagine it gets complicated and more expensive for little gain.. I will look into it. I was instantly hooked after my first few shots on a 338 lap mag at 1800yds 😁. I didn't get around to getting one in the end as I changed direction.
  16. Them rifles are ugly full stop so a ugly bipod suits them 😁
  17. As always it's easier said than done.. 1 mile is a nice range and still a serious challenge.. I've had a go and loved it using a Barrett 98B which has a twist rate of 9.7 ish.. it shot the 300gr scenars great I watched one of UKV's former users Mike Roberts on the KO2M series with I think his 50 cal and he didn't hit the 1550yd target with 5 shots..!! I've watched him shooting his 50 at F range at sennybride ok.. The wind is hard at Raton and shooting uphill maybe another obstacle.. I'm not familiar with the problems of that though.. 2 miles is literally a long shot and luck is the biggest factor...
