  1. I have a load of 6.5gr of Unique with a 240gr RNFP that shoots well but Unique is a bear of a powder to handle. Sticks to everything, doesn't go through a thrower consistently... think I'm going to try Universal next...
  2. That's good to know, you find they stabilise OK? I'm thinking of using the 60gr TMK over X-Terminator. Scrummy
  3. Yeah it's a bit sobering. There are apparently warnings about Federal Primers being used in some priming machines so I wonder if I might replace my next batch of LP primers with something else. Scrummy
  4. I've had good luck with it. Shot out to 1,000yds with Eleveation holding to ~0.5MOA with it and no batching just FL sizing and loading. (7x64) Happily still using it though I thinking it's on about it's 7th loading and primer pockets are getting a bit loose Scrummy
  5. Hi folks, Had a small scare the other day whilst reloading that might be a helpful reminder to people to keep safe and follow your procedures not being sloppy. Primer popped when being seated and flashed over into try causing other primers to detonate. This happened using a Hornady Hand Primer My set-up post incident Close-up of hand primer – not sure where rest of pieces are. Close-up of “flashed” primers (Note empty but dented cups) And this is the resulting cuts to hand – fortunately they seem superficial. Blast also blew my glasses off my face and they landed ~6 feet away. Fortunately I was wearing latex gloves so some protection. Be careful folks and wear your eye protection. (Just in case people are interested, didn’t notice anything different from usual. Cases were PPU factory on ~4th firing. Primers were Federal Large Pistol. Cases had been sonic cleaned and primer pockets checked prior to priming and I’d primed ~50 that session. This process has served me fine for ~3 years of loading) Best wishes, Scrummy
  6. Sorry folks, should have given a bit of context. Our freezers are in a garage which has a communal electricity supply for the block. Occasionally the circuit breaker for the Garage gets tripped and it doesn't get reset until the estate manager / porter does their rounds on a Monday morning. So even a few extra hours of power would get the freezers through a weekend and less risk of loss. So, thoughts welcome. Scrummy
  7. Hi folks, Question, has anyone got a solution for battery back up for Freezers? Best wishes, Scrummy
  8. I've not shot .22lr that far, only going to 300 and not with huge success at 300 but it is fun. (Done the Long Range Small Bore shoot at Bisley a couple of times is all, be "interesting" to try and put the rifle to work further out). Scrummy
  9. I have astigmatism but quite like red dots. Couple of things I found Generally, quality pays. Of the 3 reflex sights I have (Leica, Burris Fastire III and Geco) the Leica is the least "flary". Another thing to consider is brightness. Generally the brighter you have the dot, the more star effect. I also find if I shoot with my glasses on I don't have issues. Best wishes, Scrummy
  10. Hi folks, Looking for some advice on loading my .223 Rem. Bullets I want to use are: 55gr FMJ-BT (Usually buy bulk pack Hornady but inclined to buy whatever is on offer of that ilk) 55gr Nosler E-Tips (their non-lead hunting bullet) 60gr Sierra Tipped Match Kings (longer range fun) Any thoughts on whether Wild Boar or X-terminator would be better? I like ball powders for the .223 Rem as by far my highest roundcount is for running deer / positional shooting at the British Sporting Rifle Club and for that ball powders help with quick measuring and loading. (I used to use TAC and got great results with 65gr Sierra Gamekings but now shooting lighter bullets and I find I’m not getting the cleanest ignition.) Thanks in advance, Scrummy
  11. Lovely little Browning Pump Action .22 lr as well. Scrummy
  12. Nice one, Terry! It is fun. I did OK at the Bisley Shoot at 200 yds shooting match rifle style (Front hand under stock on a rest, nothing under the but) but my 300 was a joke!
  13. Thanks Kipper, when I have shot a bit closer to the last Hornady's off I shall give them a try. (Kind offer but I'm sure they will be fine and won't need you to guarantee his workmanship ) Scrummy
  14. Thanks KIpper. Will check them out. Not looking for super premium, just range fodder. Scrummy
  15. That's good to hear. I was perusing the Nosler website the other day and there seemed to be more available in their webstore. (Not much .224 or .308 cal though) Scrummy
  16. Yep. The 500x packs of Hornady have been good just unobtainium currently and not sure when will be available again. Scrummy
  17. Hello folks, I am getting through my 55gr Hornady FMJBT stock for my .223 thinking of going for a low cost non us brand of 55gr 224 FMJ. any recommendations? PPU? S&B? Something else? Thanks in advance. scrummy
  18. Not a bad idea. Certainly quick. I suggest if you want to hunt with it though a little magnification and low light performance is not a bad idea IMHO
  19. I actually quite like that
  20. I've found this, if the iron sights work for you, pretty much any scope won't ;)
  21. If I could find one, a little 1.2-5x36 Zeiss Duralyt might work well. Not huge, handy mag range and with the illuminated ret and the mag turned down very quick on target. Scrummy
