  1. Taken one off last week, that never shot well, and had only 5-600 rds down it. I've never seen such a bad barrel, it was scored and cross hatched down its entire length. Never going to shoot.
  2. Barrel/brake thread is m18 x 1.5 right hand, the thread on the end of the brake , is the same, but left hand Ewen.
  3. 1-9" ? If you are going to deviate from the 1-14" norm, then it should be an 8". You need a 12 to shoot the 53 grain v-max, which everyone seems to love in a 22-250.
  4. The bullet, is the projectile fitted, to the Cartridge. I,ve never understood the argument around calling them bullet heads....there is no such thing, and never has been...
  5. Well done on yesterdays PRL win , with this fella Alex. 😎 Proud of you mate.
  6. Spuhr. Absolutely no contest. You will never have an issue of any kind, and there will be an exact solution to your mounting venture.
  7. I started off a good few years ago [ around 2007 i think ] shooting an RPA with a border cut barrel at 30" long, which was a phenomenally accurate rifle, winning many mcqueens golds at bisley,in the various gallery rifle meetings, 4 times a year. I also shot a possible, 4-5-6 F class match at one of them. It was quite hilarious, considering it was the first time i'd ever shot F class, and thoroughly trounced some very well know shooters. That barrel, from memory, produced 3000 fps easily , with Vhit 550 and a 123 grain scenar. When I built another, i went with a 26" barrel, and there wasn't much difference in velocity. I have a spare AI barrel in the calibre now, which has yet to see any serious development/use, as I much prefer the creedmoor for 140 grain bullets etc. Around the time of the first gun, I built my shooting pal one, on a Surgeon, with a very heavy truflite barrel at 32". It was a ridiculously fast gun with reloder 15, and produced 3150 with it, but it did trash brass at that speed, but shot what the BR crowd would refer to as a "screamer" many times. The gun got nicknamed "the Gherkin" because it was green, and long, and was a somewhat well known gun at the time. I've had 2 or 3 reamers in that time, and always gone for the std SAAMI spec, on throat, as it suits what the case was designed for....123 grain bullets. Length isn't always the issue with speed, bore diameter has far more effect. A bit of fiddling with powders will generally get you where you want to be. As mentioned, I used 550 in the long tube, 540 would probably suit 26" better. Reloder 15 was always a good choice, and Varget was superb [alas ] Approach max with caution, The little case can be a hand grenade, and when the pin is out.....it's not your friend.
  8. Every 6.5 x 47 i've owned was magical at 3000 fps. The cartridge does not perform well at average velocities...it need full throttle, as your target shows. Get the speed up. 3000 fps should be easily achievable, without pressure or brass damage.
  9. Its short action. Probably exactly the same design brief as the creedmoor was all those years ago. Make it shoot a certain weight, at a certain speed, out of a short action magazine. its got a good few fps on the creed. having just got the 6.5 and the .30 reamers, i'm quite keen to try it myself. Dont think it will kill barrels like a 4S does.
  10. Fill your profile in, as per sales rules please.
  11. Another vote for the 7Rsaum. I've built several, and its a very accurate round indeed, and one of them, like 6.5 x47, 6mmBr etc etc, that you could load with dog sh1t, and it will shoot. Works on your magnum bolt face, and out of a .300 win mag, magazine. The Valkyrie is a 6.8 SPC bolt face, and available in a bighorn action. I've just finished one, and if its fine today, hopefully get some pics.
  12. Whilst its marked wrongly, the important bit [ 5/8" x 24 tpi ] is marked up, so it will fit your gun. Some of the Finnish mods simply state 5/8" unf, which technically should only be 18 TPI. The UNEF thread was one I cut very rarely over the last ten years, and all of a sudden, every bloody thing has it on. This was a tikka thing originally, as their major market is the states, and Bergara have followed suit. When a european manufacturer uses an American thread, its a big hint where most end up. Strangely enough in the states, they don't use many different threads at all. If its a 22 centre fire, they usually fit 1/2" x 28 which is the std AR15 thread, or 5/8 x 24 on anything bigger, such as an AR10 or any varmint barrel. They dont do metric.
  13. Its incorrectly marked. 5/8"UNF is 18 threads per inch. 5/8"UNEF is 24 threads per inch.
  14. 5/8" x 18 is UNF, and 5/8" x 24 is UNEF [ unified extra fine ]
  15. A pretty nice AR10 which went out recently. Cross machine billet upper/lower, and fitted with a Sassen cut blank at 20" , and chambered in .308win. My usual side charging conversion. The new muzzle brake. Magpul UBR stock and grip Midwest industries fore end. Cerakote Armour black Paintwork.
  16. My friends comes with the fittings, and , I have to say, is far better made than that one.
  17. This is the ARCA rail, asked about in the other thread guys.
  18. Nope, its an engineering pal of mine, who does a fair bit of shooting. If you look at my .22 rimfire thread, I have one on that AT.
  19. Thats fine, it gives your location, for potential buyers, thank you.
  20. Yep, my pal makes some beauties for the AX, AT, and AW. not silly money, and superb quality. Give me a buzz tomorrow, and i'll give you his number.
  21. I seriously doubt it was a fault on the action. I found simply cycling two different types of ammo, felt different. The cheap bulk winchester was harder to chamber. The quality RWS ammo, slid in beautifully. All down to rim thickness. There is no point buying a ferrari, and attempting to run it on 2 star.
  22. Nope, was on holiday all last week with the wife. May get chance for a zero this week.
