Richiew
Premier inn at Dumfries was good when we went to the old range . Decent pub food next door. Cheers

If you stay in an hotel you can take your firearms into the room. We did but left bolts locked in the car. It's not an unusual thing in the Borders what with all the stalking etc.
JCalleja91
Thanks @Richiewand @Popsbengo Only asking as I'm considering an overnighter in Wales and had no idea on what's allowed/accepted. Is it with the hotels consent/knowledge? Or just being discreet with it.
Richiew
Hi there we were just discrete and didn’t attract any undue attention. This was at the premier inn tho . A proper country hotel might have a secure storage place , but once you’ve asked they know what your up to so maybe best to keep quiet. Enjoy your shoot cheers

At the Eskdale Hotel in Langhome it was no problem because it's "normal"
bramble basher
go stalking in the same area if staying usually stop in Moffatt couple of reasonable hotels that offer secure storage couple of decent places to eat i always keep the bolt just for peace of mind b.b
meles meles
Eskdale Hotel in Langholm gets a recommendation from us too. Excellent food and ales at fair prices and the staff are very helpful - in fact they helped us carry our guns up to our room and once started breakfast a little earlier than usual for us so we weren't late getting to the range. https://www.eskdalehotel.co.uk https://www.eskdalehotel.co.uk/media/pdfs/Eskdale-Hotel-Food-Menu-langholm.pdf https://www.eskdalehotel.co.uk/media/pdfs/Eskdale-Hotel-Drinks-Menu-Langholm.pdf We particularly recommend their Border Chicken – Char Grilled Chicken breast stuffed with Haggis, wrapped in crispy bacon & our special whisky cream sauce. Served with your choice of hand cut chips or Dauphinoise potato and seasonal vegetables Edited October 14, 2022 by meles meles added links
ColinBR
Are the ranges open again this year? Heading down to the Longtown range next month, but wasn't sure if the main ranges were open again this year at Eskdalemuir
stottycake
I hope so as I've just renewed my membership, The first shoot at eskdalemuir area 4 range, was March last year as the weather is getting a little better by then,
ColinBR
Been told to wait and speak to Helen on the day. Sounds like an informal range with only so many shoots allowed per year.
