Are there fixed targets in place or have to take your own?   How far out can you get?

regards

Yep fixed targets from 200 to 940 meters, and gongs at 1450 meters ,but you can take your own,as I do,sometimes there's a gong at a mile as well,

What do you do with your firearms whilst staying overnight places?

take it all in a  peli case covered in guitar stickers to the room and go to the restaurant with the bolt or as many smaller parts to break the equipment down to . Locks on the case and a bike lock to a radiator etc ?? . What’s others ideas ????

If you stay in an hotel you can take your firearms into the room.  We did but left bolts locked in the car.  It's not an unusual thing in the Borders what with all the stalking etc.

Hi there

we were just discrete and didn’t attract any undue attention. This was at the premier inn tho . A proper country hotel might have a secure storage place , but once you’ve asked they know what your up to so maybe best to keep quiet.
Enjoy your shoot

cheers

Thanks @Richiewand @Popsbengo

Only asking as I'm considering an overnighter in Wales and had no idea on what's allowed/accepted.

Is it with the hotels consent/knowledge? Or just being discreet with it.

It depends on the familiarity of the hotel staff with shooting sports.  Discrete is best.  At the Eskdale Hotel in Langhome it was no problem because it's "normal"

Eskdale Hotel in Langholm gets a recommendation from us too. Excellent food and ales at fair prices and the staff are very helpful - in fact they helped us carry our guns up to our room and once started breakfast a little earlier than usual for us so we weren't late getting to the range.

We particularly recommend their Border Chicken – Char Grilled Chicken breast stuffed with Haggis, wrapped in crispy bacon & our special whisky cream sauce. Served with your choice of hand cut chips or Dauphinoise potato and seasonal vegetables

Been told to wait and speak to Helen on the day.

Sounds like an informal range with only so many shoots allowed per year.

I received an email today the first 3 dates are 18 Feb, and 4th & 22nd of March, for members
