All,

This years NRA Civilian Service rifle is being held from 26-30 June.

The event comprises of a stand alone Practical Rifle competition on 26th and is then followed by the Civ SR champs itself on 27-29th.

This competition is open to all and the only requirement, apart from having a safe shooter competency card, is that you have a rifle capable of holding at least 10rds. No HME by the way.

There are 4 classes:

Service Optic

Practical Optic

Iron Sights

Historic.

The competitions will be shot at distances of 500-25yds, depending on the match and will be shot on Bisley, Stoney Castle and Pirbright Ranges.

There is also a 4 man per team falling plate competition on the evening of the 29th, followed by BBQ and championships prize giving and then the 6 man per team Methuen Cup competition on the afternoon of Sunday 30th.

All are welcome, and I believe there are several ex-mil types on here, so you should relish the chance of once again being able to take part in competitions that you possibly shot while you were serving.

There is no requirement to enter the whole event, as each day has at least two separate competitions, so you can tailor it to your availability.

The entry forms are here and we would like to see as many enter as is possible.

We already have over 80 entries and I would like to see us break 100

Mark,

What about ye.

Just tried to enter this online - when I clicked on 'civilian service rifle' it returned a page saying "entries closed". Glitch or are entries closed?

Haha you funny guy

I kill you last.

If you are going to enter the PR match there's a thing you can use to enter, it's called a stamp

Well folks, we now have over 90 entries including several known "faces" from here.

So why not take a day off and come and join us, at least for the practical Rifle match on the 26th and have fun in the sun :-)

Anyone who,s coming to have a go, here is a video from January last year. This is me shooting the CQB match. Great fun, and one of the matches in this years Imperial. If you've never tried it, come and have a go, or drop in and watch for a bit.

Unless your rifles are Enfields as described in the Historic Class then you would have to shoot in either 'iron sights', 'practical optic' or 'service optic'. I see no reason to stop you shooting but the 6 round capacity of your magazine may/will hinder your ability to complete the practices in the time given. Some practices this will not be an issue but some others will be very difficult.

Copy of email I sent this morning

All,
This is a final email to chase up any last minute stragglers who haven't entered this years NRA Civ SR Championships.
Entries close on Thursday 20th June
As stated before the matches are being held on 26-30 June 2013.
As in previous years the competitions will be held on Bisley, Stoney Castle and Pirbright ranges.
So far we have 96 people entered for the various events this year, with many of those choosing to do one or more matches, wherever they can fit them in.
Remember, there's something for everyone, and it would be great to break the 100 barrier.
So if you have a day, or even 1/2 day spare, why not come along and join in the fun un the sun!
The entry forms are now available for download from the following link
We still have room for plenty more, and would very much like to see as many of you there as possible.
So if you're still thinking about entering and haven't yet done so, please do so at the soonest opportunity.
I have been asked by a couple of people that they would like to shoot the Falling Plates team match, but don't have a team.
If anyone can help them please let me know and I will forward the info on to them.
As in previous years we have organised a BBQ for the prize giving.
Again we will have Taff from the ARA doing the cooking, but this year it will take place in the courtyard of the LMRA.
This will be on saturday evening, directly after the falling plates match.
Cost is £6 per person.
Please let me know via email if you will be attending as I have to get a headcount.
After the entries close on Thursday I will compile the daily squadding and mail it out before the start of the championships.
If anyone has specific squadding requests, again please let me know via email.
Best regards
Mark Bradley

I'll try when it's all calmed down.

Entries have now closed at 113, I can't believe it.

It's going to be a huge Waltathon® teehee

Yup, just sorting out a mismatch of DPM and Flectarn, throwing the Multicam mankini in, just in case the weather picks up. :)

Seriously though, good attendance!

Managed to get to Wednesday's comp.

Have to admit, enjoyed it far more than I expected!

A hugely well organized and fun day.

Thank you Mark (and team!).

(And just to pre-empt any unfounded malicious rumours; I found butts duty and operation of the target mechanism absolutely straightforward; and the scoring system a one-explanation no-brainer  )

And this is a lesson in pre emptive damage limitation...........

Two broken target boards, score training ( thanks Mike/Baldie, much appreciated) and 9 details later we finally got the hang of it!

Thanks to all the organisers, RCO, Butts officer etc for a good day.

Mark and Co.

Thank you for a very enjoyable day. Well organised and challenging shoot, still feel I brought a knife to a gun fight!

The scoring was a bit of a learning curve. Butts duty not too bad especially as we had two of the Marx Brothers next to us to lighten up the day :)

Good to put faces to the web names.

Think this shooting could become a habit!
