  1. And I thought my reloading bench a tad “busy”😂😂😂
  2. The bag rider was a relatively cheap one from a UK company who make air rifle parts - it doesn’t have a locking peg on the picatinny fitment but so far it hasn’t moved at all Folding mech - yes absolutely must have for ease of bolt removal and cleaning - I’ve one ordered through Baldie which will arrive soon Ill also be adding a straight trigger blade from Alan Forster - whilst the trigger is good - I prefer a straight blade
  3. Same dimensions same action
  4. Yes worth the wait - now waiting for a folding mech 😀
  5. Thanks John Hope to see you at Eskdalemuir soon
  6. So I ordered an ATX a while ago and received it about a month ago The Creedmoor barrel was removed and sold on - I had no need for it The rifle stripped down and chassis parts sent for ceracoating at Liquid Steel Design who I use for my coating work I had already got a Sassen 7 twist on the shelf in ATX profile so once I had the action in hand I created the M27 x 2 thread checking size with appropriate gauges for a perfect fit to the action The chamber created with a BBT reamer to my spec throating for up to 115g bullets Finished at 26” with M18/1mm thread and a target slightly recessed crown Once the chassis was coated, reassembled all components and applied Bikt Hamber S50 to all fixings as the rifle will be used in all weathers A Sphur one piece mount was used to attaché the Kahles K525i (MSR2) scope The grip was changed from standard to a straight MDT which I like a lot Initial load testing today with RS70 revealed adequate accuracy (sub 1/2 Moa) with almost zero vertical spread I believe the horizontal to be my doing partly down to a poorly adjusted grip being too close (didn’t take the right Allen key to ajust at the range) and my excitement I started out with moderate loads Whixh showed no sign of pressure and a revisit to the range with slightly larger charges is on the cards I see no reason why this shouldn’t give 3000 plus with the DTacs Bolt manipulation was muscle memory perfect from every other A I I’ve owned Mag feed and pickup faultless I love the rifles balance and recoil signature The rifle needs a folding mechanism for ease of cleaning and to remove the bolt The bolt can be removed by raising the cheek piece but to clean the gun properly the rear pad has to be dropped and cheek piece removed - hence the necessity for a folding mech Id suggest this should come as standard plenty of space for the DTacs
  7. Given the conditions and stage constraints there were some very good scores considering
  8. Didn’t get a pic of them Gary sorry
  9. Just a quick note to say Thabks to Marc, Helen and their team for putting on a superb competition today Seven stages were put on for the 24 entrants to the comp of varying degrees of torturous difficulty The weather started out pretty cold and wet, then developed into very wet for a short period then decided to allow a yellow orb to glow in the sky towards midday The wind during the day varied from awkwardly difficult to absolute baxxtard (roughly 13-22 mph switching direction) The stages varied from 300 mtr poppers (9 shots three positions on unstable fence ) to 800 mtr 12 round through a stack of tubes (two rounds through each and 6 positional changes in 1 min 30 sec ) As an additional twist we shot another stage at 800 mtr without mag and single feeding (focussed the mind if you lose your mag and shows it’s still possible to function and connect with targetry a long way away) Mixed into this we’re other stages at 700, 500, 600 mtrs and merciless craich from fellow team mates and our hosts All in all, a superb day out - no egos , no BS, just fun with a capital F 👍🏻
  10. I think it’s time to draw this to a close - the crux of the discussion succinctly surmised by Lapua Should anyone cry censorship - feel free to start another thread, lets just remember this site is about Precision Rifle Shooting in its various forms and open for all those members involved to post in relevant areas within it Steel Plate shooting competition has many competitions running in the UK by several service providers - no, one “deliverer” is better than the other and no one person should dictate what the others do. The sooner we all realise this the sooner we all “get along” Onwards and upwards chaps - the common goal is getting more people involved
  11. When I have the spare time I will get on with mine - time something I don’t have a great deal spare though due to client work and other commitments
  12. They’re lovely rifles They can be converted to repeater which I plan to do with mine once I’ve worked out a few things Value - many about for 200-400 and newer ones are upwards of 700 Replacement Anchutz barrel could be fitted if accuracy failing due to rust (which is the main killer of these barrels ) if it’s of sentimental value then keep it original
  13. So does a 12 ton press and a variety of barrel clamps 👍🏻
  14. A tough one Jack On stuff like that I’d be running a .090” undercut .010” forwards of the action face to relieve tension on the barrel Works a treat Remys are notorious for being pigs to get off - they use some kind of loctite that compensated for the poor threading jobs ,,,,,
  15. If your concerned about Whidden dies then why not simply get someone with Shehane Resize reamer and Finish Reamer to make you a die set If the manufacturer of the rifle has made a chamber using Shehane spec then any Shehane spec reamer (resize and finish) will produce dies suitable for FL and seating die - the variances in spec may be throat length and neck diameter The neck spec if non standard will be marked on your rifle if you are desperate I can lend you my own Shehane die set that I’ve made for my own rifle in the interim on the proviso they are returned in condition sent so you can at least try resizing a couple of pieces of brass with my die set to see if that resizes your brass adequately
  16. All posts appear to be visible now - not sure what the problem was - can’t see any tech issues Hope the venue issues have been resolved and the competition does go ahead
  17. Just cerrosafe the chamber you will soon know which it is
  18. Newlon Die Blanks and whoever made your rifle use the chamber reamer to machine the seater and a resize reamer to machine the FL die That’s what I would do and have done for my own Shehane Ive also made a small base body die for the same cartridge Uou could also send some direct brass to Warner Tool which they will scan and then machine their own die sets for you Sit down when you see the cost though
  19. Accuracy International ATX profile barrel Standard length factory barrel taken from a brand new ATX Unfired - other than proof rounds Coated factory black with flats to assist removal, thread protector 24” length 5/8 x 24 thread Barrel diameter at shoulder before muzzle thread .975” This barrel should fit AW, AT, ATX and AE (I believe) Surplus to my requirements £650 inc shipping fee to RFD or collect from me
  20. Theres a chap selling a 4-16 x 42 PM11 thats on SD
  21. I don’t sorry , must be someone on here who has that type of tech
  22. Intershoot and other target orientated stores are likely to have them - the type I was thinking about would clamp over the existing blade using grub screws They used to be popular with the air rifle guys too (I’m talking late 80’s ) and now showing my age Having just looked at the trigger on one I have here for work I think that someone with a design flair and a printer could make a fillet piece that could be made to create a straight blade and move the surface of the “new blade” at least 10mm forwards of the original
  23. Dave would be probably best placed to answer Greg but have you considered a trigger “shoe” attachment ?
  24. The ones I have fixed have had extractor claws pulled in one case from their retaining inlet and others damaged to the point they would not hold onto case Rim Extractors do wear in all rifles but the ones I refer to all had signs of hard use (hot loads) wipe marks on bolt face , ejector plunger stuck, etc Easy fix is replace the extractor with new and give the bolt head a thorough clean after stripping down replacing the ejector plunger and spring plus roll pin with new You Could fit an M16 type extractor for ultimate reliable extraction (this is a job for someone who knows what they’re doing)
