  1. A bit more detail on exactly how those "fireworks" would manifest themselves please Cheers Bruce
  2. That was my understanding also. I recently has a CZ527 in 22 hornet shortened and threaded, by a smith who builds and shoots F class rifles and the subject of reproof was never even discussed. On a modern rifle which was proofed when new, can anyone describe a set of circumstances under which chopping the barrel by a couple of inches and rethreading it for a moderator can weaken the barrel to the point of failure? Cheers Bruce
  3. A friend had this problem with a Bergara B14BMP. in 6.5 CM It happened with several different types of primer including Murom and others I don't remember There was a problem with the firing pin which involved sending the rifle back and getting the firing pin replaced Cheers Bruce
  4. I have 2 of these stocks, one on a 22-250 and one on a 243 My pal also has 2, one on a 243 and one on a 30-06 All of these stocks were straight drop ins out of the box, no bedding, no pillars etc We've never had problems with zero shifting on any of the 4 stocks. I think you may be looking in the wrong place for the source of your problem Cheers Bruce
  5. There's a simpler and cheaper solution that allows you to use a scope with pic mounts on any rifle with an 11mm dovetail rail https://www.ant-supplies.uk/rails-and-adapters/scope-base-rail-adapters.html I use a pair of the short adaptors to mount my PARD NV008 onto a Tikka T1X rifle with an 11mm dovetail rails A really neat, low and inexpensive solution Simply fit the adaptor into the pic mount and then slide it onto the dovetail rail. Tighten the pic mount in the normal way and you're good to go. Cheers Bruce
  6. Mate uses one with a PARD NV007 and it works great That's a lot of scope for the money - best of luck with the sale Cheers Bruce
  7. High end scopes hunting scopes are primarily sold on their improved ability to give a usable sight picture at dawn and dusk. Good glass is very important, but it's lens coatings that give these scopes their edge at dawn and dusk. At those times of day, blue light predominates and the coatings used are designed to optimise the passage from light at the blue end of the spectrum. Because they are optimised for blue light, these coatings have the down side of not passing infra red light very well. It's their poor performance in passing the IR light used with all digital NV kit, along with their lack of low parallax adjustment that can often make top end scopes perform less well than cheaper scopes Cheers Bruce
  8. I fitted a PARD NV007 to an S&B 3-12x50 ffp scope last week. it did not have any parallax adjustment The image was just about usable out to around 100 yards, but only at x3 magnification. Anything much above that was pretty terrible. Cheers Bruce
  9. For daytime use - yes If you want to use it as an NV unit, then no - none of the top end scopes work well with IR illumination and none of them parallax down below 50m. Cheers Bruce
  10. A friend built a house which had underfloor heating. The heating consisted of thin plastic pipes set into the concrete of the floor and which then had hot water pumped through them. He had this in every room and had a fairly complicated control system of thermostats and motorised valves to direct the hot water to the right set of pipes. Unfortunately the electrician who had wired up the system had mixed up some of the thermostats and motorised valves with the thermostat in one room causing the floor in another room to heat up. I went round with the thermal imager and told him to operate one thermostsat at a time. I was able to clearly see the pattern of hot pipes in a room within 2 minutes of him turning on a thermostat. In less than an hour we had matched the thermostats to the valves and simply had to swap the connectors on the motorised valves to get the whole system working correctly Cheers Bruce
  11. It records in full HD so, with it fitted to your riflescope you can record whatever you see through the scope, irrespective of scope magnification Since the add-on is simply looking at your scope reticle and presuming your scope is zeroed, there will be absolutely no effect on accuracy Cheers Bruce
  12. I tried an Optisan EVX 4-14x44 FFP as a first venture into ffp scopes and hoping to use it as a day scope and with a night vision rear add-on. Frankly, I was disappointed with the image both in daylight and with the add-on. I returned it and bought a Hawke Frontier 3-15x50 FFP with which I am very pleased IMHO the Hawke is a class above the Optisan Cheers Bruce
  13. That 2 acre plantation of trees must be the only trees in Shetland Also, near the coast at the right side of the picture are 3 lines in the water - that's a mussel farm Cheers Bruce
  14. Don't think they're available yet. Optics warehouse in the UK and Delta's home site in Poland have been showing them as "due in" for several months Cheers Bruce
