  1. It's becoming a lot more apparent these last couple of years that they pick up on the ir my answer is the thermal scope from Night vision store uk it's a game changer! i was out last night showing a friend whose bought a cheap bit of kit and was disappointed in what it could do pulled up and scand the first field of sheep only to see a fox 90yards away laying down we were lucky as I pulled up making lots of noise he just lay ther I put the 223 with the thermal scope on the bonnet he was looking at us but just not bothered and that was it one shot a very dead Charly. i had the Digcepter scope out on the 22-250 and at that range the ir might just have spooked him.Thats the third fox this week with the thermal scope not one of them took any notice of me all under 140 yards.
  2. Spud and his staff are very helpful and professional wish every one I deal with worked to the same standard. Having retail out lets of my own I'm super critical some would say harsh even but Ive been really impressed by Spud and his team.
  3. Been out till late tonight and had a blank its that time of year when thier mating and pushing out the young as well to other foxs ground I've got one that's around more in the day time than at night got a Camra on the bait sites so should get some more of a target time, well done Bob for dedication I could not sit out in this weather in a high seat for so long!
  4. This thread has given me an idea I'll take mine with me on Saturday for a driven pheasant shoot it's a woodland shoot and or though we have a good team of picker ups some times it's difficult to find a bird in the cover so I'll try with a thermal. ive got the latest from Clive Ward so my trusty Pulser 38s is up for sale just pm if interested.
  5. In replying to Onehole the 243win is a wildcat cartridge and there for ideal for fox I used 95g noslers with night vision out to 300yards to good effect in my 243 RPA I originally had the calibre of the target round with a long-term strategy of adding it to dear but as I progressed to an open ticket I then started to use it alongside my 22-250 and 223 it became the go to Fox round as I've never had a runner even out 300 yards. Might be worth your friend joining BASC and getting them to argue the case as it should be a restriction due to safety grounds not overkill. I didn't have a large a acreage then hence target then dear
  6. My experience of markers has been the private markers at Bisley that were available and payed a small amount more were very good. How ever they are no more I believe for as I understand for what ever reason. No one will convince me that a well trained conscientious well-paid human can be replaced by a electric system. i would be shooting Diggle this week end but circumstances wouldn't have allowed it,I hopefully will be at the next one. I wait to hear how well the scoring system performs and I'm always happy to be proven wrong if there's a positive out come.
  7. Why do away with a marker and and a paper target? I just hate this we must use technology thing. One what happens when it's really raining I mean enough to still shoot but still really wet? Do they still work? Every time I've had experience of using electronic targets they have failed. Ok that's only four times but there's been an issue. why ow why can't we keep a skilled marker? Pay that person well for a job well done? will some please explain the so called advantage of this system Montey the Luddite
  8. I hope you checked neither had a nut allergy ?
  9. Ok let me explain Point one two pairs of very experienced shooters had shot first both wear un happy with the marker and the feed back they got back When I say experienced al are TR shooters with any years experance at this range at Bisly and have represented thier county. I gave up after 8 shots with my FTR rig that is dot on at that range end of no compromise I shoot with these guys because its were I started and I still Learn a lot from the many years of experance. The young lad I mentioned has shot at 1000y before with us (308 155g RWS ammo) he used the data gained from his prievus shoots. The point being every one goes on the information coming back from the marker he was told he was over and high we picked up that it was all going very wrong and stopped him shooting. After I took him to the zero range and set him up for 600y he was dot on. The NRA said we know this marker and we dought him (not word for word but???) they refunded our money no argument. My point is its all very well the NRA up grading the infer structure but training of the markers and paying a proper rate is most important. Its no good us having the best set up costing much time and money if the markers are not up to the job. As far as shooters doing it them selfs its a 1000y you can't leave the butts and shoot. At 600 we did suply our own marker and had a great shoot. The complaint has gone in and I've put my name on it.
  10. I went to shoot at 1000y today with my local club but we had an NRA marker who was at best incompertant at worst dam rite Dangerous!! I've made an official complaint regarding this marker and I urge every one Elle's to the same. The reason being if we just shrug our shoulders and say ow well that's what you get things wont change. I took one lad off to the zero range to check his zero at a 1000y it was down to 800y after he kept being told he was above the target.Thats dam rite dangerousness in any body's book. I'm posting this in the hope we can all get the NRA to improve the standard of markers. We are only as good as the feed back we get back.

    Rats in my shed

We've just had a rat infestation on the farm normally the three cats keep them at bay but for some reason we've had a lot move in So hers my tips by wooden based spring traps but get them before you have the problem. The reason being they need weathering in so leave them out side to get wet and smelly trust me it makes a big difrance. Next I've tried difrent bait over the years but now I'm using Alpen breakfast bars scatter around the trap don't just bait the trap! When you have a dead one note that the scattered bait and the bait on the trap has gone this tells us there's more to kill. The next trap happened by chance I had left oats in a plastic dust bin only to find 6 young rats had eaten thier way in through the lid This meant they jumped in but couldn't clime out,so now I have a rat trap invented by rats!! I hope this helps.
  12. Just cought this thread Its always good to see a business that offers exalant customer service grow. I look forward to dealing with you in the futer.
  13. Hi I've got 204 223 243 308 and if I had to have just one it would be 223 always plenty of rounds available.
  14. I recently posted a plug for one less Charly mods on here I'll add that when I replace any of my mods in future, I'll be going to Collin. The customer service was second to none. I own many other mods wildcat T8 Ase ultra TLD SRX and RPA's own. Some come close but none are as good in my opinion.

    Magpies

Used a Larson trap for years and I'm over 40plus magpies this year, but I've never fought a fox cub before!! My father checked the trap and found a young dog fox in the Larson trap. Soon got delt with I won't ad it to my tally for the year though.
  16. One point to rember, its illegal to pick up a Mixey rabit and move it to another area to infect the rabits there. At least that's the case if your a farmer. Then there's the hole Foot and Mouth thing. The last out break happened near the government labortry, and the other one had a gagging order! People I know sear blind that timber yards had orders for sleepers from DERA before the out break, and other farmers who traveled to Australia were told of the out break as they were disinfected coming off the plane pre out break. Will the truthe come out? I don't think so I my life time.
  17. My corner of Kent is well down and the black rabit post rings true were there's been black rabits those borrows have dropped massively. One of my favrite bits to shoot with a centre fire hasn't given me one shot this year. I shot a black rabit from that barow last spring. If this is happening it needs stopping. Perhaps Mr May whose so fond of badgers should get up of his pompous back side and do something. Even BASC could get involved.
  18. I must ad Graham and Staff at Sporting Services for any and every thing.
  19. Dolphin Guns Micks built me three rifles and all were built on time, and shoot spot on and I mean super acurate! I've used two other builders one never dilvered and returned my deposit. The other always took twice the quoted time but did a good job.I won't go any were but Dolphin guns and I'm not an easy customer! Wilson and Wilson in Thanet Kent are very helpful and carry a good stock of reloading supply's.
