baldie
Finished this today for a Friend, who is a bloody good customer. Its his old CZ that was originally a .243 and was worn out basically. It now wears a new Pac-nor barrel , 1 in 7" twist and is chambered in 6XC. The stock is a Staffordshire Synthetic Stock that he has had some time. Barrel is screwcut and invisible capped to accommodate the Hardy moderator. Rail is a very nice US optics model. The trigger is a new Timney. Ever took a 550 trigger and internals apart ? Dont....not unless you have an I-phone and a very good memory.... Enjoyed this one....it was...different....... Paint is Duracoat in Baldiecam pattern.

baldie
Yes I,ve built a few, including owning one myself, but to be honest I,ve hardly even shot it in. I also have a Tubb 6xc and much prefer this cartridge.
The Gun Pimp
'Ever took a 550 trigger and internals apart?" - asks Baldie Yup - makes you realise just what a good design the Remmy is! And yes - we have a set of pics should anyone need them!

I also have a Tubb 6xc and much prefer this cartridge. I'm just playing with my 6XC Dave - running 105 Bergers at 3350fps with Elcho 17. Anyone tried any other powder? Tried Vit 150 - bit too fast. Tried H4350 - poor velocity

I don't know why I tease myself with them though... I'm struggling to even get a .243 on my ticket!

gunner
Cheers Dave, you have done me proud. I can't wait to get it home and put some rounds through it. Iv kinda allways thought that cz look abit old style , but i know they are great rifles solid and accurate , now this has had daves treatment it does look awsome ! Im just loving that paint job , but at the end of the day , to me , as long as a rifle is accurate , then looks dont really matter too much . Have fun and great work dave ! Cumbrian 1
I've managed to find a load that it likes, 39grn H4350, 105 AMAX 3120 fps. I shot this group yesterday despite the S***e weather which is probably one of the best groups that I have shot in a long while. 5 shot group 100 metres prone Not bad for a mauser action! Cumbrian 1
Very good Great speed as well with the 105gr Gaz Cheers, velocity is trued on actual field data, I have tried a traditional chrono and the acoustic ones but never had any great success, I took it bunny bashing up in the pennines on the weekend and it never missed a beat. Soggy biscuit
Baldie would 6.5 creedmoor with 140/143 eld bullets fit in the 550 magazine. Cheers sb.

And yes - we have a set of pics should anyone need them!" To be fair to CZ the trigger does have the set facility built in so it is bound to be the teensiest bit more complex than a standard remmie! Viajero
So is a CZ550 a good basis for a semi custom ? many have nice wood and along with a steel mag is it all good ? better donor than a Remy ?
Scrumbag
I love CZs (own 2) and my father owns 3. I would say good place to start if you want a sporter or varminter but not all work with detachable mags if that is your thing. Scrummy
Kalahari
Floorplates are good!!! Well I think so, as somehow they seem to feed better in a 98 type action. Although I have no problems with my 527 in 223 to be honest. David.

Kalahari
I am sure that this is true. But you know I am an unreconstructed luddite! David.
Kalahari
Just to add to my old-fashionedness I prefer staggered box types to single row stacks. David.
