  1. Pete, no offence taken here. If/when I have more time I intend to spend more time shooting but probably not at Bisley simply because I can shoot locally or when I choose to travel its for a different type of shooting than that offered at Bisley. Your interest in experimenting is similar to mine and I find it very enjoyable, not pushed a 223 to longer ranges though. Breacher sums it all up very well.
  2. Mileage isn't really a factor to go to something specific but its a waste to go plinking and there's Bradders moaning about only 75 miles and the time it takes 😂 I'm lucky to have a lovely 500yd range and several tunnel ranges within 15 miles of home and Diggle is around an hours drive so like I said Bisley ain't the be all and end all. Each to their own.
  3. 320 mile plus round trip takes the edge off. Southerners seem to think Bisley is the be all and end all. It ain't!
  4. So you'd rather have a strong pound as we head slowly towards brexit?
  5. I own/ use a V2 and find it excellent. I cannot shoot the difference it makes when fitted to varmint contour barrels or heavier but it does effect a light weight sporter barrel I have. However I do not conduct load development with it fitted other than when initially testing for where pressure signs start to become apparent in my rifles and use the velocity obtained as guide to pressure and cross referenced with quick load. I then develop a load looking for accuracy first. Once that's obtained I use the V2 to establish the velocity and couldn't care less what accuracy is like whilst chronograping as its an already proven accurate load. Do you shoot at Leek rifle club? If you do you are welcome to try mine.
  6. Pretty conclusive and impressive John, you must be pleased with the results.
  7. I till can't get the colour change? I want white numbers on black background.
  8. Still can't get the colour change. Do you have to set the layers up prior to drawing the wrap or can it be done after?
  9. Im not sure what you mean? If I try to hatch a section it tells me there is no boundary selected?
  10. Ok. Got to a point where ive mastered the wrap and spacing but how on earth do you change the background colour? I've got black numbers on a white back ground and want vice a versa?

    Keeping Chickens

Good for you. We've kept chickens for years and the youngest daughter loves to look after them. Echo Terry's view on mites/rats, it's down to good house keeping and to some extent location and we treat ours with mites treatment a couple of times a year. One piece of advice though, fence them into their own area with plenty of space for them to forage about. We buy run of the mill Red Warrens as for egg production you don't need anything exotic and there are cheap, around £7.50 each and keep a cockerel with them that was given to us years ago. Can't beat having fresh eggs for breakfast.

    Which boots ?

    Meindl dovre extreme.
  13. I'm left handed and all my rifles are left handed bolt. Any lefties shooting right handed are surely making life difficult for themselves? Ask yourself this - if shooting an opposite handed gun is so good how come you don't see right handed people shooting left handed guns? Shooting a right handed gun prone is not too bad but even then I have to let go of the rear bag to cycle the bolt, something I don't need to do when i'm shooting my own l/h rifles. Standing shots are terrible, let go of the forend to cycle the bolt - loose the sight picture in the process, waste time reaquiring the target - no thanks. Sure some lefties shoot right handed guns very well but I suspect they have conditioned themselves to do so and that now feels natural to them, either that or they have a dominant right eye...... There are definately more lefties out there which is evident by the number of lefties on the forum. I've forgoten exactly what proprotion of the population is left handed but I think its around 10%. Carry that through to the shooters and you can see that gun makers only making righ handers are missing out on a potential 10% of customers.
  14. Thats not his 'best face' though is it Rob........an image i'm trying to forget. Thanks to all for the pics, the day passed very quickly and a few photos help remember it all.
  15. The course of fire as described by BD above was for me the best of the day, I've never known 2 minutes evaporate so quick.
  16. Same here, thanks to Matt and Andrew and to everyone else for just making the day what it was. Barry, your display of shooting on the gongs down the valley will stay with me for a very long time, superb. Only other thing which sticks in my mind is my sitting unsupported shooting is c...
