  1. Hi Lee , Hawke are good for the money and boxed up better than my Atacr or IOR's were ! Only downside for me was not enough elevation for what i needed . Greg
  2. I have two 12-52's on 7mm's and they tick all the boxes for me ..... I sold my Atacr after getting the first one ! If i was being picky .... The 12-52 has only one ret choice which I find busy and they called it a Terminator 🤢 OSOK
  3. What sort of groups are you getting Ewen ? Greg
  4. Another problem in shooting the 22's at these ranges is target board widths as a 30 inch wide target giving + or - 15 inches at 442 yards is a very small window ..... something like a 1.5 mph switch and your off the board. I've tried shooting in a full value 10mph and it's so hard , I think i worked it out that it's the same as shooting a 180g Berger hybrid at 3100 ft/sec at a target 2,860 yards away..... give or take conditions etc...... 15 moa ish Greg
  5. Yes mine is a pre-fit for the 455's ....... I have thought about a tuner but Im not convinced it would have any effect on the 30 ft/sec spread variations at 400 plus yards ? Greg
  6. Hi Terry , Mine is a 455 but with a match trigger and Lilja barrel which shoots very well with Eley Edge & Midas however i cant find any make that gives great spreads ....... on the very rare occasion i may get ES's of slightly under 20 ft/sec over ten shots but mostly its around the 30 ft/sec . Regards Greg
  7. Yes my understanding is that the subs are the most accurate in 22lr and not the high velocity . I was going subs for that reason and in being more of a challenge ..... Ewen , Are you shooting subs at Bisley and what are you achieving at 400 yards ? My recent one off findings with Eley Edge doing approx 1,070 ft/sec at 442 yards was giving me a vertical dispersion of 17.5 Inches which seemed awful until you looked at their velocities .... 1,079 the fastest and 1,048 the slowest so assuming that the two offending shots were these velocities the 31 ft/sec equals 16 Inches at that range ....406 Inches compared to 390 Inches ....... Not sure what results people are getting OSOK
  8. Does anyone know about any competitions or just get togethers ( under normal circumstances ) where its just 22lr with Subs at distance ? If so what distances are they being shot at and is it based upon score or group size ........ If it's group then what are people achieving and at what distance ? OSOK
  9. This is two weeks old and unmarked , Second focal plane with SR Pro Ret complete with Sunshade .. Side wheel .. Pointer .. Box etc all as New . £285 inc p&p OSOK
  10. Everyone has a different need to suit their way of shooting at night .... As i shoot alone from the top of a truck i like positions where i can scan for several fields , 500 / 600 yards so i see them coming . To verify the thermal i find a 15x Drone and a Dragonfly is the best ive tried and i could open a shop with so called ' This is the best IR ever ' But again i always come back to the Dragonfly for distance and its never spooked any . As i'm stationary the 15x works well but not for people who either drive or limit their shooting distances as FOV is narrow so 10x's are better but still challenging . I have a Pard 008 LRF and trust me as nice and handy as it is its no Drone . NV is a trade off and digital IMHO is more practical than tube but for image quality my PVS-14 is a mile ahead but sticking it on the rear of my scope was a nightmare . Again IMHO thermal rifle scopes are not good enough as yet for my needs as my XP50 is a 640x480 and dependant upon conditions night to night i need NV to confirm at distance . I have a feeling that the Military are probably blocking the sale of anything better than the 640x480 ! Just my thoughts OSOK
  11. The OP said he wants 1000 yard accuracy and I've used F Class as the benchmark of that . I was running both 139g Scenars and 155g Cauto's through mine at 3,400 ish but had to back both back to 3,268 & 3,210 to get them to shoot well at which time they had lost any advantages . My 6.5 WSM running at 3,400 was the same as my 7/270 WSM running at less than 2,900 given my bullet choice etc . OSOK
  12. This really isn't that hard to understand .... BC's are higher in 7mm's than 6.5mm's so on a day when the wind is up a good shooter with a 7mm will should beat a good shooter with a 6.5mm . You really need look no further than 1000 yard F Class shooters around the world and they don't use 6.5's anymore ... It's either 7mm's or 30 Cals . I've seen very good 6mm's and 6.5x284's clean up at 600 & 800 yards on calm days but thats not common . Anyone who remembers the 2009 world F Class champs at Bisley where the US team bought 6.5's and were hammered by our 7mm's .... Top 13 positions from memory were UK 7mm's ! To try and push any 6.5 to compete with a competitive 7mm you would end up with a barrel burner / limited barrel life and too much heat across your 2 & 15's that i found would give poor results .... better to run a 7mm in WSM , Saum or 284 Whatever you build keep the weight upto the max allowed ... I always found that this helped especially if it was a heavy action , rings and scope etc ... ie , right over where it goes bang and not as an after thought in the ass end of the stock . OSOK
  13. The best 6.5 is a 7 ... If you want to hit target then most 6.5's will do the job but if you want to be competitive then a 7mm . I have a 6.5mm WSM and it won't live with one of my 7/270's running a pedestrian load .... not to mention the barrel heat ! Just my thoughts OSOK
  14. Don't sell it ...It's the best kit out there and It's not that hard to use , I would send you some easy setup pages that I learnt from if you want . OSOK
  15. My understanding is that Marc was opening another range for Police and Military use based upon 2k max with moving targets etc whilst keeping the Eskdalemuir range open as normal . In the meantime it appears that the land owner and the 50 cal club have had secret talks to setup the same range but run by the 50 cal club . Gardners have control of the land around the existing range which I'm guessing would have issues for anyone wanting to run the current range due to the fall out area and with the land owner going behind Marc's back I can't see that being an option . Please don't take this as gospel as this is what I've gathered speaking to a reliable source. I would Imagine that my membership along with others would be used at the new range ???????? OSOK
  16. A few hours earlier and It would have been on top of us !!! OSOK
  17. For load development ..... shoot two at a time on the range until your happy and it repeats . If the second shot isn't touching the first then the third shot won't bring them any closer ! OSOK
  18. I don't think you will find one as the rear is a silly design that slopes away .I have two A5’s and had bag riders made. Drop me a PM with your email details and I'll send you pictures of mine . OSOK
  19. Short term option for less than £30 would be a 20moa rail riser from OW onto your 20moa existing rail ( I assume ) giving you 40moa OSOK
  20. Can you give me the serial number on the action it was done for please Does it have an end cap ? OSOK
  21. Pete , Try 31.0g / 31.5g of N133 behind a BR4 ..... This was my load using a 52g Barts , So Sierra will be fine . Greg
