  1. Got one on my 6.5 creedmoor Howa. Fabulous bit of kit ! Can’t recommend enough
  2. Thanks fellas. Thought this thread had run its course to be honest after Pops “helpful” advice Like the idea of an ultrasonic with paraffin Dellboy - never occurred to me to use that. Do you just run a cloth through the diffuser Dellboy? Any residue left etc? Thanks for the advice.
  3. Leezie, I have a copy of Lymans lead cast bullet load book (can’t remember its title)! I’ll scan a couple of pages of their 308 load data and message you. It’ll have to be tomorrow now. 12grains of Unique seems to do pretty much anything 30ish calibre though from memory. Worked for me in 303 out to 200 yards with gas checks.
  4. Have you considered lead cast loads using a powder such as Unique? You can buy cast lead bullets from people like the shell house bullet company on line and using a much reduced load over say 100yards, start to get a real feel for wind and elevation. Don’t recommend this if your not an experienced reloader though and even if you are make sure you reference reputable load data from people like Lyman for example.
  5. I’m not payed up to be honest, riff raff just seems to be my natural position. A bit like Ronnie Corbett in that famous class sketch.... “I know my place” 😀
  6. That’s good news Pops! What’s the source is it available to us riff raff?
  7. 24” barrel. 43.5g RS62 with 139 Lapua Scenars in Lapua SR brass with CCI 450’s gives 2740fps for me
  8. Just wondering what others do to clean their strippable moderators such as Wildcat Evo’s. I’ve been giving mine a scrub with washing detergent and warm water before drying and an oily rag wipe over prior to reassembly. This seems to be working well but feels very agricultural! Is anyone out there being a little more sophisticated and using ultrasonic etc.? If so, any pro’s or con’s? I tend not to want to fix something that isn’t broken, but I am getting bored of standing at the sink..... one of the reasons I own a dishwasher. Might be interesting to see what others do.
  9. I think it was Mark Twain who said that if voting made a difference they wouldn’t let us do it
  10. I think my earnest belief that my vote mattered is rapidly becoming fanciful speculation too 😥
  11. Just checked his website www.privatemarker.co.uk Seems reasonable costs..... I need to go away and do the sums now, I’m likely to be in touch.
  12. Crikey! Sounds like Pops is accepting that Brexit will happen..... 😊 Have we worn you down mate?
  13. That’s exactly what I do. I shoot for fun, a plinky plonker as Bradders used to say. But I enjoy shooting accurately and that method works for me. I get consistent neck tension, low sd and spread numbers on my home loads when I use my chrony. Works for me.
  14. No personal experience of these but a good mate of mine has started using the 80g bullets in his 223 Tikka Tac with the 24” barrel and 1:8 twist. His shooting was superb yesterday at 600 yards on Kingsbury range with an RS52 based load, so good in fact that it has persuaded me to start some load development for them in my 1:8 twist barrel too.
  15. Had a fiddle yesterday. Loaded up some with N140 and found 23.6 (starting load on Vihtavuori data) gave me a .4 moa group at 100 yards when 30 thou off the lands. Must admit I was surprised that it was the best group. My plan is to repeat that with my chrono next week and do a proper series of tests, not just a fiddle, but crikey, it was like a laser beam!
  16. It’s now been sold, sorry you missed it but thanks for your interest
  17. Yeah just realised I was being thick - thanks, topic edited...!
  18. Hi Folks, New to 223 but following advice on this forum decided I’d get hold of some 69 grain matchkings for my first loads. Haven't shot the rifle yet, it’s a 24” barrel with 1:8 twist, but started to load some ammo up today. Does anyone have any other favourite bullets they’d recommend? Any thoughts gratefully received.
  19. The directive was clear. No CALIBRE greater than 7.62/.308 My Lee Enfields are all less than that, being .303 CALIBRE No where have I seen any reference to diameter. Whats tricky about that?
