  1. I'm certainly interested if Warcop will follow. Fingers crossed. 🤞 G 🙂
  2. Possibly they have sent you an incorrect seating stem? Would recommend you measure the length of the stem and and let them know. Cheers G
  3. I've been shooting there with another club for nearly two years, never had any issues, Marc and Dave are brand new, the details are run effectively and most importantly always very safely. Marc is always approachable, watched him numerous times helping new shooters, spotting for them and providing advice.
  4. It's an excellent place to start Lee. You can confirm your Zero at 100 and then step out in 100 increments banging away at good size steel plates to dinky steel plates until you run out of ammo! Marc will help you if needed or other shooters (all a good bunch) and excuse me for being patronising if it comes over that way (just being helpful!!) I would suggest you print a ballistic calculator/solution for your ammo based on your known estimated velocities so that you can dial in for each distance. If you have a kestrel all good but if not suggest you print off a ballistic calculator for 5 10 & 15 mph winds so that you can get a reasonable guesstimate for dialling in windage for the different distances. They also ave full coffee and biscuits and toilet facilities (and that's in order of priority for me!) 😁 It's also under cover as well. All the best G
  5. I'm not sure if anyone has successfully hit the 2 mile yet(?). I've seen the mile hit a number of times and the target just beyond on the hill (can't remember the distance). Marc what's the furthest anyone has got to? G
  6. If you get the chance to go I would seriously recommend it. Its a great venue with gongs every 100 yards out to 1000 yards and well beyond, Marc is also a great host and you are certain of a good day with a friendly atmosphere. G
  7. Theres a mid point, FL size but only enough to knock your shoulders back a few though which still allows for a good case alignment to your chamber. If you use a FL bushing die you can adjust as above and still play with neck tension (if thats your pleasure) or even use a Lee collet die for sizing the necks.
  8. Cheers all, I contacted Berger and they recommend 185 hybrids (optimally for the range of temps I shoot) and they also provided for info 190 and 200s to try. Was really impressed with the tech support, they provided load data, bullet stats and velocity ranges. G
  9. Thanks both. @nd what twist rate do you have? Cheers G
  10. Hi All, Looking for anyone with real world application of using heavy bullets in a 1 in 11 twist 300 Win Mag? Currently using 190 SMK and looking for best heavy (Berger or other) bullet for use out to 1000+ yards. All the best G
  11. I don't know if your apple can utilise th following but this is what I have for my Windows tablet device. Usb microscope Your apple may not need software but I use this for Windows http://www.sharpcap.co.uk/sharpcap/downloads At least it should give you a few ideas. HTH G
  12. I use a usb microscope bought off eBay/Amazon (circa £20) and some free software used for star gazing. I'm using a Windows tablet but the principle is the same. When I'm home I can confirm the details of the above. The bottom line is you don't have to spend a.fortune. G
  13. I'd have one of those if it played that music while I was reloading! 😁
  14. I'm going to come over as very OCD, so no flaming please, it's just what I do that works for me...... I wanted to batch my brass in batches of ten based on their WCC. Cleaning and processing in tens is completely crazy and unworkable so had to come up with a solution that would allow me to wet clean in ss media in batches of 50 and allow them to get sorted afterwards. I use an electric scribe/electric pencil to mark a number on the left of the headstamp for the series and a letter on the right size to group in 5/10. It's a chore and a bit extreme but that's my regime and helps me keep track of brass. HTH G
  15. or lay the on the top of the radiator and roll them under your palm with a chisel nosed sharpie laying in the extractor groove. For multiple colours just tape two sharpies together and let the chisel nosed sharpie index in the groove.
  16. Hi All, I read this article which is interesting. It explains the likelihood of why 2019 GGG 155gr ammo was causing broken extractors. https://nra.org.uk/ggg-2019-7-62-155gr-match-ammunition/ Does anyone know what primers GGG actually use for this ammunition? (just so that I can avoid this issue!!🙂 ) As an aside, they state the ammo isn't dangerous, however, is it worth calling out that for anyone reloading this brass it may be worth noting that there could be a potential increased risk of premature case head separation? (not being a Negative Nelly but this may be worth calling out for anyone unsuspecting of once-fired brass). ATB G
  17. Hi M, If its a new factory rifle and hasn't been rebarreled / rechambered etc. it's unlikely that you would have excess headspace due to the quality control of the manufacturer. Obviously, exceptions can occur but if you're unsure you could get it checked by your local gunsmith to ensure its within tolerance. Cheers G
  18. Oh, if you can confirm what tool your using to measure (assuming base of case to shoulder?) And the case (.308, .223, 303, 300 win mag etc) this will help determine how your headspace should be measured. ATB G
  19. Hi M, First off what rifle are you shooting? If it's a standard factory rifle I would suggest you just bring your thermometer down a few notches.🙂 Some rifles are chambered with a forgiving chamber and some are within really close tolerances such as high end match/target rifles. If you compared the two fired cases from each rifle there would likely to be a reasonable variance. As an example my Lee Enfield battle rifle SMLE circa 1916 is a .303 and when compared to my mates Lee Enfield No 4 T you would be amazed at the physical difference with the eye when comparing them. A grown up will come along soon to comment but rifles are chambered within an allowed variance/tolerance within SAAMI specs and that's why you see differences in cases between rifles. Don't sweat it too much. This game will have you chasing your tail for a long time! All the best G (in Fife and it's dry. Bonus!)
  20. Ditto. Thanks for actually taking the time to explain BlueBoy, its a fascinating topic. Very helpful. 👍
