  1. Comms are sometimes slow. Chris is a gentleman and 100% trustworthy
  2. This sounds like it could have an impact on PRS type events then?
  3. Just bring your rifle and ammo. Decent clothing as you have stated and an open mind. Apart from that, just listen, learn and enjoy it. There will be plenty of shooting and butts duty, standing, kneeling, sitting and prone positional. After that, throw yourself into a competition, tell them it's your first one and they will squad you with an experienced shooter. Best way to learn is in competition. Don't expect to do brilliantly, just start by trying to get as many shots on the target as possible. Some people will scoff if you tell them you have to hit an 18MOA wide target, with a 4MOA bull at 100 yards, but standing with a 3 sec exposure, lots of people miss! CSR isn't easy, if it was there would be a lot more people shooting it. It is, however, the best fun you'll have on a UK range.
  4. I think it is a good thing that there is potentially a new PRS range in the South of England. It's the NRA's range, so they should run it. When the trial event took place I wonder whether there was any agreement that Josh could continue running it? I doubt it. Personally I think people should embrace the expansion and get behind them, but unfortunately the British shooting community always seem to find something to moan about. The NRA is a charity and The National Shooting Centre is a business. They have to pay wages, tax, National Insurance, Pensions, insurance, upkeep, gas, electric, water and all the assorted costs involved in businesses. Of course they have to make money, otherwise the place will close. I wish them well and will attend their training and competitions.
  5. I suppose if Josh ran it, everyone would need to be a member of his Home Office club? Wasn't that the issue when he did the training? Clearly the NRA have picked it up and run with it, they simply won't want someone else to benefit financially from it.
  6. Probably more commercial common sense that Politics. The NRA needs to have income to run the ranges and infrastructure, why would they have a middle man?
  7. Thanks, I'll have a look at the different 'versions'
  8. So I have been looking into this precision rifle shooting, toying with the idea of giving it a go. From what I can see there is the Precision Rifle Series UK, GB Precision Rifle Assoc, and the UK Rifle Series and possibly others. Can anyone explain the difference between them? Thanks in advance
  9. you can respond more than once.. You don't have to give an address
  10. Then those quantities apply only to Separation distances. i.e. Separation distances don't apply until you exceed those limits. The total 15KG is the quantity you can hold without a licence.
  11. Well that's conflicting then
  12. Where did you find the reference to 300g of primer explosive? Sect 7 covers quantities you can hold without a storage licence. This just says 15KG of Ammo & Primers combined. Authorisation to store explosives 7.—(1) Subject to paragraph (2), no person may store explosives unless that person holds a licence for their storage and complies with the conditions of that licence. (2) Paragraph (1) does not apply to— (a)the storage of one or more of the following— (i)no more than 10 kilograms of shooters’ powder; (ii)no more than 5 kilograms of— (aa)shooters’ powder; or (bb)any hazard type 3 or 4 explosive, or desensitised explosive, which is not a relevant explosive, or a combination of hazard type 3 or 4 explosives, or desensitised explosives, which are not relevant explosives; or (cc)a combination of shooters’ powder and any hazard type 3 or 4 explosives, or desensitised explosives, which are not relevant explosives; (iii)no more than 15 kilograms of percussion caps or small arms ammunition or a mixture of them; (My Bold)
  13. I've often wondered how the 'Mummified' Rifles are sold. Surely they haven't been proofed, otherwise they wouldn't be mummified. Therefore, unproved, illegal to sell
  14. I would say the opposite is true. There are constant improvements being done, I think the ranges are actually good value for money. Apart from a lack of flexibility over available distances, the process of booking is simple. Not sure what you mean by overstretched? There are certainly more visible staff members around, but they seem to be checking on safety and, in the main, are polite and helpful. The NRA's biggest problem is the large number of detractors, many of whom seldom go there but clearly know 'how bad it is'. It obviously isn't local for many, which is a shame, but wherever it was some people would be close, others would have to travel.
  15. Just bought a consignment of bankrupt stock. Loads of PPU ammo in various calibres. Available now whilst stocks last. So there is a price - 6.5x55 139gr FMJ - £19/20 - £95/100 Other calibres available Link to AMMO
  16. There is a space on your FAC for additional numbers , it says Identification number and the unique identifying mark as applied the the firearm's frame, or receiver and, where different , the unique identifying mark as applied to each relevant component part. I have advised my force of different receiver and upper serial numbers. They acknowledged it and said it had been recorded on the firearms database system. They haven't, to date, written the second number on my certificate. Most new rifles I have seen have had the same number on each component part.
  17. Read from page 94, in particular Para 12.53 , it's all in black and white guidance. It is only guidance, but always useful to know what the Home Office says, because the Police often won't. Home Office Firearms Guide.
  18. From the Reload Swiss data website
  19. I suppose it depends which class you are shooting in. There's never been a 50:10 in G Class to my knowledge Good shooting either way
