  1. Thank you, that's what I was after Much appreciated
  2. So the receiver is now flat topped with the picatinny bolted onto it? Were the AW's dovetailed and any rails bolted onto that, or did flat top receivers begin with the AT?
  3. Is the picatinny rail on an AT integral to the action or bolted onto it? If bolted on, is the action the standard 11mm dovetail that AI are famous for or is it flat topped? Thanks
  4. I think we'll take it one step at a time. These things have a danger of running away with themselves. Having done stuff like this before and taken people on their word 'I want one' etc etc and been lumbered with left overs, I think this may be a strictly limited run to start with, we both need one, and aren't doing it as a business venture. The problem is, everyone has grand ideas with somebody else's money! We will keep you all posted.
  5. I have the PRS-18 but prefer the PRS-17 for everyday wear, light, thin, simple. This one was £60 secondhand on ebay, boxed with papers.
  6. We have the manufacturer ready, so once the 3D model works and we have a CNC file format then they will go ahead. Material and numbers will depend on price, but we will be looking at Aluminium ones and probably getting a price for Titanium. I expect we will self fund a batch and sell them off between us, but Titanium ones, if they are feasable, will probably be 'pay up front'. We will keep you posted.
  7. Timefactors Dreadnought GMT and the background needs no introduction
  8. Give him a call Matt, he will bore you to death on the phone about watches, but he was a Drop Short, so that's probably why
  9. We used an existing PRS design and had a logo put on the face, but we could have changed the Lume, Hands Numbers etc. He has them made for the batch to my knowledge
  10. Why not design your own 'Brown Dog Field Watch' and chat with Eddie Platts at Timefactors to get a limited Edition made. He did a run for me of only 75 pieces for an REBD Anniversary watch. You'll get exactly what you want then, just down to you to market and sell the others, preferably before they get made
  11. Well stick two fingers up to them and go and buy a firearm without a variation then, if you can find an RFD to sell you one. I thought this thread was about legalities rather than personal rants?
  12. NPCC guidance to RFDs It is illegal to complete a sale (accept full payment) for a firearm, Section 1 component part or accessory or shot gun to a person who cannot produce a firearm or shot gun certificate authorising them to acquire the firearm etc. You may only take a deposit on a purchase prior to sight of the relevant certificate giving authority to purchase the firearm. https://basc.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Good-Practice-Guide-for-Registered-Firearms-Dealers.pdf
  13. It would be illegal as it would be selling a firearm to someone not authorised to possess
  14. You can pay a deposit to secure it. They can't take full payment and sell it to you until you have a suitable slot on your FAC
  15. In all seriousness, when I was shooting in the 80's/90's it was rare to see a bipod and even rarer to see someone laying a rifle across a bag, rest, tripod, sandbag or anything else. It was mainly off the elbows and slings. Nowadays, walk along the firing point at Bisley on any club shoot day and you will struggle to see anyone shooting without a rest. When did things change I wonder, and where's the enjoyment of hammering in V Bull after V Bull from 300 yards when the rifle is rock solid on a rest? Just my two penn'th
  16. Spend a grand on a scope and learn to shoot off your elbows!
  17. Token gestures to appease Theresa Maybe, many of which are already falling apart, such as Glos/Wilts/A&S Operational Firearms Dept, and other collaborated units that are 'uncollaborating' It's all unravelling
  18. Having dealt with HMG procurement depts at National and Local Govt level and had arguments about buying something at three times the price that it could be obtained for same day at Screwfix, for example, the answer they give is: Our suppliers are vetted and they own the risk that the product is ethically made. That's why it costs more and why we only use vetted suppliers. Basically the middle men are the fall guys if it turns out that Magpul accessories for the British Army are made by 7 year old Vietnamese kids who sleep on the factory floor. Also remember that these main dealers rely on Govt orders to keep in business, they aren't kept afloat by the shooting community, so they obtain exclusivity agreements to supply the UK etc. If they didn't then the manufacturers wouldn't be dealing with joe public or small gun shops, so everyone loses out. the Govt contracts are the cherry on the cake for being the appointed distributor. Finally, if you've ever met HMG procurement people then you'll know it's a case of 'computer says no' They certainly don't have the ability to manage onboarding, distribution, upkeep and maintaining the supply chain and if they handed that baton over to the RLC, for instance, someone would start saying 'why do we need a procurement dept' and turkeys don't vote for Christmas! Thats the reason you'll never see a National Police Service because there are 43 Chief Officer teams, 43 Procurement Depts, 43 IT Depts, 43 everything and none of them are going to champion almagamation and reduce to 1 of each, no matter how large!
  19. I would have one as a 22 Having previously owned a straightpull I thought they were great for civvy shooting, and let's face it, that's what we do. With the sub cal kit fitted it was a lovely little 22 to shoot. Chances of getting one now - Slim to none!
  20. The NRA said this on 26/3 Competition and Training Cancellations We have decided to cancel all NRA competitions and training courses up to 31st August; this includes the Imperial and Phoenix meetings. This decision has not been taken lightly; however the health and well-being of competitors, officials and staff must be our priority. We will keep the position under review in the hope we can offer a suite of “post corona” competitions in the autumn. Training courses will recommence when it is safe to do so. Payments made for courses, accommodation and Phoenix Arms Fair stands will be carried forward or refunded. And this on 2/4 Target shooting is on pause, ranges across the country are eerily quiet, and clubs are waiting for the red light to turn to green. The NRA, like many other charities, is experiencing exceptional challenges that threaten our future. Hard decisions have been made, and more lie ahead. 60 of our terrific staff have been furloughed and are at home with their families; 17 are working from home or Bisley to serve our membership and affiliates, and maintain Bisley ranges and infrastructure. We are determined to remain available and accessible; phone calls, letters and emails will be answered! The ranges and property at Bisley are being carefully maintained to allow shooting to return as soon as restrictions are lifted. It looks like Landmarc have used the date given in March and assumed it referred to ALL shooting regardless of any changes in the situation.
