Aah.. soz, thinking of the 624😳

Just turned up, pretty impressed. It's basically a titanium/quartz recreation of the Sea Dweller - but with hands I can actually see without reading glasses! 😂

Min focus is 50m on the Kahles, and 10m on the Schmidt .. if that matters to you. As preceding post; you could knock a fence post in with the Schmidt. Not sure the same would be true of the Kahles... also depends whether that matters to you. 😊

I think 'sensible' has left the building on Rolex 😂😊 I'm not convinced on 'run of the mill' as investments either... there's a big delta between theoretical value, and what's actually realisable in a private sale. I love titanium!

Sold my dive watches... but now missing the functionality. Just taken a punt on a s/h Scurfa limited edition titanium (the preceding no-date edition of the one pictured below) to try for size... price and lightness are appealing, as is the backstory of 'Scurfa', Paul Scurfield, a professional diver who's taken his WISness a step further. He's designed these to be the thinking (working diver) man's alternative to the Sea Dweller. https://www.scurfawatches.com/product/m-s-21-diver-one-limited-edition/ Thought I'd try one, before maybe getting a CWC diver, if the Scurfa doesn't suit my wants/tastes 'in the flesh'. On which: Anyone got a CWC diver they want to move on ?

Good iconic choices, David. I'm quite taken with the modern pistol-based carbines (forget the brand just now). They post-date me, never fired one, but they look perfectly pointable and controllable.

To my eye, the single fed and mag fed groups are the same size? -

Velocitors are a different game... don't know why. Clover leaf rather than shotgun patterns. -

Try CCI velocitors if you ever see a box - group stunningly well for hv fodder, easily as well as decent subs, and significantly more grunt - you even can feel the difference in recoil. -

I nearly said much the same 😂 doing 'under a thumbnail at 80m off my bonnet' is easier to type than do 😂😊 I'm finding the thread fascinating 👍 -
The ND film just makes me wince; it's so horribly sh1t... no frenzy of first aid, utter lack of urgency, no preservation of evidence, ROS starts questioning bystanders,or maybe, guilty parties, (thereby destroying due process) ...next to the casualty or body( he doesn't know which beyond 'looks nasty'!) and on and on.... its just squirmingly, utterly awful. A 'naive' film in the true meaning of the word!

Blimey, yep. Remember that one. .... the bullet from an eye 🤮

I'm going to carefully cycle a few rounds to have a look at the bullets next time I have the gat out; not looked...I'd be surprised if the marking isn't more of a mental than physical issue.. but then, I may be surprised!😂 (Don't lose sight of the fact that fullbore tgt and benchrest rifles are also usually not mag fed... the benefit isn't just about reducing rimfire bullet-marking) -

Interesting! Or only shoot 4 shot groups from 5rd mags?! -

Sufficiently 'different' that I'm in 👍 -
OSOK etc al - thanks, many spot-on ideas; but I was just simply after a sleeka equivalent to act, in essence, as a belay jacket in something non-tacticool (although my move was rather more prompted by my green/sand coats (4 - don't ask!) coming to feel a little self-consciously 'man at surplus store' if I wear them for anything other than belay-type (well, coming off the water after marathon kayak training) use!). For mountain stuff, I'm generally in the Brynje (Google it, 'arrest on sight' kit, but really works if you're going to sweat) and paramo layering.

Ventile, well olive or dpm Ventile, goes very very dark when wetting out, it goes from 'ok' colourwise to 'black blob'; it also stiffens massively and takes on weight - combine that with any freezing, and you're encased in a black, heavy, stiff and unmoving outer. That was my experience of it 😊

Just spotted their (sport pursuit) Fjern hurly ... Nice price too..
-
Yup, been googling belay jackets - the citadel does look good!😊

😂 I sold my collection of buffalo stuff about 5 years ago - even had the salopettes! - saw me through my various Arctic escapades - I'm after a non-down duvet jkt of some sort
