  1. This is just it. Nail on head so to speak. Hat off to anyone that had the time and inclination to create and produce any of the ideas that have been muted. Ben, you and your heavy rifles 🤣 please see the stalking rifle thread on the stalking directory which I know how contributed to. Average weight about about 11lbs. As for the dynamic. I really can’t be arsed with a yomp and shoot like the dynamic. If I wanted a walk and shoot I would go stalking. Long walks out a lot of people off and we need high numbers to make it financially worthwhile for event organisers. Like Ryan has highlighted these events rely on volunteer range officers and locations are hard to come by and cost. No harm with a huge target next to the little target for folk like me that just want to hit steel and have a craic. I like talking to folk on the range as much as I like shooting. It’s a social event as well.
  2. To be honest that’s a very fair comment. who cares what you bring. Just shoot and enjoy it. although some of the comps have become a little too obscure with their obstacles and time limits. keep it simple. Encourage easier targets for greater rounds on target for the less practiced. Hits on target create bigger smiles. Not everyone has the time to practice and these comps are often the only opportunity to shoot off their bellies. The pro’s course of fire needs to be different from the “also rans” just MHO.
  3. it’s the 30lb race guns that does it does for me. although Tom Rice did rather well with his factory Tikka Varmint on his first time out.
  4. Hunter class in the states deals with this.
  5. Bloody hell I missed the fact you can focus the IR from flood to spot. I’ll have to get out and give that a go. It’s already brilliant. @OSOK there is a non IR and rangefinder model that I am sure will be released. I know you like your long range night forays. However for the general population 200m as standard this will be perfect.
  6. As per Bruce’s post. The IR is works where it is. It has to go somewhere. The IR isn’t in a nice hood like the Pulsar range finder scopes. It’s also hundreds of pounds cheaper. There is no need to clamp an after market IR onto the scope. In hand it’s not noticed.
  7. I’ve just received a Pard DS35. I’ve been waiting for a digital NV scope with a higher base mag forever. Most come 3.5 magnification because it suits European boar hunters or American coyote hunters calling yotes in close. I believe the actual magnification has been measured at closer to 8. All I know is, that it works for me. the onboard IR is phenomenal at 200m and I’ll not be shooting foxes at longer distances at night. Just not my thing and my ground doesn’t allow it. mounts are a little high for this rifle but it allows me to swap and change. The scope is tiny and weighs very little. I bought from Blackwood outdoors with rapid over night shipping included in the price. ukvarminting has become very target orientated but I had to give this scope a shout out because I’m bowled over by its performance.
  8. Always remember it’s per person per lane. so if two people share a tunnel for an hour both people will be charged the hourly rate. What is the rate now days?
  9. Are they accessible without having to walk above ground now? It’s a while since I’ve been to the range.
  10. Definitely take your own targets and I would probably recommend a roll of backing paper to cover the board for a fresh start. it’s a very relaxed environment and is a great facility to have access to.
  11. Let me know how you get on. I’m picking up another .223 and want cheap brass because I’m good at loosing it in the field or truck! it never gets loaded more than a couple of times in reality when it’s one of my hunting rifles.
  12. I will echo the above. Run what you brung! Your rifle even with predator 8 will be just fine to get you going. 10 or 12 shot stages will heat it up but you should get through without too much mirage and it will have plenty of time to cool before the next stage. People will lend you kit to use if you don’t have it. You will see all sorts of huge bags. They will have got to them by trial and error. Don’t jump in just yet because next season there will be the next new thing. There will also be various tripods in use. That gets expensive. So I would also recommend waiting and seeing if you like it and then looking at the Chinese offerings RT90C is a well respected item. They need practice. I’ve seen many knocked over mid stage and folk battling against them over concentrating on the shooting. I thing it was Tom Rice. I may have made the name up, who turned up with a standard tikka t3 and used Kentucky windage. He beat the entire field and schooled everyone that knowing your rifle and just getting out and shooting beats gaming. Have fun.
  13. Will you stop making ridiculous suggestions. 1600 for a creedmoor and 1200 for a .20 cal not appropriate rounds for these distances.
  14. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265380912891?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=kDn7cx7FQOq&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=XiEbktBYQjG&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY A quick look on eBay I have found this. Caveat: I haven’t used one.
  15. I popped it on the Hide and some one has ran it through for me. looks like the Viht data is total junk. The operating pressure is dangerously low with their data. I should be starting at 40gr
  16. I would buy this if I could justify it. I’ve always wanted one.
  17. Please use the wanted section for placing wanted adverts. Wanted adverts in the sales section will be deleted from today.
  18. Is anyone running a 6mm Creedmoor? I want to use 87gr V-max load data is limited. I used Viht start data and got sooty case heads with N150 and groups were crap. With a max 38gr I have just ran the powder through p-max and I am tempted to start again with the N150 but use this data which is lot more powder! I am using Lapua brass at 50.9gr water capacity. 20” barrel https://www.p-max.uk/cgi-bin/pressure.cgi Is anyone using N150? I also have RS62 on hand.
  19. So the question; N140 or N150 if starting from scratch. My varget stock is drying up.
  20. I use a praesidia when I’m on a range. Works pretty well. It’s only been down range once 🤣
