Jeffo1960
Been doing the above for a good while but I am noticed recently my brass are coming out tarnished, like a smokey grey, so I am guessing my pins need to be degreased, any suggestions thanks in advance
John MH
Boil the pins in hot soapy water and rinse with clean hot water, that should ‘degrease’ them.

phoenix
If you are re-sizing before tumbling, usingf a waster based case lubricant like RCBS Case lube-2 will solve the problem Cheers Bruce
Jeffo1960
But I never had this before it has only just started and its getting worse, thinking about I did change my lube, as my mate give, me some he had left over, cant remember what it was as finished it, and threw the container
Jeffo1960
I boiled the pins as John MH advised, and scrubbed the drum, took a bit of elbow grease, tryed it and it's all good back to nice clean brass, also going to try, RCBS Case lube 2, as suggested, thanks again
One on top of two
What are you using to clean your brass. As in detergent wise ?
Jeffo1960
Bit of washing up liquid and some cheap car polish
phaedra1106uk
Forget the car polish, a squirt of w/up liquid and a 1/4 teaspoon of citric acid crystals (off Ebay) to help soften the water and they'll come out nice and clean. I de-prime my cases then my larger F/A tumbler takes about 30-45mins to run an initial clean (using 1.5mm steel ball bearings). That gets the cases more then clean enough to re-size, prep and inspect before a final 30min clean.

DaveT
Anyone tried leaving out the pins to avoid peening the chamfer?
phoenix
AFAIK, it's the pins that actually do the cleaning. There might be some cleaning action on the outside of the cases with the brass rubbing against each other but that won't clean the primer pockets or the inside surface of the case. Deburring and chamfering after wet tumbling solves any peening issues. Cheers Bruce
One on top of two
1 Finish dishwasher tab and a good squirt of rise aid job done , no stains , no tarnish I have never had greasy pins I just rinse everything off in cold water and put it away .
