Toby
Finally got enough snow that the bait sites are getting productive. Sat for a few hours last night and managed this triple. The first two were dog foxes followed by a vixen. All very smelly so mating season is obviously in full swing despite lack of calling.

Toby
Big foxes Toby. You must be putting vitamins in your bait sites !!! Fairly average. Dog and vixen 7 kg. Smaller dog 6.5 kg. My personal best is 8.5 kg. There are usually a few that tip the scales over 10 kg reported each year. I think the largest that I can remember was 13kg. A hunting mag used to run a competition for the heaviest fox with a firearm as top prize. They stopped it pretty sharpish when they caught people artificially increasing the weight ;-)

Toby
They stopped it pretty sharpish when they caught people artificially increasing the weight ;-) Full of lead ????? And or water. The rules were that the foxes had to be weighed and verified by the local police office. I expect that some were a bit sloshy. Would have been smartest to xray them but no doubt the cost and naievity put paid to that. I got a couple of gold fox and heaviest fox badges for entering. The antis are also on the march here and dont approve of competitions to kill animals......
