marty
Awful close to the door handle -- dodgy unless it was locked as well as closed. I think badger as well.
tisme
Would badgers kill the chickens? I sat out last night looking for the "fox" but I only saw 1 badger, he didn't come close just walked across the field.

TSG
Direction of damage looks up instead of down to me which might rule out claws dragging down a door!

brown dog
Has the door been propped open? Looks to me as though a prop or similar has been lent against it and forced upwards.
gunner
can you measure the distance from the ground ? as if i remember corectly the standard height from the bottom of door is about 900-1000 mm . ADD the extra 200mm from the ground its probably 1100-1200mm in total height ! it must be fox , surely badger couldn't reach up there ? BUT iv yet to see an abonibal snowman ! abolter
I would be worried about the panters (usually only contacted by phone) and definately the abonimal snowmen!! I also agree that some of the damage appears to go up over. A badger will be at least as tall as a fox on back legs and will definately kill chickens. In all my time keeping hens the only confirmed kill was a badger (ie it killed a hen). At this point the door rubbing seems favourite. What is the ground like at the base of the door, anything on its back legs leaving mark like that would mark the ground too
