With what bullet Dave..? 162gr eldx or a 180gr ELDM..?? Your 7mm saum could blow either of them if fired in quick succession.. Slow fire with small strings may not see a blow up. Depending on the conditions.. Wind dependant I probably fire the 4 shots on each exposure in 25 seconds. The last exposure is 20 seconds. 24 shots altogether.. 4 siters and 20 to count.. 6 exposures of 4 fig11s.. One shot on each fig11

I fired around 900 through before my 284 blew one.. Trouble was I blew up 3 during a 600yds snaps match.. 3 nice central shots out of 4 and a blank target.. I was baffled from the firing point why a marker was missing. Norman Clark was marking my targets and got another club member marking in the next lane too look for the missing bullet holes.. They too found it strange that i was missing a shot.. I spoke to them when they got back from butt duty

Nice group. The lightest bullet I've used is 162grs

The ELDM's have a tenancy to blow up.. Possibly the jackets are too thin.. There's alot if info on accurate shooter about them blowing up.. The 6.5 cal bullets can aswell.. That's what I thought and it happened.. I didn't think they'd be going fast enough to blow up.. I blew up 3 in my 7mm saum but they were doing nearly 3000fps

I did used to shoot the 162gr amaxes before the 162gr eldx's and they shot great on 57grs of N165.. I did test some on RS60 but I can't really remember about the accuracy..!! I may have an old target kicking around.. 52.5grs of RS60 rings a bell and I think I also tried 53grs and they were doing well over 3000fps

My 284 shot the 180gr ELDM's superb out to 1000yds.. I was shooting 600yds snaps and 3 blew up during the coarse of fire.. It was a cold morning and they were doing 2770fps according to my bal cal.. Stopped using them after as it cost me too many points. I've used 100s of 180gr berger hybrids since and no issues..

IMO the 284 is the best around cartridge.. It's my stalking and Tac rifle. It's shoots great at 1000yds with 180gr hybrids

I took it up to 55.7grs but the accuracy wasn't so good.

Figures entered into my bal cal at the time of testing just before we went into lockdown.

I run my 284 on 162gr eldx's for hunting on 54.8grs of N160.. 2900fps plus My chamber was cut by Neil Mckillop for 160 to 180gr bullets i believe.. 2560 shots down the barrel and still shooting superbly. They're very accurate indeed and expand as you would like.

Why are you adjusting them..? Have you changed presses..? Replace them with forster lock rings as already said

Twelve thousandths neck wall is fine.. neckwall thickness really depends on what size the tight necked reamer cuts the chamber neck. .307 bushing will be just fine.. personally I'd use a .306 bushing Bushing down an extra 1 thousandths will work well for running it over a 1.5 thousandths neck tensions mandrel.. I run the mandrel through the case twice.

I have a tuner on my latest 7mm saum barrel.. It's a Dan Bramley tuner.. My very first tuner.. I did the load development the usual way that went very well and I'm yet to try out the tuner.. This was October 2022 and I haven't put the barrel back on yet. The 7mm 270 is still shooting great so I've no urge to swap the barrels around. I watched the yanks at the European championships adjusting their tuners to adjust the positive compensation. They seem to be confident adjusting them..

I watched an f class John video where he ran the loads that were more and more out of alignment testing the concentricity theory.. They had to be really bent to be really bad on the target.. Small amounts of variation didn't make much difference on the target..

What did you gain from watching the video pops..?

When i bought my last batch I got the lot that was 1064fps so not to get any crackers.. There was some tenex with 1086fps but I didnt want the fast stuff.. It seems to prefer sub 1060fps anyway.. Personally I've never bothered to chrony 22lr ammo but I do follow what others post.

What was the velocity showing on the box of the eley match
