Same as maximus otter dry lube and wipe outside of case after sizing . Only dip the neck in the media though . I’ve found that sako 223 cases are rather rough so they hold a lot of media and bung the die up a bit - less is more !! . I bought the dry media 5 years back and have only just topped it up with new graphite from the same maker (2500+) 308sloaded to date . cheers

Very happy with my new t3x varmint stainless 1:8” twist . Still as standard . Big wildcat mod and S & B scope with wr 10 round mag it’s getting heavy . Added timney trigger now set to 1.25 pound and a picatinny rail genuine tikka part . Latest rabbits shot 212 yards with sako ammo . Was going to chassis it but happy with how it is as standard for now . Works great shooting off tripod system with hog clamp . cheers

Moly cote P37 is good to 1400degrees C . After a range day of 200 rounds you can see inside the brake end of the mod a build up of carbon where the vents are on the brake thus could be the lockup area . Have tried both copaslip and nickeleeze and they both don’t stay greasy after 200 shots . The silicon grease also deteriorate s and the gas can leak and cut the oring . Regular changes of the oring helps . Some hi temp greases only specify 450 c so try something much higher . Due to its structure stainless is very good at picking up on threads ie seizing and alloy items don’t mix with other metals so will corrode to a white powder . 40 years in the chemical industry and we still haven’t found a way to stop threads catching under all circumstances. I’ll see if I can order the moly cote and see how it works. Hope you’ve got that mod loose

O-rings usually prefer silicon grease aqua sil or similar. Copper slip or nickeleeze for metal threads . Halfords have a copper type grease but it’s not recommended for stainless steel , for this use the nickeleeze .

Just one thing clean out any diesel or whatever fluid you use with meths or brake cleaner before shooting it. It’ll stop any unexpected boom

I have tried to take mine apart but gave up . I will occasionally push a nylon teapot spout cleaning brush through it to clean off any bits in the baffles and spray it with silencesave after each session . Even though it’s 308 I think the internals are .338 so a 338 bronze brush might do a good job . Good luck

Undo the brake to barrel screw and dis assemble brake and mod from the barrel . Put the whole lot in a bucket of diesel and leave for a couple of days . With the brake in a vice and the mod facing upwards the mod needs to be turned clockwise to come off the brake . Kg 12 carbon remover works great to clean the inside of the mod/ brake area . When putting the mod on the brake use coppaslip and don’t over tighten it - right hand bullet spin keeps it nipped up .

Could try a strap spanner or one of them tools to take lids off jamjars so it won’t mess up the mod . Could you get a spanner across the flats at the rear of the mod and another spanner on the brake and squeeze them together in a right hand direction? .

Hi there I’ve loaded some 52 grain amax up for use on Wednesday so I’ll let you know how they go . Also bought 55 and60 grain bergers to try later and some 73 grain longrange boat tail which look very smooth and aren’t to much over the 69 g mark . Berger 64 g give a 2.00 in a 1:9” twist. Hornady 68 g bthp pointed should be ok .69 g scenar s = a 1.6 stability , nosler 69 g custom competition ,65g Sierra gameking,69 g matchking , all hit the greater than 1.5 . Good luck

Hi there looking at Brian litz book 77 grains are at the limit of stability for 1:8” so for 1:9” twist stick to 55 to 69 range . These are figures to get over the 1.5 threshold which is considered the minimum for stability . All depending on how fast your running . Try lots of combinations you never know what’ll work best . good luck

34 mm high quick disconnect mount for s and b ultrashort came this week . Now fitted and is only 2 mm higher than before so no great change according to StrelokPro. Looking forward to getting out in the fields with it . Happy days

Hi all measured tikka t3x 223 with the comparator case and it’s 2.3” coal with the Berger 73 grains. Tikka mags can take 2.26 ish . So will load as per the Berger book at 2.26 and work from there . Basically load to mag length and we’re good to go . 55/60 grain varmint Berger rounds load to same and 52 grains Amax to 2.22 - secant ogive so totally different nose shape. Very glad I did this measure as was going for a much longer COAL that would of been a massive amount of jam. Sako game heads are 2.190 coal . SP-4601 Ø34 H30MM 6MIL PIC according to spuhr web yours is 30 mm high so if it fits as per photo I’ll be fine with the medium 34mm. cheers

Thanks for info . using sportsmatch high mounts at the moment 19 mm but totally different way of measuring to spuhr , and am looking to have a quick change from the drone to the sandb . Swapping them around from 223 to the hmr Depending on where I’m shooting . S and B on the hmr has same point of impact when put on the 223 so hope it’s the same with the drone pro . cheers

Hi there Any info regarding spuhr mount used on tikka t3x varmint or super varmint with picatinny rail . I have a Schmidt and bender ultra short without illumination 5-20x50 . Clamp on mounts are in 34 or 38 mm heights what fits the best please ??

Hi all when I was choosing my 223 I saw on here somewhere about tikka 223 magazine s wearing the feed lips . My 223 should be a six round capacity but it does scrape the lips when fully loaded . It’s fine if only 5 are loaded. Bought some six and ten round mags WR alloy ones from rifle mags and can confirm they are true 6and 10 round capacity and can accommodate upto 2.6” coal . There is a tikka metal lip option also but these alloy mags work a dream . cheers

Sako game heads have claimed my first 223 fox , excellent accuracy and very explosive on fox at 116 yards . Zeroed at 100 yards is exactly same poi as HMR So can swap from 223 to 17 hmr without adjusting scope .

Hi all just getting ready to fire my first 223 1:8” 20” barrel tikka t3x stainless . Got some sako 55g soft points . Local shop has vmax 55 ,nosler bt 55g, federal 77g smks ,Remington accutips 55g . Anyone tried these and how they work on foxy. thanks in advance for info . cheers
